With most of the team staunchly convinced that about to go check out Area 51, they head off to Guadalajara, Mexico, to investigate local rumors of a crash site outside the city. One of the best things about this little trip is that even in February, it's in the seventies, so there's definitely a vacation air to arriving in the bustling city. They'll need to rent a car and head out in the direction of the supposed crash in the flat countryside. It's a fourteen hour flight so get comfortable.

[ kali's shot strikes ortega as castille wrestles with carol. alex gets morales in the shoulder, while the arrow embeds itself in ortega.

castille disengages from carol to keep backing away, leading her further from the group and firing again. his shot is a crit fail though, whizzing past her ear and striking morales (7 dmg). his second shot of a 24 misses as well, i think.

gomez struggles to his feet, and makes a break for a panel on the wall. morales fires at alex again (atk 19 and 14), missing both times. ortega takes 5 more acid dmg, hissing as he shoots at malina (atk 13 & 19, dmg 5). ]

Oh no you don't! [ abandoning the retinal scanner for now, kali moves forward and fires on gomez, whom i will now only imagine is a gomez from the addams family lookalike. (atk nat 20, 26 total with range penalty; dmg 29) ]

[Yeah there will be no going for panels. Carol gives up on Castille for the moment, flying over to intercept Gomez, coming down hard foot first, though she does hold back a little (atk 30, subdual dmg 17). She won't kill if she has the choice.]

[alex stays locked in his shoot-out with morales lmao, firing again with a ranged atk 25 and then a NAT 20 BITCHES. for 8 and 14 dmg.]

[The word is a hiss as the third bullet hits, and she retaliates quickly, falling back on an old spell that she knows well and casting Flaming Sphere right in Ortega's face (fire damage 9, reflex save DC 16 to negate damage, fireball lasts for 7 rounds as a note to myself).]

[ kali's shot cracks gomez in the back, and he lets out a shout, but it's carol's foot in his back moments later that lays him flat, his head cracking to the floor as unconsciousness takes him.

alex peppers morales with a couple more great shots, one hitting him right in the leg, blossoming blood through his pants.

ortega is definitely not expecting FIRE TO HIS FACE, and shakes his head back and forth screaming as he's burned.

castille backs further towards the doors through which they entered the place, firing again at carol (atk 15). morales sees gomez go down and grimaces, firing again at alex (atk 12) and yelling "Fall back!" ortega is only happy to fucking run from that fireball, also making a break for castille. ]

Hey! Alex, Carol, stop them! [ malina is hurt so kali puts her on the back burner for a second as she hurries to gomez's unconscious body. he doesn't need to be away for the retinal scan, tbh. and malina can help her deal with that when she reaches him. which she probably will next round. so... she's just moving for this one. ]

[Carol's already flying to intercept, landing in front of the door so she can block anyone who tries to get to it and shooting a blast of energy at Castille (atk 22, dmg 9).]

[as much as alex would love to finish off morales, he listens to kali and starts firing at castille instead. annnd that's two atk 14s that probably don't hit wheeee.]

[As Ortega flees from her fireball, she'll have it follow after him, hitting him in the back again (flaming sphere round 2 - fire damage 10, reflex save DC 16 to negate). She will also cast Mage Armor on herself giving her a +4 boost to AC, bringing her up to 18 AC for 7 hours. She should have done that sooner, but hindsight is 20/20 and bullet wounds hurt.]

[ ortega manages to dodge malina's fireball, even if castille can't escape carol's energy blast.

castille grimaces at carol blocking their path, glancing at his compatriots before shouting to the others: ] Stand down!

[ they look uncertain, and the flicker in their eyes as they look back at the knights makes it apparent that they suspect these people might be ready to kill them. but they all lower their weapons, lifting their hands, as castille turns a baleful look on carol ]

[ love a good surrender. kali looks between malina and the guards for a moment before deciding to just barrel on with getting skye and peter unless told otherwise. gonna holster her gun and pick up gomez in a fireman's carry? (str 18) ]

Good plan.

Good boys. [Carol smirks and lets the energy on her hands fizzle out. If they're going to surrender, she's not going to press the attack. She doesn't move from the door in case they change their minds.]

Any chance you feel like cooperating and giving us detailed directions on where our friends are being taken and where the ship is?

[ alex doesn't move (i.e. holds action), but keeps his gun out in case these ppl get any ideas about not being cooperative. ]

[Malina doesn't move either, but she does leave the fireball hanging there (flaming sphere round 3) as a looming threat, almost as though to say do you see Ortega's face? His face could be your face if you do not tell them what they need to know (intimidate 21).]

[ despite their intimidating front, these are clearly well trained soldiers, and while they might be backing down from fighting further, that doesn't mean any of them are willing to betray their orders.

castille speaks up, eyeing that fireball warily ] That's not our assignment.

[ kali is ignoring all y'all, tbh, carrying gomez over to the door. this has been a tag. this tag his happening. ]

And what is your assignment? Take us to some holding cell? Because we're clearly past that. [Carol eyes them, expression hard (intimidate 13).] Help us out, and no one else needs to get hurt.

It's your new fuckin' assignment, because the alternative is being dead. How about that?

[Malina surveys the situation for a moment before shaking her head and taking a step back. She just wants to get to their people, and is isn't going to get them anywhere.]

They're not going to tell us anything. Just tie them up and make sure they can't communicate with the rest of their people.

[And that's with her team leader voice while she's going to follow Kali to see if she can help with Gomez. Away from all the guns.]

[ they grimace at that, but it seems preferable to the other options, so they won't protest being tied up, and each one has a headset that can be removed. meanwhile they lug gomez' body over to the doors. ]

[ to malina, since she's helping: ] We should keep one of the walkie talkies. I think we just need to open his eyes for this retinal scanner. [ she's not 100% sure though because she... usually uses a different kind of scanner. ] I don't want to slap him awake and then have him panic and try to flee. It's very frustrating when they try to flee.

[Well, Carol doesn't really have rope, so she'll just search the men for handcuffs, as well as keys or anything else they have on them that might come in handy (search 19).]

Don't suppose any of you brought rope, did you?

[he keeps his gun on them in case anyone gets ideas about funny business while carol searches them.] Yo, Kali! Malina! You got rope?

[Malina doesn't, but she moves over to Kali to unzip her bag and look inside, trying not to jostle the guy on her shoulder too much. She ferries out the rope and then tosses it over to Alex (ranged attack 16).]
