Last April, a kindly book seller and purveyor of magical lore found himself the victim of an attack via mail when dangerous magical creatures were sent to his shop from the untraceable sender "PTC".  Since then, Wynn's been tracking the mail system, waiting for that name to pop up again, in case it might lead them to find out who was behind the first attack, and stop any other disasters from occurring.  Recently, something popped up on the radar, so the Knights have to find a way into the exclusive restaurant the Spider's Web in Manchester, or its attached nightclub The Lagoon Club.

Or we just find some hot shot that'll just invite us down there. [ She's really not enjoying the whole sneaking around thing. ]

[Beckett pauses for a moment, before tipping her head to the side.]

I could try my luck with the bugbear at the door?

[He seemed to be digging it. Maybe that's something she could use to their advantage.]

[arrested]

Yeah well I was thinking more one of the people going here. Aim a bit higher than the bouncer, yeah?

True, but if we use a patron to get us in, they will expect us to actually hang out with them. While it may be good for getting information on the place it doesn't really give us room to move around.

[Unless Alisha wants to take up the position of distraction for the evening.]

Yeah well good job there's two of us then isn't there? Just find me someone rich, I'll worry about getting us in, you can do the moving around.

[She smirks a bit before nodding, and making gesturing for her to follow her lead to the stairs that lead down to the club. She scans the crowd before they get too close to the door*, looking to see if there's a good target available (spot 14).

[ the entrance to the club is around back of the building, as far as they can tell, so they can head outside to check around? just checkin' before i go into more detail ]

[Yes, let's go with that. That is what they did, they went outside to look around.]

[allaboutme]

[ there's nobody who they identify as really visibly 'rich' or famous... but there are like moderately attractive single dudes, some human, but most a mix of shadowkind species. ]

[ Alisha has a bit of a look over the guys, and goes and (ostensibly) joins the queue. She turns her head up towards one of them, but doesn't really smile, more gives a 'who gave you permission to be in my personal space' look. This how she do. But also nat 20 on the charisma check so it's apparently something pretty effective? Who knows, man. ]

[Yeah, Kate is seriously not even trying (charisma ... 3). She's not even really paying attention to what Alisha is doing and focusing on trying to see if there's another way she can sneak in just in case (spot 26).]

[ people look practically afraid of kate over there (S-SO INTENSE) but the guy with a faux hawk that alisha approaches starts grinning like a doof, glancing back at his friend when she ignores him, and then leaning over her shoulder to say.

"Can't believe a girl like you's not on the VIP list." his cheesy charisma check was a 17 ok. s-so suave. ]

[arrested]

[ She doesn't look at him like he's complete shit, which is pretty much as good as it gets for now. ]

Yeah? Are you?

[allaboutme]

[ he tugs on his lapels with pride. "Yeah, I'm on there." ]

[It's like the guy said the magic words because Kate does a complete one-eighty as her attention lands back on the guy in front of her (charisma nat 20). We'll just say he doesn't notice in the nat 20 of it all.

Then again, she's supposed to be playing as some kind of socialite and Alisha's got the HBIC working for her, so maybe that just really works for him.]

Think you can get us in?

[ he looks them both over, adjusting his lapels.

"Well uh, yeah - if you're gonna save me a dance, ladies." ]

[arrested]

[ alisha scoffs, like yeah right. as if that's the way this sort of thing works. ]

Yeah if you say so.

[ obviously she's really putting herself out here. ]

Well come on then, why we waiting in this bullshit queue?

[Kate nods in agreement before raising an eyebrow at their would be meal ticket expectantly.]

Can't get that dance if we don't actually go inside.

[allaboutme]

[ he tugs on his lapels and nods towards the front of the line.

"Well, let's go then." he's only to happy to proudly declare himself to be Stu Carver and give them little stupid grins as the bouncer checks the list, finds him, and grunts as he gestures him inside.

they're led into a short hall, at the end of which they can see the kitchen. and... phineas, who appears to be yelling at the staff. their friend ignores his and rubs his hands together as they stop in front of a pair of elevator doors here in the hall, which the bugbear elevator attendant opens for them. stu gestures to alisha.

"Ladies first?" ]

[Kate's eyes catch sight of Phineas as they're making their way down the hallway and she manages to keep herself together even though she is incredibly confused by the shenanigans afoot (will save 26). She glances back to their date at the sound of his voice before nodding with a smile as she pulls out her phone and sends a text Phineas's way: Everything copasetic?]

[ Right, okay, they got this far. Does Alisha have to dance with the guy now because ew. She looks towards Kate, well she's supposed to be the boss here right? She speaks to her in a whisper. ]

What now?

[allaboutme]

[ their date heads into the elevator and then smiles out at them as the bugbear raises a big furry eyebrow at them.

"You gettin' in?" he rumbles ]

[Kate glances over with a smile then nods.]

Yep. Let's go.

[And with that she'll take Alisha's arm gently and lead her onto the elevator. Sorry, it looks like they might have to do a little dancing.]

[ the elevator doors slide closed without a sound, leaving them sealed in a beautifully appointed and surprisingly roomy car. as it begins to descend, they notice that the sensation of movement is barely perceptible. they might not even realize the car is moving if not for the stylized spider images in each corner of the car that illuminate in rapid succession in time to the dropping conveyance, appearing to fall from the ceiling along a thread-thin line of light before disappearing into the floor and appearing again at the ceiling. ]

[Kate eyes the descending spiders for a moment, before asking, idly, to their mark and the bugbear operator.]
