The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Faye isn't really interested in making anyone smile. She is interested in drinking. So she just pops over and leans against the bartop, looking like she's half tempted to just go get it for her damn self before she settles on actually asking for a drink.

While she waits for it, she finally acknowledges another person being in her general vicinity.]

[ ah, hello bratty brunette, aren't you annoyingly familiar. he glances over and raises an eyebrow. ] Harrison.

Faye. [Too bad. Gonna find out anyway.] I haven't seen you at one of these before. Where were they hiding you?

[ he takes a bracing sip of his scotch. go away, child. ]

Space. I'm told it's the final frontier.

[No shit.

Okay but really, Faye just rolls her eyes. And doesn't go away.]

Weird, and here I thought this was a party. Socialization and all.

[ you are like twelve, what do you even know???? ]

I heard a rumor someone around here keeps a bear at the castle.

Her name is Mellie, she's out in the woods. [ ah shit, Faye, you made him smile. A MILLION XP. ]

[The corners of her mouth turn up to mirror his smile.]

I've been here for longer than you've been in a training bra, yes, I know about her.

[ long dramatic pause. ]

She's mine. Insomuch as she isn't likely to maul me to death. [ because mellie is her own woman, she is a strong, independent black bear that ain't need no man. ]

very calmly, gus summons a five-foot diameter ball of fire (flaming sphere). it's just chilling nearby, keeping them toasty. his gaze flashes toward wynn, before settling back on faye. he keeps the giant fire ball in place, hovering over the floor so it doesn't burn anything, and from rolling around the ballroom with a concentration check of 30 so faye can drool all over it like wow, holy shit, that is a big ass fire ball. ] It's magic from nature, Dorothy.

[ and then he extinguishes it. ]

[Alright, she's paying attention now. In fact, she's so focused on the flaming sphere that when it goes out, she gives a little pout. But she quickly shakes that off and snaps her fingers to call her little flame to her hand. It's not nearly as impressive (little level 0 prestidigitation spell that it is), but she's making a point here.]

How long have you been practicing?

[ he shrugs. ] Couple decades.

[Squint.]

How old are you? [You don't look that old. Unless you were practicing as a baby. But she also didn't remember anything about her life to know if she also had that kind of experience (spoiler: she doesn't)]

Thirty six.

Oh. [He looked good for his age. Also simple math tells her that she would have a couple decades of practice under her belt by the time she was his age too.]
