[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions: Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask! Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. [Sark straightens a bit, rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand.] I believe Agent Bristow wishes to speak with you regarding the remaining details of the mess Mr. St. Andrew has left for us.

[he's just here because she won't let him kill Audrey Peterson.]

[ she raises her eyebrows at him like O IS THAT HOW YOU ARE GONNA PUT IT ] Specifically, Sark's role in it.

And, more importantly, where Audrey Peterson fits into all of it.

I see. I'd be interested to hear your perspective first. [ he nods to sark. HAVE AT. ]

Audrey Peterson will spin herself as an innocent victim of St. Andrew's schemes- of that I have no doubt. The woman is manipulative and serves her own ends, and, honestly, I'm absolutely certain that's why she ended up where she was when we found her chained up in the middle of St. Andrew's ritual chamber.

[He speaks with his arms folded behind his back- falling unmistakably into the clear, confident monologue customary of a debrief.] I know this, because I had a gut feeling that any persons associated with St. Andrew who were... shall I say, possessed of a sound mind- unlike his cultists, for example- would end up being betrayed for the sake of his endgame. That was why I left him, in the first place. Mrs. Peterson was clearly not so intelligent.

I know not what she truly expected to gain from her alliance with St. Andrew- beyond discrediting her husband, which spectacularly backfired due to your involvement, but I do know this- the woman is clever and this situation has played out in her favor. She will claim manipulation tactics were used on her, and likely attempt to use her husband's love for her to sway you into seeing her falsified version of events.

And I admit that by attempting to put a bullet in her head on principle would have simply made me out to be the sort who wishes to bury any version of the truth that isn't my own, but of the two of us- myself and Mrs. Peterson- only one of us has not actively betrayed you. Now, granted, you only have my word on that, but she did say the one time I met with her that your Knights suspected her.

I may have been rash in my actions, but, really, I think you'll see in the coming months that killing her would have made this situation much less stressful for all involved.

[ sydney listens to all that with her lips pressed together, folding her arms near the end of it, and glancing between them. ] We're not executioners. If she's brought to trial and what you say is true, we'll just have to prove it.

I have little doubt that self preservation has been your greatest motivation in this entire ordeal. [ snap snap ] But I believe we would be foolish to dismiss your word, which is why I brought you on to consult on this case in the first place.

Audrey Petersen knows a great deal about our organization and the way we operate, due to her husband. She potentially had access to our archives, and I imagine that she's ideally placed to attempt to outmaneuver us.

If she is as guilty as you profess, and she's released by a jury, she may make us targets. I will not allow that to happen.

[he ain't bothered. if you don't figure out sark's primary motivation is self-preservation early on, you deserve everything he's going to do to you.

also he's taking that to mean that he totally should have shot her. SO MANY FEWER HEADACHES. Unless it became Grant's supervillain origin story. That would suck.]

I know there were knights she claimed may have made her during the... hostage situation involving the Petersons.

There were, but I have a feeling that she might take a broader view of undermining us. Either way, if she's truly a danger, we need to make certain she winds up on the right side of her sentence.
