[ francesca's dragged stiles to the training room some early evening in august, dressed in some tight, all black workout outfit, and is currently stretching her muscles a bit to warm up. enjoy :) ] Have you had any previous experience in combat training?

[Wearing basketball shorts and a tshirt, Stiles does not look nearly as put together as Francesca, but was anyone really surprised???]

Uh-- [Oh. Sorry, was he supposed to be paying attention and not watching her stretch?] Not really. I just sort of... wing it.

[ she straightens up again, directing his attention to a nearby weapon rack ] Any of those catch your fancy?

Vi let me try out her bow once. But other than that I usually just stick to... [Baseball bats, but that sounds so lame.] Cl...ubs?

[ she nods, giving him a small smile ] Alright, that should work as good as anything. Why don't you go check those out and pick out one that feels right in your hands.

[He goes to the wall of big scary weapons and finds a club. This is going to be terrible, but hey! He's here to learn right?]

So I'm not actually supposed to hit you, right? [He's only ever fought with intent to harm someone. This sparring thing is a weird concept for him.]

[ she shakes her head ] I never much cared for that method of sparring - makes you too nervous to concentrate on your form. You can try to hit me all you'd like. [ but hahaha you won't :') ] Trust me, I can take it.

[He rolled a four for his first attack. Pretty sure his terribad strength makes that a whopping 2. So just...watch him whiff at thin air.

Of course. [ she's stone-faced over here, not even cracking a smile. look at the self-control. actually, she's just not really the teasing type, not when it comes to stuff like this. in fact, she takes great pride in being encouraging and supportive. ] Take all the time you need. Gaining skill with a weapon doesn't happen over-night; it takes dedication and practice.

How long did it take you? [He's going to take a minute to get a better feel for the club. Or just try to work out his nerves by chatting her up.]

[ she moves over to the weapon rack herself, slowly drawing out a rapier (and enjoying that metal-on-metal sound as she does) before turning back to him ] I apparently had quite a bit of training with a rapier and a dagger before I came to this world, and although I don't remember any specific occasions of said training, the muscle memory was still there. I've merely taking the last hundred or so years to hone those skills.

[Stiles lets out a surprised sort of laugh.]

Just a hundred? Yeah, I'll catch up in no time.

I've no doubt. [ she knows as well as he that he doesn't even have a hundred years, to begin with, but she believes in you, stiles :') ] Especially with such a gifted instructor. [ and she winks, giving him a sly grin before offering him the rapier in her hand, hilt first. ]

[He laughs and takes the sword from her, looking it over.]

Seems kind of... old world. But I guess when you're a squire in an organization of knights? You go with it.

I take it this was a more unusual sight in your world than it is here?

[ she hold up her own weapon, taking a stance and waiting for him to follow suit ] The key to using a weapon such as this is to rely on speed and accuracy rather than attempting to throw all your weight behind your strikes. A rapier is best used to puncture armor, skin and, hopefully, vital organs. You want to thrust with the point, not slash with the blade.

Like a toothpick in an appetizer. [Everything comes back to food.] Can you show me... in a way that doesn't involve puncturing my vital organs.

Of course. [ she drags one of the dummies from the storage corner, one that looks more human and, therefore, has a discernible anatomy. this is a little too easy, but better for a first-time demonstration.

she takes a few steps back, studying the dummy for a few moments, and assumedly planning her attack. ] Watch closely. I'm very fast. [ she winks his way before diving forward, thrusting the sword sharply into the dummy three times in quick succession, striking the 'abdomen' twice and then fiercely driving the rapier into its 'heart' (att 22, 23 & 25 for a crit; dmg seems unnecessary, but it would be a lot). she pulls the sword cleanly from the dummy with a small flourish of the blade and turns back to stiles. ]

Whoa. [Yeah, that's all he's got. Eyes wide and mouth hanging open, Stiles is just gawking at how bad ass that was.]

Remind me to never piss you off.

Oh, I have much more dangerous weapons than this under my belt. [ ;) can't stop. won't stop. ] Care to take a jab?

Uh... sure. [Well, he doesn't have weapon finesse so he's not going to get to switch those stats around to make this easier. And he rolls a 3 but his str mod is -2 so that's a one. So not a crit fail, but wow. Just... wow. He somehow missed the target completely even though he was standing two feet in front of it.]

[ she should get extra friend points for not laughing. she actually doesn't seem amused or smug about his failure, and rather comes up behind him, her hand sliding along his main arm down to his wrist, and her other resting lightly along the middle of his back.

she lowers her voice in such close proximity to his ear as she tightens her grip on his wrist ever so slightly. ] Here, let me guide you.

[ i'm not sure what to roll to aid him, so here's a random d20 roll of 17. good luck concentrating now though, stiles. she really didn't take into account how a teenage boy brain might handle an attractive woman all up in his business and actually touching him. ]

[Well I gave him a chance to will save to try to not turn into a pile of teenage hormones and he crit failed so...]

Guide... right. Uh.

[He fidgets nervously as she gets all up close and personal.]

So I'm just supposed to... jab it in?

[ haha ha sex ed is gonna have to be another day, stiles. she's having enough trouble teaching him this. ] Right. The tip first, and be precise lest you bend your blade inconveniently.

Use your momentum to your advantage... and thrust. [ okay, maybe that one was a little on purpose, but on the word 'thrust' she attempts to guide his hand forward and direct his attack to the correct location (str 15). i guess... make an attack again? but maybe he can gain a bonus to his strength for having her weight behind the blow as well? ]

[Oh hey... when you make it sound like sex and he has a quickly growing boner, he actually figures it out. I mean... she's teaching. Yes. That's it. Definitely the teaching. Either way, he actually rolled a 16 on his own yey. But her bonus just made it that much harder a blow.
