While scams about genetically modified corn wouldn't normally fall under the purview of the Knights, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation has called in assistance from Wynn because of reports of the two agents investigating the matter running into some sort of Shadowkind that attacked them at the silos containing the corn in question.

The Knights fly out to Tennessee to check out the situation, and Christos drives them directly towards the silos in question, which are three lonely, old looking structures set in the middle of a field far away from any other civilization.

[ Sebastian stepped out next, looking around with a bit not as put off by the nothingness as one might expect. He pulled his cigarettes out and started to place one between his lips and spoke past it.]

[ ignoring y'all, christos frowns up at the silos, watching for any signs of movement and seeing none. ] Whatever was here may have simply been some sort of scavenger. It's possible we won't run into anything, but regardless, have your wits about you. [ his brisk tone makes it clear he... expects y'all to need a reminder of that. ]

[ grabbing her knapsack, she slings it over one shoulder. ] Come on then. Doctor, can you check to see if anything is around with the sonic?

[ he makes a show of checking his pockets. ] Pond, did you pack your wits?

[ he gives her a grin and pulls his sonic out, tossing it once. ]

Could do, yeah. Depends what we're looking for though, hard to narrow it down otherwise. It'll just find stuff.

If the ground isn't too frozen for it, reptilian creatures should leave very distinctive tracks, one way or another. [ so survival or search checks might help ]

[ the next day, christos actually dons a real suit for the first time in so far as anyone here as actually probably seen, rather than his customary old-world cloak and all-black outfit. and what's more surprising that he actually looks pretty damn good (disguise 18). he looks up at the perfect-looking little suburban home in front of them, picket fence and all, and quips dryly as they head towards the door: ] Here's hoping this isn't a spectacular waste of our time.

a middle-aged african american man answers the door, looks between them all with surprise and a hint of apprehension at what they might be here for. "... Can I help you?" ]

[ his eyebrows raise further, clearly unsettled slightly by a group of irs agents showing up on his doorstep. weird.

"I, uh, of course. Did ... did I miss a call?" ] We were in the neighborhood, and were hoping to settle this matter swiftly. [ christos' crit fail bluff check means that he's not even pretending to be an irs agent in bearing, i guess, instead he's staring the man down like he might have to kill him, which is his usual demeanor, tbh. ]

[ christos utterly ignores amy's glance, staring straight ahead, awaiting robert's response with an air of impatience. perhaps to his credit as a husband, robert doesn't seem to respond to amy's flirtations in any way.
