Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

The Knight's new section head, Wynn, and their mentor Knight wait up at the front of the room for their approach, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.

Sure. [ it's a party, which she's not 100% behind on good days. the good days have been rare lately. ] Congratulations, you deserve it.

I'm surprised they didn't try to promote you. Kinda seems like a squire closing sale. Everyone must go.

[ her hands clasp in front of her, not the anxious knotting that is common with her. for a moment she struggles with deciding to gloss over it or just tell stiles what happened. ] Belle did. I said no.

Oh. [17 wis to know better than to ask why right now.]

Well, I'm still glad you decided to come to mine. Want to check out the expensive looking finger food?

[ she wouldn't have minded if he asked, she would have just hedged around the whole truth. but she's grateful that he doesn't ask. and when she smiles, nodding in answer, that gratitude is reflected in it. ]

Yes please. It's way fancier than Cora's party was.

[He places a hand at the small of her back, gently guiding her around to the refreshments area.]

Yeah? How was the Hide party? Any arm wrestling contests break out?

Yes, actually! [ her smile widens, turning easier because talking about this is easy and she feels a trill of pleasure when stiles touches her. ] Cora won, she's really strong. Really strong.

[ and that kali girl didn't seem too fussed to have lost. she'd just cheerfully moved on to the next one. ]

Did I ever tell you she's from Beacon Hills too? Didn't know her super well. Knew her brother, though. He's here too.

[lurings]

I know. [ stiles pls. cora is basically abigail's best friend. the one that isn't a puppy.

welllllllll. ] Cora told me already. And I went to Derek's squiring party.

[ she's in the loop. far in the loop. unlocked the level four hale backstory already and everything. sans peter shit. still more in the loop of hale backstory than most people that don't hail from bacon falls. ]

It's kind of crazy how many of us there are. Cora and Derek. Allison. Jackson.

[Awkward to talk about the girl you still are basically in love with around the girl you are planning a date for. Whatever. Stiles can navigate this minefield.]

It's just you and Will, right? No one new has showed up recently?

No. Everyone else is dead.

[ the sad part is that it's true and she seems to have accepted that. ]

At least you've got Will. [It's almost a question because he feels kinda awkward about it now.]

He's better than most everyone else anyway. [ she shrugs. ] It's not a big deal. I still have more than most people.

Maybe the reason there's so many of you is because you're from Beacon Hills.

[ get it. it's like a supernatural/veil beacon.

[He snorts.]

Something like that. [He looks out at the rest of the party.]

Did you want to dance?

[lurings]

[ briefly, she gapes, but then her head dips in a nod, nervously lifting her hand to tuck her hair behind her ear. ]

Yes.

[Grinning, he takes her hand once she's finished tucking her hair and steps backward out onto the dance floor, leading her along. Part of him feels like there's a good chance she could just bolt if he's not careful.

His dancing isn't... terrible? Perform (dance) of 11 so he's hanging out in average white boy dance move territory. Enjoy.]

[ it's not bad, but abigail is perfect and i guess all those bonfires marissa snuck her out to that she doesn't remember must have paid off because while she's smirking at stiles busting a move, she reaches out to basically coax his limbs into the right place. (dance... nat 20) ]

You're awful, this is horrible. [ does it count as a compliment if she is very close to him and grinning? ]

[He doesn't fight her guidance, sort of blown away by how bright she's smiling. It's not exactly a common sight.]

I don't know. Everything looks great from where I'm standing.

[He means her. She looks great. So smooth. Look at that cha check of 20 total. Can't stop won't stop.]

[ her whole face scrunches up, easily swayed by his buttery smooth delivery. (will save 8) hdu. heart eyes motherfucker. her bottom lip scrapes between her teeth as she ducks her head, looking up at stiles from underneath her dark eyelashes. ]

[He's just so damn pleased with himself. As they continue to dance, he seems to calm down and follow her instruction so it's not as much of a train wreck.]

I think I'm going to keep up with the magic thing. See if Kat or one of the others has any suggestions for me.

[ she doesn't even know any magic people to direct him too. her magic people are psions. except... ]

I think Belle's boyfriend is in the Dragon's Fire. Maybe he would teach you. Or Alex's friend, um, Lila.

[ she will retract the gold statement later. ]

Magic-wise? Not really. But I did figure out that I'm really useless with my fists. That was a good day.

[His training with David isn't going so well...]

Do you need help? [ she pauses the tiniest bit as the song slows down. instead of putting a stop to the dancing, however, she just slips her hand down to take his and puts it on her waist. so smooth. ] With your fists, I mean. I'm stronger than I look.
