[Fortunately for Sam, this time around, when Dean arrives at the Castle? Sam hears about it.

He's made friends since back then, ones that know their relationship, and know that he would want to know. And they're right, because he's been waiting for this awhile, wants to know what took his brother so damn long to come home, wants to know if he'd being avoided on purpose or...no, it's probably on purpose.

Well, that was going to come to an end in a hurry. He doesn't particularly want this conversation, because it'll probably be uncomfortable and angry and horrible, but it has to happen. He can't sit on any of this forever.

Not when he's not the only one who knows.

So that afternoon, Dean will hear a rather...forceful knock on his door, following quickly by a voice.]

Dean, it's me. Let me in.

[Because he's not going away. Sorry, bro.]

I wish that had been the case. Even when you manage to send the thing back, you know they can come back the second they find a way through. And all they've left behind is a mess and a corpse.

We exorcised this one girl. Her name was Meg. And that demon...came back and possessed me the first chance it got just to get some revenge.

[He waves that memory away, sighing.]

I don't know how common they are here, but we didn't run into them all that often. I just...I saw them in Chicago and...it didn't look that way.

Depends on where you go. But you can find 'em almost anywhere, if you're looking for 'em. You mean you never got a tattoo to keep from getting hijacked?

[ he yanks his collar aside, pulling it down enough to reveal the symbol etched there. ] Quick and dirty demon repellent.

[He is like...blown away right now.]

It's a helluva lot more reliable than an amulet. Rose is gonna get one too.

[Rolls a delayed spot check of 24 to have noticed Rose's tattoos one of the several times she's stalked away from him. :)]

At least you won't have to talk her into the whole getting inked idea, too.

That's kind of a no brainer, isn't it?

[He raises his eyebrows at him.]

Getting stabbed with a needle's a small price to pay to keep from that happening ever again.

[He killed a hunter when he'd been possessed. Kidnapped Jo. No thanks.]

[ he watches him for a long moment, before answering ] You can say that again.

When do you want to go?

[Why yes, Dean, he's insinuating they go together. No, he's not giving you an option. Oops?]

After whatever this thing is Rose got called back for, I suppose.

[familybusiness]

[A beat, before...]

How much does she know, Dean?

[He knows it has to be a lot.]

[likedillinger]

[ he stares for a moment, deciding what to say ] ... She knows about what I went through. At least the Cliff's Notes. She doesn't need to hear every gruesome detail.




She knows about you. Or him.

[familybusiness]

[He nods slowly.]

I just don't want to say anything that will make things worse. I freak her out enough already. And there are things about me I can't change.

[Like seeing demons, what happened to him as a baby, his abilities. Even if he avoids every other pitfall, those things are still there.]

What exactly are you plannin' on telling her?

[familybusiness]

I don't know, Dean. If she knows, she might bring it up. Hell, the last time I talked to her, she was googling herself, and if that doesn't have something to do with me I'll be shocked.

And what if I suddenly start having visions again or something?

[likedillinger]

What do you mean, she was googling herself?

[familybusiness]

She was trying to do research on herself. [A beat.] Like I did.

[likedillinger]

Did she find something?

[familybusiness]

[He shakes his head.]

She asked me to help her look up some stuff about being 'shadowkissed,' but I came up empty there, too. And believe me, I looked. I'm still looking.

[From time to time, when he thinks of something else he can search.]

It seemed important.

[likedillinger]

It is.

But far as I can tell, it's not something that exists in this world outside of her.

[familybusiness]

It's not.

[He sounds pretty damn confident. Thanks nat 20 research check.]

At this point I'm hoping to maybe find someone else with it that came or might someday come through the Veil.. It's pretty damn unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

[ he finally sits again, on the edge of the bed, beer bottle in hand. ]



You put a lot of thought into this. [ there's a hint of surprise there. pleasant surprise. ]

[Sam looks over briefly, then back down at the floor.]
