Because she told a cute guy that she would. And for some reason she's following through with it.

The problem here is that she has no idea what she's doing. So it's mostly her trying to use apps on her phone and ni hao kai lan on youtube. She really doesn't need to be in the library for this, since she hasn't cracked a single book. But maybe we should just be happy that she knows where the library is.]

I'm sort of winging it here. [Oh hey- there's a pink nose poking over the edge of the table. And then a kitten making a daring leap to get from the seat of a chair up to the table. Sup Gus?]

Rosetta Stone. [ his hand reaches out instinctively to pet the cat. he is the animal whisperer and he might smell like cat nip because helen introduced him to luthir's fiancé and she grows her cat nip next to his.... gus nip. ] They have classes in town.

Pretty sure I could get yanked for a mission at any time, so signing up for classes somewhere seems pointless.

It's... going. Slowly. But I found a knight around here who actually speaks Mandarin and offered to teach me. So that's progress, right?

I'm surprised he agreed to it, honestly. I was pretty sure he hated me. Or just people. Apparently he's fond of bears, though.

[A big, fluffy dog ambles up to Faye and starts sniffing her lap under the table and wagging his tail. A little ways away, the dog's owner is thumbing through the shelves, looking grumpy.]

Can't believe this world has no holovids. [Han has been here far too long to actually be surprised about this, but he could be here til the day he dies and he'll STILL be annoyed about the technology gap.] Chewie! Leave her alone.

[If Faye had any memory of her life before, this would seem really familiar. But she doesn't. Still, is inherently annoyed by this creature.]

[Chewie bounds over to Han, who scratches his head and grins down at the dog.] Good dog.

[Below the table, a tiny kitten hisses, echoing her master's displeasure.]

I think we have a different definition of friendly. [Bending down, Faye gathers up her familiar and sets her in her lap.]

[Han cranes his neck and smirks when he sees the kitten.]

[ well, belle might read her not picking up any books as her requiring assistance, so here she is to... assist. with a friendly smile. ] Can I... can I help you with any?

Huh? [Faye glances up from her phone, not realizing how intently she had been staring at it.] No, I'm-- [She stops and her shoulders drop a little.] Do you know much about learning new languages?

Well, I'm not an expert, but I've picked up a few since my arrival here. What were you hoping to learn?

I decided to try to learn Chinese. And it's... sort of impossible.

Nothing is impossible.  [ she gives her an encouraging smile ]  Just different degrees of challenging.

Well, this is on the 'very' side, then. [She sighs and puts both elbows on the table, burying her face in her hands. She's been at this all day and has a headache. Ugh.]
