Anyone showing up to equipment orientation would find a very tall, curly haired man leaned against a wall. He's waiting inside the lab, behind its "Biohazard" labelled doors. Once people begin to show up, he offers a quick greeting and a brief smile, gesturing for them to continue on while he waits for the rest. People are free to look around at the grand library while he waits for the proper head count. Once he thinks everyone has arrived, he takes them up the steps. A great deal of models are suspended from the ceiling that look like space age designs for jet planes, cars, boats, and any number of other things. There are other objects that are much more inexplicable: a giant silver ball, suspended by several rods, for example.

There's another set of doors at the end of the balcony, and he swipes his access card through a reader beside them. They depress with a space age hiss. revealing a clean white laboratory, with rows and rows of tables and lab equipment set up. Numerous knights buzz around in white lab coats, working under microscopes and on computers, conferring over a number of projects.

"Just a bit further." He calls over his shoulder as he waves to a few of the lab techs that he knows. There's a door on the left side of the room with a panel that he presses his hand to, causing the light to change from red to green, unlocking the door for the group.

Beyond is a very long room, with rows of labelled cases and cabinets with transparent glass revealing what's inside. He puts both hands on the edge of the table and takes a deep breath to begin.

Sword & Sorcery: Old Books for a New Age is located in a strip mall in a relatively nice part of the city of Oxford. A scattering of other cars fill parts of the parking lot, with most of the vehicles congregated to the side nearest the Teriyaki Rok'n'Wok, a rock and roll themed teriyaki restaurant. The bookstore sits farther down the line of shops, in the more deserted section of the strip mall. Val'drin raises an eyebrow at the Rok'n'Wok, slipping one hand into his pocket as he surveys the others.

"Everyone's at least armed, I do hope."

Just as before, accessing the secret room where the Round Table is housed requires using the Knight's keycard to open the glass case beside the mural of the War in Heaven, located across from the ballroom entrance. Using the fire extinguisher as a lever to activate the "door" mechanism reveals the long torch-lit hall plastered in artwork depicting the Knight's history. The tenants of the Knighthood hang large and foreboding over the doors at the end of the hall, which stand open to reveal the brightly lit Round Table, and the majestic crystalline dragon statue presiding over it.

Come in, find a seat, meet your teammates if you haven't already. Val'drin and Wynn are already here when you arrive.

Marty's got a love-hate relationship with these convention gigs. They're few and far between for him-- he's not exactly a hot commodity, never has been-- but when they happen. Wow. Really puts into perspective how he hasn't made it to the big leagues yet. These things are like a gathering of the world's most pathetic people, all in one hotel. Washed-up stars still cashing in on one movie from thirty years ago, geeks in shitty costumes, desperate retailers trying to hawk their collectible figurines.

Marty absolutely loves these people.

And why shouldn't he? They give him exactly what he craves: attention. Sure, he'd never hang out with any of these losers out in the real world, but here? In the ballroom of the hotel? He's a fucking star, and these are his adoring fans. They've actually seen his movies, which, okay, isn't really a big feat, since he's been in some major pictures (as an extra or bit part, admittedly). But that's not it. They've seen the movies where he actually has a leading or supporting role-- a talking role. And not only that, but they've seen more than one. And a few extremely dedicated people? They even dress up like characters from his movies.

So, he sits at his table, which has... a modest line. Okay, a small line. A very small line. It's evening and the con's starting to wind down for the night. But the size of the line doesn't matter: what matters is these people are here to see him. He leans back in his chair, sunglasses propped up on his head as he takes sips from a bottle of Coke (and rum, heavy on the rum). With a lazy grin, he waits for his next adoring fan-- or person who's mistaking him for someone else; that happens quite a lot.
