training ♔ monday morning

WHO || Violet Reedhym, David Levin, Lan, assorted squires and mentors, your mom.
WHAT || Weapons training!
WHERE || Knights HQ, Training Room / Armory / Firing Range / Gym, Dragon's Hide wing, 2nd floor
WHEN || June 22nd, Monday morning [backdated]
HOW || Actionspam
It's that time again. New squires (and new knights who might have missed it in the hubbub) would have heard the word come 'round that there would be open weapons orientation this Monday -- which is also open to anyone who just wants to come spar with the newbies as well. As before, at the top of the main staircase is the entrance to an incredibly spacious room, that has gym and weight training equipment on the wall near the door, and then lots of old school training dummies and more at the far end. A glass door enters into a firing range, and another pair of large doors on the farthest wall lead to the armory.
Vi -- or Sir Reedhym if you're feeling like making her feel old -- is running the orientation today with a special guest of surly Sir David Levin who is being his normal strong and silent type off to the side but the wall of weapons. Sir Wellington is also in attendance, being Lan. Lanning about, as he do. The small knight toting a very teeny week old infant in a sling rounds everyone up in the center of the room to start this shit off with a loud whistle and a very cheerful, "Okay, all y'all shut up!"
Some of the squires' mentor Knights will have accompanied them - others will have left them to their own devices. Everyone's welcome to tag into threads or make their own!
tour
This is the gym, obviously. The armory is located through those doors behind me and you are free to peruse at will to your heart's content so long as you have your key card. If you have any questions direct them to Lan.
The firing range is over through these doors -- [ she points to them. ] -- and if you have any questions about ranged weapons or Excalibur certifications, you can come to me. Or Fred, if I'm not here. You must be certified by one of us to take it out into the field. We have gold stars and everything, it's very fancy up in this bitch.
If you have any questions about armor or whatever, you can ask any of us, especially Lan. He's very friendly, don't be afraid of his surly demeanor and inability to smile, he just wants you to be capable. We are here to help.
This room is always open and the Hide is the biggest sect so there is almost always someone here to help you get your shit together. David is pretty great at it, ask him things, bring him out of his awkward little turtle shell. Twenty bucks if you can make the Viking smile. And if you can't... the Cleric's Wing is across the hall. You can also just come running and crying to me as I am, in fact, a cleric.
Um. I think that's it. Stay sharp, be careful, think with your brain. Any one got questions? We don't bite.
[ snort. sorry lan. ]
I hope this tag makes you laugh ♥

melee
Pick your weapon of choice, pair up and spread out. If you've never used a hand-held weapon before I'd recommend the quarterstaff.
[He goes to pick one up and shows them how to hold it.]
It's a two handed weapon, that'll allow you a little more balance, and doesn't have a nice sharp blade at the end of it. The clerics are across the hall if you need them.
[No accidental severed fingers, please. Bruises are better.]
I'll be around if you need a partner, or have any questions.
[IF YOU WOULD LIKE DAVID SPECIFICALLY AT ANY POINT stick his name in the subject line. Otherwise, he will wander in and interject advice as needed, though I will give you a heads up before I threadjack.]
