While scams about genetically modified corn wouldn't normally fall under the purview of the Knights, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation has called in assistance from Wynn because of reports of the two agents investigating the matter running into some sort of Shadowkind that attacked them at the silos containing the corn in question.

The Knights fly out to Tennessee to check out the situation, and Christos drives them directly towards the silos in question, which are three lonely, old looking structures set in the middle of a field far away from any other civilization.

If the ground isn't too frozen for it, reptilian creatures should leave very distinctive tracks, one way or another. [ so survival or search checks might help ]

[ crouching down, amy tries to suss out some tracks, but with a 4 for both... this is what happens when you bring a baby level one on a mission. maybe she finds a dormouse instead. ] No one got a proper sketch of 'em did they, because I can't help imagining the thing in From Hell It Came.

A question for the agents, I imagine. [ not him :| his check wasn't much better tbh so they sort of pace around outside the silos for a bit, but so far no one sees anything to indicate anything unusual has passed through here ]

[ what the doctor would discover that's perhaps more strange than anything else is that there is literally no sign at all of any intruders. a few regular shoe prints here and there seem to correspond with some comings and goings, but there's no marks of non-humans, no clues, nothing to indicate anything was amiss. ]

You won't have to look far. [ an unmarked black car is pulling up to park behind their own vehicle even now. ] That must be them.

[ Sebastian arched a brow. He had been expecting something more of the FBI. Sad.]

Hello Agents. [ that's what they're called in real life, right? OF COURSE. she sticks out her hand to shake with whomever winds up being closest to her. ] I'm Amy Pond of the Karther Institute.

out of the driver's seat unfolds a man in a dark suit, with dark brown hair, hazel eyes and what might be model-like features if it were for his big nose (god love him). the passenger is a dark haired, long-legged woman with a somewhat severe aspect.

amy's hand is already extended in front of his chest by the time he straightens up, which draws a little smirk out of the agent. he gives her hand a warm clasp, digging into his coat to pull out a badge with the other. ] Agent Mulder, FBI. [ he nods sideways across the car at the woman. ] This is my partner, Agent Fowley.

[ because it's amy, of all people, she finds the nose handsome and endearing. she smiles widely between the two agents, probably more effusive toward mulder, but literally no one is surprised. ]

I was expecting those little blue jackets. [ hard to tell if she is disappointed or not as she pulls her hand back to shake with fowley. ]

[ fowley's grip is more crisp and business-like, as she glances across the lot of them, barely concealing her surprise at their own casual appearance. ] I suppose that makes two of us who had misplaced expectations.

We were told your Institute specializes in identifying and contacting Shadowkind species. I can assure you that whatever attacked Agent Mulder and myself was definitely not of this world.

[ Look at this Oscar worthy faux shock on the Doctor's face. Only nah, he's barely trying. ]

What you mean aliens? Blimey.

[ Nudge nudge, Pond, did you hear that? ]

I think what Agent Fowley was referring to was beings from another dimension. [ a beat, as he casts an amused glance at the other agent ] Non-human Shadowkind.

[ are you insinuating that flannel isn't fbi chic? SOMEONE TELL WILL GRAHAM. amy smirks at the doctor's nudge,but aliens are old hat okay. she had one living in her house for twelve years. ]

We do. Specialize, that is. This is Doctor John Smith, you can call him Doctor. Mssrs La Krail and Trevethor, security and containment specialists. [ casually bullshits. (bluff 24) but it's also probably pretty accurate. ]

But since you're our eyewitnesses, maybe you could give us a better description than the little we were given?

This was meant to be a routine investigation. We were only called in for it because we happened to be in the area when the case comes across our AD's desk.

We were already inside the silos when they appeared. It was if they came out of nowhere. We counted four of them, but there were no lights inside the structures, and one of them knocked the flashlight out of my hand before we could get a clear look at them. [ she holds up her arm, drawing back the sleeve, and they can see claw marks attempting to heal on her wrist ] We at least know there are no traces of poison.

From what we could see, they were small, scaled, and had what I could only call long snouts.

[ small, scaled, with long snouts. in amy's mind that narrows it down to crocodiles, but she doubts that is the case and so she pulls out her phone to pull a rory, i mean, take a picture. ]

May I? [ she motions between the phone and her wrist, question obvious even as she continues questioning, glancing at mulder. ] Did you have a similar... [ what's the word when it's possibly aliens? ] Encounter?

[ agent fowley nods, allowing her to snap a pic, as mulder watches. ] Seeing as how I was there, I can certainly corroborate Agent Fowley's story. Whatever they were, they walked on their hind legs, and they didn't seem interested in talking. If they were some kind of lizardfolk, maybe they'd built a nest that we'd walked in on.

I've not met lizard blokes yet. Rubbish, mind you. [ the last part is directed at the doctor as she passes him the phone. the phone with the picture because she was worried he would lick fowley's arm or sniff it or something ridiculous as he is prone to doing and fowley is an american fbi agent.

they probably have guns. she might shoot the doctor if he licked and/or sniffed her so amy attempted the no licking plan. ] All I got was a great big eyeball threatening to "incinerate the human residence" over the ice cream truck loud speaker and a toothy eel thing livin' in my back room.

[ she does not actually sound overly disappointed about that, fyi, eyes bright and smile ever cheerful. actual alien enthusiast up in here. ] It may be you just don't speak lizard. Or Parseltongue.

[ mulder chuckles, drawing a bag of sunflower seeds out of his pocket and downing a handful. he proffers the bag to agent fowley, who shakes her head slightly, and then he holds it out to amy. ] Well, you're right about that. And we didn't exactly have time to turn on Google Translate. Does one of you speak Lizard?

[ um of course she is going to take some sunflower seeds, smiling flirtatiously with a murmured thanks. it's the nose. she doesn't know why, but the nose, it speaks to her on a deep, emotional level. ]

Not unless they're Scottish.

[ The Doctor takes the phone, turning it upside down to look at it, before turning his head and then finally turning it the right way up, only half listening to them as he tries to do the two finger pinchy zoom thing. ]

Depends on the species of Lizard. Speak most of them though.

[ He lowers it down and grins, handing the phone back towards Amy. ]

You know one of my best friends is a Lizard.

[ Sebastian was listening and once he was done smoking he finally made his way over to stand near them.]

Then let's just hope that they haven't moved on yet. If they have, you've come a long way for nothing. [ with that, fowley pushes past them towards the silos, and finds the way blocked by christos, who has neither introduced himself, nor contributed to the conversation, glowering instead from the back in his customary dark cloak. she pauses in front of him, eyes widening slightly, then looks back at amy, the doctor, and sebastian as if to confirm that he's their.... bodyguard or something, before she says: ] Excuse me. [ and makes her way around him. ]
