The Knights arrive in Aursaburg to help the villagers with a problem they've been having with a local witch. The little village seems fairly quiet, but the team would be able to hear some rather heated words spoken a bit down the road from them. It escalates to shouting in a hurry, with the most noticeable word of the bunch being 'witch.' Faye glances at the others, realizing that oh shit- I'm in charge. Squaring her shoulders, she gestures for the group to follow her down the road.

"Sounds like our cue." Whatever is going on in this town seems to be happening thatta way.

[Taradiddle grabs it! YAY CREEPY BONE SHIELD! She heads for the stairs immediately. Maybe there's more cool horrible stuff.]

[Cora is also going to head up as well, hitting the stairs and keeping an ear out for anything above them (listen 26).]

[As Cora heads up, she would hear the rumbles of some gruff voices. Faye botched her listen check, though. So she's got no clue as she follows Cora and Taradiddle up the stairs.]

[Cora will reach forward and stop both of them, pointing her finger to her ear to indicate she's heard something but not wanting to let whoever the voices are know that they're coming.]

[Don't need to tell Taradiddle twice. Mostly because her sensitive gnome ears are picking up EVERYTHING (listen nat 20 (27 total)).]

[Bringing up the rear is this girl and she is apparently super on alert after the undead army deal because like T-Diddle, she's breaking out a Nat 20 Listen Check. (28 total).]

[Faye can't hear for shit, but everyone else is well aware of the gruff voices- three of them, to be precise.]

What are we waiting for? [Faye whispers harshly.]

[Cora will whisper that back before slowly starting to make her way up and towards the doorway, trying to see if she can catch a look at what's inside without being seen (spot 30), but that doesn't really work out as she catches her foot on the stairs and goes stumbling into the room (hide ... crit fail).

Good job being stealthy, werewolf girl. You are failing as a Hale right now.]

[Well... so much for a surprise round... As Cora goes tumbling into the room, three ogres stand up from their chairs and grab for nearby weapons.

time for init!

Actually, time for two ogres to have surprise rounds on your asses. Since Cora is the only one they can actually see, she's going to get the attention of the two who act quickly. The first of them throws a tanglefoot bag at her but it hits the wall, leaving a sticky mess behind (touch attack 11). The second ogre swings his greatclub at her- actually he does it twice with his second go and the other guy does too so three attacks total from these two (attacks: 20 total, nat 20, and 25 - damage: 10, 29, and 19.]

[Cora takes all three of those hits, and she's glad she does because she is strong enough to take it. They're hard hits though, and it leaves her pretty rough. Thankfully, shifting does gain her some of those hit points back (+11), even if she is still looking haggard, but she also can attack too.

She lunges for the nearest ogre - probably #2, and goes right for the throat (attack 24, damage 16).]

[Faye hustles up the stairs to get to Cora and finds herself looking at all these ugly ass ogres, gross. She reaches out and grabs the arm of the one Cora isn't tearing into, delivering a shocking grasp (melee touch 17, damage 27)]

[Taradiddle's gonna come up and feed Cora a few more hit points, cause she knows who the tank is and keeping the tank on her feet seems like a good way to go (cure light wounds, +8 hp). Keep taking damage so that the tiny people don't have to, giant scary wolf girl!]

[The third ogre goes to take a swing at Faye since she grabbed his buddy, but he crit fails and his weapon slips out of his fingers and goes flying across the room, whoops.]

[And Kenzi will target Numero Two as well as she moves into firing range. Atk 22 Dmg 12 (Penetration)]

[Ogre 2 swings at Cora (attack 24, damage 16) while ogre 3 goes for Faye (nat 20, damage 35). Faye is... not looking so good, gang. Like down to 16 hp not good. Ow.]

[Her werewolf armor prevents the ogre from doing too much damage on that swing, the wound almost healing completely as soon as it strikes, thanks werewolf damage resistance. And since she's not cool at all with the orges attacking her friends she's just going to promptly attempt to murder Ogre #2 right back (attack 37, damage 13, attack nat 20, damage 38).]

[Faye wants to be anywhere but where this fighting is since she's lacking in the HP department, but she can't really get OUT of the fight now, so... she takes a five foot step back and sends 5 magic missiles at ogre 3 because he hit her and she's super not okay with that. 20 more damage to him. He doesn't look great, but he's still standing.]

[Don't worry, Faye! That's why you brought a cleric! Taradiddle rushes over and smacks her across the back, healing her for 14 hp (cure moderate wounds).]

[Faye appreciates u girl. Ogre 3 runs to take the weapon off his dead friend because he's closer. He gets a swing at Cora, but... dear god this guy can't roll for shit. It's not a crit fail but it's def not hitting Cora. Sigh.]

[Welp with #2 down, Kenzi's going to help by focusing on #3 as well. Who says you can't gang up on the bad guys. Atk ... JFC she crit failed for 8 dmg. SORRY FOLKS. Maybe she'll shoot herself in the foot okay. Literally. It would be deserved.]

[Pretend that I didn't mess up and say ogre 3 just went when I meant ogre 1... Because it's ogre 3's turn now, shhhh.

Yeah, sorry Kenz. You totally got yourself right in the foot. Yeowch! Ogre 3 tries to help his buddy out with Cora, since she seems the scariest. (attack 25, damage 10)]

[The attack hits, but it's almost like it glances off her, not even leaving a dent. She lashes out at Ogre #3 next, slashing at them with both claws (attack 23, penetration damage 22, attack 24, damage 16).]

[Cora's claws drop ogre #3, leaving just numero uno standing. Faye fires off more magic missiles at him for 23 damage. Yes good magic missile auto hitting is v nice for her.]

Just die, you disgusting asshole.

[No one seems on the brink of death besides Kenzi's self-inflicted wounds, so Taradiddle holds her spells for the moment, instead raising her gun and taking a shot. Pretty ineffectually (atk 9).]

[Yeah... that last ogre just full on bolts to try to not die a horrible death like his friends. But doing so will give Cora an attack of opportunity and probably Kenzi, too who I assume is by the stairs?? So melee attacks if you ladies wanna take them. Otherwise, he gone.]
