CAMPING MOTHERFUCKER

[will said he would take abigail camping for her birthday, so it's what they're doing now. he's been camping before, but not in a long, long time. he's a pretty outdoorsy guy, though, and he does better away from other people, so he's been looking forward to it. and yes, he brought lemon. ... and maybe two other dogs. whoops.

right now he's currently struggling with putting up the tent. it's like puzzle pieces only it's the shittiest puzzle ever. he'd rather be solving a murder rn not gonna lie. but he's not going to ask abigail for help, nope. because he's a manly father figure.]

[ abigail is a-okay lounging in her folding camp chair, knees pulled up and feet tucked underneath her. there are four pieces to the tent, watching will struggle is a little bit hilarious so she keeps her chin tucked into her hand to hide the smile, fiddling with the mallet in her other hand which one of the dogs keeps licking like miley cyrus. ]

No, they're mine. [out of breath from struggling with the tent. precious.] Every time I drive out, I end up with a new one.

okay, miley, have the mallet. setting it down for the dog to gnaw on, she unfolds herself and moves over to will, putting her hand on his arm to still whatever catastrophe he is about to make of the tent. it can withstand three seasons and eighty mph winds, but she's not sure it will withstand will. ] Let me help.

[ crouching down by the mess, she quickly takes care of it so it's not a catastrophic game of pick up sticks. (survival 23) she slides the poles into the right places and tucks the correct ends into the appropriate pockets before looking up at will. ] If you get the other side it should pop right up.

[ all he has to do is put the end of the poles in the handy pockets. you can do it, will. abigail believes in you. ]

[ she motions to the mallet and pile of metal spikes by her chair before glancing up at the sky. hopefully it won't rain. ] I don't remember either. I think it's just muscle memory. I know we went camping... I just don't remember going camping.

Yeah. [with his vague, non-committal to anything "yeah" response, he goes over to hammer in the anchors ... and fucking CRIT FAILS omg bless his heart. i'm guessing that means he ... hammered his thumb. :'( and says some not very nice things about it. /washes his mouth out with soap]

[ oh my gosh, this is a disaster. she stops clipping the cover on and whirls around, eyebrows furrowed in concern. ] Are you okay?

[ she watches him for a bit like she thinks he's lying. but then turns back to finish clipping the cover on. ] We still need wood for the fire.

Are you trying to delegate me to a task where you think there's less chance of me hurting myself? [he smiles while he asks, so at least he's probably not ... too bothered. he goes to collect firewood, and probably doesn't hurt himself. (survival 26) and also finds firewood. yayyyy.]

Yes. [ she's not fronting. and she hammers the anchors in easily if not... very crooked. (str 12) while she's waiting for will, she moves their bags into the tent and zips it up to keep the dogs out for now before pulling a hoodie on over her tee shirt. doot de doot, making a fire pit for the firewood. she is very safe. smokey would be proud. ]

[so much firewood. he brings it over.] Is that good, or do you think we'll need more? [the dogs come over to him like U WERE GONE FOREVER WE COUNTED WE MISSED U.]

Um... I think that is good. [ it's nice out, they won't freeze to death or anything. she settles in to stack the wood so they can make some dinner. probably hot dogs, lets be honest. hot dogs and dough boys. (not actual dogs...) ] We might need a little more kindling if you want to have s'mores.

I'll get some more later. [he kneels down to he can pet his doggies. which reminds him ...] You know, a little bird was telling me that you were wanting a dog that was all your own.

It's fine. [his mouth quirks to the side in a smile.] Would you be interested in taking one of my dogs, or do you want something more formal? Like picking one out at a shelter.

But they're your dogs. [ she's not opposed to them, of course, she loves them. but they're will's doggies. that being said, she doesn't feel the need to go pick one out on her own either. ]
