Metropolis is a bustling city even during these cold winter months, but they have no trouble finding the Luthorcorp building - because it literally towers over the skyline, dwarfing the Daily Planet nearby. It's still daytime when they arrive, working hours, and employees in well tailored suits hustle in and out towards elevator banks, past the front desk.

[ Cover from the car protects Felicity from a bullet, but only barely, as she helps Oliver inside. A scattered array of bullets ping around the last of them as they all hustle to the car, Emma and Clark at the back of the pack. With Felicity worrying over Oliver's wounds, and Emma dealing with a through-and-through in her shoulder, Emma waves for Bo to get in the driver's seat and takes shotgun for herself. Somehow, this car fits them all including Clark and Lois. Don't worry about it. They brought a van. It's fine. ]

[How may times Brantley has to say it before you guys belief him. He wants to say "I told you so," but this is not the time for it since someone has been shot. Instead, Brantley helps Felicity patches Oliver's wound with whatever thing he can do, making improvised bandage or such. (treat injury 11)] Are you okay? Nothing fatal, right?

[He was probably less injured than Bo or Emma, even with the gunshot wound tbh.]

We need to hightail it to a hospital.

Our injuries are our own. [ Stoic and unrelenting, Emma nonetheless has her jaw clenched against the pain, one hand pressed over the bullet wound in her shoulder that's staining her white coat and the rental car. ] You need only focus on preparing a story for us to present to the Daily Planet by the time we're in Metropolis.

[ But she glanced back over her shoulder to take a look at Oliver's injuries, then exchanged an uncertain glance with Bo. ] Hospitals are required to make a police report for all gunshot wounds they treat. They'll know where we've come from if we stop. [ And the secrecy of the Knighthood must be upheld via their anonymity. ] Do the best you can to stop the bleeding and cover it up. We'll deal with it back at the castle.

[Clark's eyebrows raise. Castle? Didn't they say knights before too? Man he wants to ask questions but that might lead to them talking about his powers and Lois is here so he just....sits here.]

[Felicity glowers at Oliver. They didn't bring magic herbs!! He can't just magically heal from this. They don't even really have much of anything in the way of first aid that she's aware of. She'll quick glance around the car/van (spot 18) to see if there's a first aid kit stowed somewhere.]

[ Rolled for it. There's nothing :( stupid rental car and its lack of safety features. But Felicity's 23 from earlier can take a -4 penalty due to lack of medkit and still successfully restore 1d4 hit points to Oliver. ]

[Oliver seems to be doing fine all on his own, apparently, she'll go to help Emma in an attempt to keep their deposit on this rental car... they don't take kindly to bloodstains, she's pretty sure. (treat injury 23-4 = 19) (Emma gets a +3 to her HP).]

[ lois manages an impressive amount of self-restraint, despite wanting to fire off a million questions at all, so that she can focus on writing. she gets a 25 on her check to do so! which is really great for a slapdash job ok ]

[Apparently that leaves Bo driving the car, but despite her injuries she speeds away like a fucking pro (drive nat 20).]

Definitely no hospital. We'll be fine.

[ Felicity manages to stifle the bleeding on both Oliver and Emma's wounds once Emma strips her jacket off, and she gives Felicity an affirming look that doesn't quite reach gratitude because that would require more humility than Emma has. Humans don't get gratitude from Emma Frost, sry2say. That doesn't mean she doesn't appreciate the gesture, and when the mutant master race rules the world, Felicity will be spared.

It takes about twenty minutes to get back into town with Bo's drive check as it is, and Lois takes the whole of that time putting her article together. As they move into the metropolitan area downtown, nearing the Daily Planet central offices, Emma glances up at Lois in the rear view mirror. ]

Lois, was it? Let me see what you've got. [ She reaches back with her uninjured hand. ]

What, you're an editor now too? Just how many hats do you wear, lady? [ still, she'll proudly hand it over. the spelling is atrocious, but the content is a+ ]

As many as the situation requires.

[ She skimmed the article, searching for mentions of how the information was acquired or any sign of the Knights' presence that they might have needed to clean up, but there were none. A satisfied smile settled onto her face. ]

You wouldn't be bad, with access to spellcheck. How would you like to leave the Inquisitor behind for good?

[Brantley tries to help in whatever way he can. Since he is not expert enough to treat other people wounds. He is just gonna help Felicity in treating the others (aid another-treat injury 10). Unless they need him to do something like calling his contacts or flirting with the new party members.]

You see, we're in the business of uncovering information like what was found at TLC, and I certainly have no intentions of letting Lex Luthor be in the face of what we've seen.

[ the glint in her eyes does a really shitty job of disguising how interested she is in just such an arrangement. ] And who, exactly, would I be working for?

[ Glancing up at Clark in the rear view mirror, Emma seems to consider something. ]

For now, I think it best that you only think of us as the Karthur Institute. We're a global institution of protection. One I have a feeling your friend here might have great interest in joining, as well.

[Felicity glances to see if anyone else is bleeding profusely from a brand new hole in their body, but it seems everyone is fine. She'll glance to Clakr, because - oh right, there's someone else that's new in this car/van. She waves. It's only 48% awkward.]

[Don't worry, Felicity. Clark has the other 52% in the way his face pales at Emma's comment. He's really really worried that someone is going to drop some knowledge about his powers in front of Lois.]

[So smooth. And by that, I mean he's sort of bumbling here.]

[ and lois looks between them before... barking out a laugh. ] Who, Clark? [ incredulity drips from her tone as she struggles to keep it in check ] I mean, sure, I've seen Smallville flex those farmboy muscles of his a time or two, but I don't think corporate espionage is really his cup of tea.

[ Emma smiles like 8 ) because her wisdom check was high enough to glean from that fact that Lois is not in on the superpowers here (wis 20 total). ]

Sometimes, people can surprise you. I'd like to give Clark that opportunity. It's up to you, of course. [ She turned to look back at him. ] But you'd make quiet the liaison for Lois, if you were to assent.

Maybe we can talk about it after we're done with the getaway car and all of that? [And once Lois is heading in to pitch her story or something. So she's not... right here.

But the idea of getting away from this place- Metropolis and Smallville and... crazy idea here, but maybe getting out of Kansas entirely- it doesn't sound so bad.

He's running from the pain of Lana's death, but who needs to cope anyway? Running and getting involved with weird secretive organizations sounds much better and could in no way backfire.]
