kyp ♔ the dungeon

[ it's not easy to find the dungeons if you don't know where to look, but for those who manage to find them, they'll discover that the rows of empty cells are all emptied except for one barred cell, where the resident doppelganger hangs out on the floor, the collar yanked loose on his pricey looking suit.

there's generally someone down here to keep an eye on him. but it's possible to grab a moment with at least a little privacy. ]

[Myri's never seen the dungeons, but she knows they exist now. She likely shouldn't be doing this. People would be upset, so that's why she goes in the very early morning when most people are still sleeping. She still can't sleep much and makes excuses for it. Right now, though, she's on a mission... a mission to find Kyp.

Eventually she finds the dungeons (search 19) and walks slowly through them until she finds him. She doesn't say anything at first, just stares. It's still strange to think that this is what he looks like. Was that a stolen face, one he simply liked to wear around?]

Do you really enjoy it? Taking on someone's life? Stealing from them like that?

[imposturing]

[ kyp looks up from where he's playing with a button on his sleeve and stares for a good long moment. ]

Stealing implies going for ownership, you know. I don't believe in ownership.

[witchwoman]

So what would you consider it? Because you certainly didn't ask my permission when you threw me in the back of a van, so it wasn't borrowing.

[imposturing]

That was business, kid. I'm usually not in the long-term game anyway, but I'm not stupid enough to try to pull one when the mark's still around.

[witchwoman]

But you told Elena you enjoyed it, that living our lives felt good. [Or something like that. Myri was still pretty traumatized then.]

[It takes Elena quite awhile before she decides that she's going to do this, to visit him. And of course she shows up in the middle of the night, because she's pretty sure literally no one would be okay with this course of action on her part.

Elena almost wishes that finding them would have been harder (search 19).

She walks over quietly and has a seat at the edge of the jail cell, about a foot away from the bars.]

[ it actually takes him a little bit of time to notice her, perhaps because his head is leaning on the bricks behind him, whether b/c he's asleep or just zoned out staring at the ceiling. when he finally does notice her, he does a slight double take. and then says carefully: ]




So. Come to read me the riot act?

No, I figured I would leave that to...everyone else.

[Because she's pretty damn sure some of them have come down here to speak their mind.]

[imposturing]

[ wryly: ] Well, if it isn't my lucky day then.

[ a beat ] They're probably going to kill me, you know. [ he pronounces this with the detached curious air of someone discussing something they saw on television, as if it's an interesting statement, but not one that really has their mortality hanging in the balance. ] Once they're done wrestling their moral compass, I'm sure at least one of them will step over the line.

And you're okay with that?

[Because it oddly sounds like he is, and that unsettles her a lot. Killing anyone who isn't fighting back isn't exactly okay in her book, even if the urge to do it had hit her pretty hard herself.

But she's glad she didn't, for her own sake.]

[Des nods at the guard as he walks in and stops in front of kyp's cell. He looks like hell warmed over, but that manic glint in his eye he had during the fiasco is back.

He may have had to ask Wynn permission and leave his gun behind JUST IN CASE, but he's still, you know, Des.]

Can you guess what I'm thinking right now?

Something, something, creative ways to mutilate me and hide my corpse before Wynn ever knows any better. [ he does not sound impressed as he rolls his head to the side to get a better look at you, des. ] Am I getting warmer?

[nothingsodivine]

I was actually thinking of that pancake place Buffy and I go to every Sunday, but now I feel kinda inspired. [He cants his head.] I promised Wynn I'd play nice. He's the only person I'd ever promise that for, which I'll happily tell you now, because you won't be telling anyone else. Ain't it grand?

[He smirks.] I wanna know what you got on me, because I bet it was absolutely nothing worth your time. But humor me a little. I don't know what other people have been saying about me.

[imposturing]

If there's something specific you're so worried about, you could speed this process up a lot by just spelling out what it is. [ a smirk. ] After all. [ he spreads his palms and looks around at his glamorous surroundings ] Who am I gonna tell now?

