The streets of Bern swell with the myriad sights and scents of its industry: the wood and polish of carpenters' shops, tantalizing aromas wafting from dozens of bakeries, and the heavy oil scent of artists.  Meanwhile, hundreds of rich colors give the district an appearance of a holiday festival.  The townhouse of Asheron Coyl comes into view, perched on a small rise that overlooks the street.  A low fence covered in vines abuts the street.  A gate opens onto a flagstone path that wends past frozen flower beds, fountains, and sculpted shrubs to the front doors.  A bell hangs next to the gate, reading "Please ring bell" in several languages.  With an 11 disguise check, Nyna didn't really bother to dress all fancy, opting instead for her paladin armor, sorry guys.   She can be the sexy bodyguard.

[ he wields his axe like a madman, lifting it to turn it on alanna, but crit fails, and one of mellie's claws managed to... rip out one of the tendons in his legs or something, causing him to drop to one knee. he tries to swing back at the bear (atk 24, dmg 30) and once at cara, but his strength is clearly nearly gone (atk 9). ]

[Felicity can hear what he's saying from the balcony (listen 31) and it doesn't take much to put together what the warrior is saying (wisdom nat 20). She holds from shooting again and shouts up instead.]

We're not here to steal from you, and we don't work for Archerus. We're here because you're hurting innocent people and we can't let that keep happening.

[There's a beat as she lets that sink in.]

I know Archerus stole from you, but this isn't the way to get back at him.

[Stiles grabs the letter opener and runs back, but there's like...a lion and a bear. And all these bad ass ladies, so??? He'll hold action and use his makeshift dagger if he has to. But for now he just doesn't want to get in the way.]

[ mellie attacks again, but will less gusto because OMG OW. rude man! (claw atk 22 & crit fail, dmg 13 & 6; bite atk 21, dmg 7)

gus roars when mellie is hurt (sorry, stiles' ears) and casts another cure moderate wounds, this time on himself in other to share it with mellie. (+19 hp) ]

[ She wants to believe that something in Felicity's words can bring him to his senses, but it doesn't appear to be doing much for him. Crazy guy is just crazy. So she swings her blade again (atk 27, dmg 7+9 fire damage from being imbued with produce flame bc it's got a total of 5 rounds). She goes to stab him with a finishing blow, but crit fails. ]

[ lmfao if he was going to respond, it's cut off by... being mauled and stabbed to death. mellie does accidentally swipe alanna once, so that 6 dmg goes to her. luckily, the guy dies before her crit fail...

[SIGH. Okay, they need to find the source of these creepy paint people and get actual answers. But first, Felicity has to get back in the house.]

Hold up a sec, I'm coming back in.

[And she will make her way around and up the stairs again.]

[ Alanna turns, once she's certain that he's slain, and sheathes her blade. She shakes her shoulders out, a darkness in her eyes that gives the impression that wielding the thing took some great toll on her, but then she steps forward and reaches for Stiles. ]

Come. [ She covers his remaining wounds with her hand and a purple light warms him from within (cure light wounds, +8 hp). ]

Thanks. [He says with a flicker of a smile to Alanna before turning his head to look at the Gus!Lion and add:]

You, too, Garfield. I appreciate it.

[ gus shifts back to human, wiping blood from his mouth. i'm sure it's not disquieting at all. ]

[ better than aslan probably. meanwhile MELLIE WILL LOOT THE BODY lmao ]

[ mellie noses at the body and three potions go rolling out on the floor - a potion of bull's strength and two of cure light wounds. other than his weird leaf armor and masterwork greataxe, that's all she wrote. ]

I'm going to guess our leafy friend is a good indicator that we're on the right track at least.

[He'll scoop up those potions since he's the least useful when it comes to battle and what not. He can at least hold things for you guys.]

[ She turns to look down the hall in the direction Stiles had been wedged away from the fight, and she nods. ]

If it's answers we want, I believe Sir Stilinski is right: we're more likely to find them this way than any other. [ And with a quick glance around at them, she'll just lead the way because sword. ]

[Felicity catches up with them and follows Alanna's lead, bringing up the rear with her gun drawn and her eyes peeled (spot 19, listen 18).]

[ there are two doors in this hallway, on the left hand side, and two hallways that branch off from it on the right. ]

[Felicity goes to the doors on the left first, reaching to try the door knobs to see if they're locked. If they're not, she'll push them open to check what's inside, and if they are she'll try and see if there's a lock to pick.]

[ the first door is open, and she pushes it forward to reveal some kind of studio. stretched canvas, picture frames, a worktable with neat rows of covered jars of paint and an assortment of brushes laid out carefully on it, and several easels holding works in progress occupy most of the space in the art studio. a few finished paintings stand propped against one of the walls. some look quite beautiful, while others are unsettling and repugnant. it's kept neat and tidy, and the most recently finished portrait, that sits on an easel yet has a note beside it that labels it "Justice and Vindication". it depicts a dark haired man lying on a bed of black and red wasps and screaming in utter agony. the thousands of vermin are biting, stinging, and chewing their way into his flesh. some of them crawl beneath his skin. others crawl in and out of his gaping mouth, nose, and ears. ]

[ Alanna looks unimpressed with this room and tries the second door tbh. ]

[ gus is gonna peer more closely at the painting in question. and poke it. just in case. ]

[Felicity is unsure about the poking because they really don't need a swarm of wasps to come and attack them, but at the same time, she's thinking of the guy they were supposed to be trying to save.]

Do you think someone could survive something like that?

[Felicity just wrinkles her nose, and if this is the main working area where he paints, she's willing to bet that whatever he has to make his paintings dangerous is in this room, so she's going to look for it (search 16).]
