[ so smooth, max. so. smooth. lissa immediately smiles as she looks over at him, green eyes bright. there is definitely no denying that she is happy to see him. not that she would, but she makes it plenty obvious right there on her face. ] Isn't it, though? As much as I enjoy winter for the darkness, I will miss this part of summer.

Did you forget we live in England? Sunny days are few and far between no matter what time of the year it is.

They're more prevalent than you think. [ she taps her index finger against his nose. ] You just don't notice because your skin isn't as delicate as mine. [ a beat as she takes in his regular uniform, so different from her pale sundress, and decides he put his arm against the back of the bench so she could lean against his side. ] Nor do you show as much skin in the first place.

Are the two mutually exclusive? [ she shivers a little and rubs her arm lightly like brrr it sure is cold, wish someone had a handy leather jacket for me to wear. ] But, no, I'm not complaining.

Cold? [ instead she gets his arm moving down around her shoulders. IS THAT OK?? ]

A little. [ ukw, that works perfectly and she leans against him a bit more, tipping her head to rest against his shoulder contentedly. ] Tell me a story. About you.

I'm not sure most of them are exactly good story telling material.

My best and oldest friend despises me and I apparently tortured someone into insanity. [ she tips her chin to look up at him. ] Humor me.

[ he raises an eyebrow at that but... doesn't press ] Does this have to be a happy story?

[ she was just making a point that her life wasn't all sunshine and flowers. ]

As long as its about you, any story.

See, my favorite story's about meeting you, so I'm gonna have to go second tier.

[ smooth as fuq. ] Our love affair with Ben Franklin is certainly memorable. But that is a happy story, for the record. [ she snuggles closer, crossing her legs so her knee brushes against his. ] It better be, at least.

[ that brings a smile to his face that crinkles even his eyes, and he shrugs ] Alright, you got me. I have at least one.

I promise, I will give you many, many more. [ stuck with your vampire girlfriend forever yay. ]

[ he warms a bit further at that, and turns to plant a kiss against her temple, hovering there a bit, before he sighs, and says: ] Alright. Story time. This was in... I don't know. The forties? Something like that. Embarrassing haircuts all around. Good tunes, though.

Are you telling me that you like swing music and you've never taken me swing dancing? [ how rude. you like how she just plucked that out of infinitesimal information and made that scenario happen? yep. ] I'd've loved to see you dressed up like Guys and Dolls.

[ she laughs brightly, shifting a hand to his knee and squeezing it gently before coercing her features into calm neutrality. ] I'll behave. Please continue.

Alright. So it was the forties, which meant no internet, obviously. At one point I decide I'm going to go straight. Get myself a job and strike out on my own. So I pick up the paper and browse the want ads.

[ l o l what is having a job? lissa sure doesn't know. she makes a note to ask what he was doing previously that prompted him to go straight, but otherwise only makes an encouraging noise for him to continue. ]

There wasn't much. And most of it involved dealing with people.
