He's a Newfoundland. So big, they named him after a country. [She reaches up to scritch his ears.] His name's Don Henley. And I'm Paige.

Lulu is... [ she looks down at the little dog. which is literally a tiny ball of white fluff roughly the size of one of henley's paws. ] Poodle, maltese, bichon, cotton candy mix.

Well, she's adorable. Hi there, Lulu. [She kneels down to pet the little ball of fluff.] Yep. They're my favorite band. I sang Desperado in the Miss Tuscaloosa County Pageant my senior year of high school.

Oh, I love David Bowie! [Let's be honest, Paige will listen to just about anything, because she's a music whore. She probably has Kanye on her ipod too.] I wore out my Mom's copy of Hunky Dory when I was a kid. Gods, I didn't think kids these days still appreciated the classics.

My mom used to listen to Ziggy Stardust when she was cooking.

I've always thought one of the most important things a parent can pass down to their children is the music they love. [She gathers Lulu up in her arms so she doesn't have to kneel in the snow to pet her, while Henley sniffs Abigail's hair.] I don't think Mama meant for me to take it as far as I did, but it led me here, and I'm sure she'd be proud of this if... I can ever get up the gumption to tell her.

I'm not sure a lot of people's parents would expect their kids to join a Knighthood. Maybe... a sorority.

My whole family are clerics, so this is probably closer to what they had in mind than where they thought I was headed. [It's not her fault that it took her a long time to find her deity.]

Oh. Guess you're not the black sheep, then.

Oh, I'm still the black sheep. [she looks away to pet Henley.] My family worships Lliira and I worship Milil. It helps that they're allied deities, but it's still a little tense when you don't serve the same god or goddess. At least in my family.

[ abigail is, well, an atheist. lapsed christian, but she sure doesn't believe in anything any longer. so she shifts uncomfortably. ]

What is Milil the... patron of?

[ actually that was pretty smooth since she doesn't know what gender her deity is. why do they even have genders??? ]

Song. [ARE YOU SURPRISED?] I'm in training to become a Tuneservant- they're the highest order of clerics that serve him. I thought being with the Knights would help me get the experience I need to reach that goal.

Oh. Well, the clerics here are really good. Solace and Risa especially. [ abigail isn't that bad either, but lmao she's not a cleric. she just knows who they all are. ]

I'm looking forward to working with them. [though she does... immediately assume abigail must be one too.] Are you in the Dragon's... Light, wasn't it? Yeah, Dragon's Light. I love the theme naming.

I'm just a squire, I'm not sure which sect I'll join.

I guess most people don't come into this knowing exactly where they're going to be. [She flushes slightly.] It probably takes the excitement out of the whole squiring process when you just know.

More like it takes the stress out of it. [ she wishes she knew where the hell she should end up. jail, probably. ]

It'll come to you. Like... what are you good at? What do you like doing when you're on missions? [She bites the inside of her cheek.] Have you been on a mission?

I went to Andres. I was a medic. [ non-magic cleric. oh well. her lips press together, but it's the only outward sign of how not great andres was for her. (bluff 32)

it also doesn't answer the question. because what she is really good at is, well, murder. ]