[nothingsodivine]

Quid pro quo, Clarice. [He rolls his eyes.] I know your boss has known about me for awhile. He'd have to, given his... Let's just say interests. He had a lot of fun with an empath and a vampire, so that gets me wondering if I'm even gonna make it to that meeting.

[Des eyes him darkly.] I don't care if he never told you why or if he never gave too many deets. I wanna know if he ever singled me out. If this kept on, would I just have left a nice goodbye note on the front desk and that'd be it?

[If Rose had thought for a second that she could have bribed somebody to allow her five minutes alone in the cell with this piece of shit, she would have done everything in her power to make it happen but by the time she's found a moment to get away, it's not blood that she's after. She has the sense to know that if anyone had allowed her into that cell, she wouldn't have been able to stop at beating him to within an inch of his life and death was too quick for him.

Rose was surprisingly calm when, after searching the Castle (Search 16) and asking the right questions (Gather Information 19) she found her way to the Dungeons. Though she doesn't storm in like death in a black hoodie, there's an unmistakable darkness that surrounds her, a tension that radiates through her body as she stands in front of his cell allowing the silence to hang in the air as she stares him down.

Rose could be scary when she was out of control but when she was the master of her anger? That's when you should really be worried. (Intimidate 29)]

Do you know who I am?

[imposturing]

[ he was lazily tracing patterns on the wall with a finger when she approaches, and his body language shifts when he sees her, like a rabbit spotted by a hunter. he speaks warily, watching her closely. ] ... Elena's friend.

Rose.

[littledhampir]

[Just hearing him say Elena's name makes her glower, fingernails digging into her palms as she curls her hands into fists.]

Best. Friend. [Forcing those two words out through gritted teeth.] And if you want to continue breathing, that will be the last time you ever dare to say her name in my presence.

[imposturing]

Well, that will make for a short conversation, then. After all, she's most of what you and I have in common.

That's because you're under the mistaken impression that I want to hear anything you have to say. You're hear to listen. When I actually want you to respond, you'll know. Am I making myself clear?

[bigbad]

[It takes Spike a while to find the dungeons (search 9) so by the time he gets there, he's extra grumpy. Not that he was in a spectacular mood as it was, considering who he was going to see.

Once he gets there, he stares at Kyp for a little while before speaking.]

Not enough to be a miserable bastard who got me and Myri tortured, is it? Had to be a bloody rapist as well.

[imposturing]

[ kyp does not... look impressed by the word. ] Please.

Do us both a favor and spare me the moral outrage. You have no idea what happened between Elena and I.

[bigbad]

[Spike glowers at him.] Can't even admit it? You slept with her wearing my face. What part of that's not rape?

[imposturing]

It wasn't like I was wearing your actual skin, you know. Think of it like a... a costume. [ he gestures casually to accentuate the word ] A costume of someone she had no romantic interest in previously, I might point out. The person she decided to be with that night? Emerged entirely out of the connection she felt then and there, in that moment. It didn't matter what they looked like, who people thought they were, any of that exterior crap.

[ he frowns and leans against the back of his cell, arms folded ] You wouldn't get it, because you live in a world that's come to believe all that matters. A superficial reality that keeps you tied down to every impression everyone's ever gotten of you. [ he raises his thick eyebrows at spike ] To you, you'll always be a vampire, because people will never forget you're a vampire. They can't remove it from the equation, and ever really focus on who Spike is, by himself, without the weight of all that on top of it. You can't just up and be a human tomorrow so that you can experience people reacting to you for you. Not unless you bend the truth, keep who you really are secret from them. [ he points at his chest meaningfully ] I can up and change, moment to moment. So why the hell wouldn't I? Why wouldn't I want to be sure that Elena would want me for whatever I was: doppelganger, human, vampire, you name it. That she'd always feel that connection, and no matter where we ended up, no matter who we became?

[ he leans forward slightly, a dark challenge in his eyes. ] She'd always want me.
