[ awkward beat ] It doesn't bother you, does it?

[confusion draws her brows together as she tilts her head to the side.]


Does what bother me? [S-so confused]

The... looking, I guess.

[attollores]

[She chuckles, shaking her head] No, it doesn't bother me. Not when yer the one doing it.

Well, I guess that works out then.

[attollores]

[She holds his eyes for an extended moment, smile still playing at the corners of her mouth. Looking around her face falls a bit, biting her bottom lip.] I- [she clears her throat] -what if someone sees us, Mark?

[Concern laces her voice as she cranes her head to look around, not wanting to leave the shelter of his arms but pulling away just a bit. She doesn't want to cause him any more trouble than she already had, regret filling her stomach.]

[ that causes him to hesitate, but he looks pained by his own hesitation. there's an apology in his eyes as he looks back at her. ] I care a lot less about what they might gossip about but... There's already a chance I'm going to hurt Lara. I'd rather it was something I told her myself.

[attollores]

[She knows. She already knows.

Nodding, she draws away from him, reaching for the basket once more.] It'd probably be a good thing not to say anything to her until ye know... [swallow] until ye know whether or not this is something that can actually... be. No need to hurt her feelings needlessly if this doesn't work out.

[This was the part she knew would have to come, the one that would hurt far worse than before. He loved her, she loved him, and it really, honestly, truly might not be enough.]

I'm sorry, Alainn. That it has to be like this.

[attollores]

[Her eyes close briefly as she inhales, composing herself once more (Willsave: 30). There is no sadness in her gaze as she looks at him again, a small smile on her mouth as she leans forward and kisses his cheek gently. She takes a step backwards as she draws away, smile still in place.] I know ye are, Mark. I'm sorry too. But ye have to do what ye have to do.

[She hauls the basket up to her hip, her chin lifted proudly as she says-] I love ye, Marcus Andres. No matter what happens, I want ye to remember that.

[nosdacariad]

[ he gets caught up in staring at her for another moment, before he can't help himself and reaches out to stroke her jaw briefly with one hand ] I love you too. No matter what.

[attollores]

[She presses a soft kiss to his palm, her hand brushing over his soft and brief.]

I'll keep in touch. [And she's backing up a few more steps to take her leave.]

I hope so. [ s-so earnest. and with that, he'll slowly back the other way... and they'll eventually manage to walk away maybe ]

[To her credit she only looks back a few times, but when she is certain that he is walking away as well then she would just keep going, not wanting to draw out their goodbye longer than necessary. And she really needed to go cry into her soup or something.
