Last April, a kindly book seller and purveyor of magical lore found himself the victim of an attack via mail when dangerous magical creatures were sent to his shop from the untraceable sender "PTC".  Since then, Wynn's been tracking the mail system, waiting for that name to pop up again, in case it might lead them to find out who was behind the first attack, and stop any other disasters from occurring.  Recently, something popped up on the radar, so the Knights have to find a way into the exclusive restaurant the Spider's Web in Manchester, or its attached nightclub The Lagoon Club.

That... is a shockingly well thought out plan. If I slip off to the bathroom also, I can work some magic and creep around all invisible-like.

Just make sure there's always someone at the table. That way they don't get suspicious that we ran off without paying or something similar.

All right. How's this? Alisha and Kate can take the bathroom trip. Cordy can flounce off and go get a drink and Phineas can go off to see where the other two went. I'll stay at the table. Since I speak drow, I might be able to catch what the waiters are saying to each other when they think the customers can't understand them.

[Kate mulls it over and nods.]

[Cordy and Bambi are at least somewhat in the same room with the table and the bartender, and Phineas will be invisible, but if something goes down, the rest of the team is there for back up.]

[ cordelia rolls her eyes and raises her voice stridently: ] It's always about you, isn't it? I'm having a serious crisis here, and it's like nobody cares! [ huffily, she snatches up her clutch and gets to her feet, saying coldly. ] Call me when the food comes. [ and makes a beeline for the bar. (bluff 21???) ]

[Sounds good. Phineas nods in response to the plan, and in the meantime might as well signal a waiter and get himself a drink. He'll wait until a bit after the girls have gone before he sneaks off to the bathroom himself to prepare.]

[In the meantime he'll act natural at the table making smalltalk with a Bluff 18]

[ Alisha stands up and grabs the little bag she's got with her, looking towards Kate a little exasperated. ]

Well are you coming?

[ Because that's how this works, right? ]

[Yep, that works well enough for her. She'll nod and get up to follow her to the bathroom. Good luck, Bambi.]

[Bambi looks on after them.] If you think I'm ordering for you, you've got another thing coming!

[that said, she's going to try to listen to some of the chatter going on around her (listen 17)]

[ most of what she overhears is generic small talk, but she'd also swear that she overheard sir ian mckellan's voice. in fact, the clientele of this place seems full of celebrity on every level - a good knowledge (local) check could recognize some prominent politicians and members of the local media out for a night on the town.

the waitress comes back to drop off drinks. ]

She clears her throat when the waitress comes by.]

Hey. Are you guys hiring here?

[ "Not that I have heard, but you could always put in a application just in case. Mr. Ken'lyn is a good man to work for." ]

Is he really? [Bambi leans forward a bit.] I mean he must be something else if all these people are flocking to him. I mean... is that Ricky Gervais over there? I think that's Ricky Gervais. Nice.

[ she smiles saccharinely. "We pride ourselves on our exclusivity. It makes our clientele feel safe here." ]

That's great. [She leans closer.] Hey d'you think I could speak to the Big Boss? I just wanna tell 'em what a great place he's got here and thank him personally. Bigwigs like that kinda thing, right? And he deserves it.

[Look, it's not a lie. It's a fucking great place. Unfortunately, she... rolled an 8 diplomacy, so idk what she expects here.]

Yeah, that'd be great. [ponders the merits of writing YOU MAY HAVE A SUSPICIOUS DELIVERY or CHECK RECEIVING ROOM FOR SPIDERS on a comment card... no probably a bad idea.] Thanks.

[she'll figure something out before she gets back.]

Wow, I should not have had chimi-changas for lunch. Where's the men's room? [He asks rhetorically, as he gets up, and saunters away to work his mojo.]

[ as the waitress moves to leave, she points towards the front of the restaurant, before drifting elsewhere. ]

Whelp. Nothing left to do but see if she can spot a bus boy and lure him over here. (spot 19) Casually adjusts her cleavage. Oh wait. She's dressed terribly and probably looks like a fourteen year old boy. I don't know what she expects to do when she finds one, but SHE IS LOOKING]

[Phineas emerges from the bathroom after a few moments. He made the executive decision to go for Disguise Self over Invisibility (After noticing he can only be invisible for 2 rounds at this level, whoops) The good news is he is disguised as club staff, with a Disguise check of 29, and a 21 Bluff to act the part.]

[He'll attempt to make his way to the kitchen? He assumes there's some kind of kitchen, some place he can find a general ledger of shipments, to see if he can pick out their mystery box.]

[ no one seems to pay him any mind whatsoever as he heads into the kitchen, where meals are being busily prepared. a small alcove to the left seems to be the pantry, and there's a hall that breaks off to the right with four visible doors. one of them has the word EXIT over it in glowing lights at the end of the hall. the other doors are less visible from his angle. ]

[Searching around with a... Crit fail. Action point? Another crit fail. It is destined. Phineas will wander aimlessly, looking for something important.]

[ as phineas wanders into the kitchen, one of the cooks cries out as something literally jumps out of the pot and hits the floor, heading for the door - which is where phineas is standing???? it's this horrible thing and it's snapping its claws furiously at him. hi. ]
