I'm not so sure. At the very least, their combined age is probably ridiculous.

In this world, it's hard to tell age by one's cover, anyway.

My... deal. [ she smiles a little bit at that, looking down. ] Well, I came here from the Shadow World, several years ago. In France.

Do you remember much from before?

Everything. I think. Although I've realized over the last year or so that certain events near the end seem a bit... hazy. But for a long time, I believed I hadn't forgotten anything at all.

Is there any pattern to it? How much people remember or not?

None that anyone's ever been able to distinguish.

Seems unfair. Sometimes I wish I could just remember some part of who I was.

Maybe you have in a way you just don't realize yet. Is there anything you've found that you're good at, that you never learned here? That feels...familiar?

Just magic. I had no idea I could do anything like that until I got to the castle and weird stuff started happening.

But you've picked it up very quickly, since?

I guess so. Gold seems to think I'm doing okay. Hasmed doesn't emote, so that's harder to tell.

I've seen him angry before, so I think if you're not getting that end of things, you're doing alright.

He looks perpetually pissed off. That's his one expression. How could you even tell?

General irritation is a bit different from his actual outbursts.

So what's he like when he's actually pissed?

Well, yeah- but for the sake of science, let's say I was close to the edge of finding out. Are there any warning signs? Cues to look out for?

Personally, I think the ridges on his nose start to stand on end.

That's disgusting. [Said with a laugh.] So do you have any magic or powers or..?

I have these. [ she gestures with her head towards the gigantic stacks ] I've rarely found them not to hold the solution I'm looking for.

[Faye just wrinkles her nose at that.]

Yeah, no thanks to that.

I suppose they're not everyone's cup of tea.

From what I hear, some of the mages are stuck with them? Like that's the only way they can work spells is if they read about them.
