Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

The Knight's new section head, Wynn, and their mentor Knight wait up at the front of the room for their approach, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.

[ a grin spreads across her face, skye is second only to gar to know her mother's roman name. it's at the point where she just sticks with persephone for ease, but it's always a thrill when someone represents rome. ]

Yeah, she even admitted it once, no takesies backsies. Not many people know her Roman aspect, you know, that's impressive.

Greek and Roman stuff didn't always come up in school — when I went — but a lot of it gets used in CS terms and symbols. It's not hard to look that stuff up, if you're interested, and I was. [ shrug. ] I'm full of useless facts from the internet.

Really? I'm not super technologically inclined, sorry. Like, I can google, it's kind of pathetic.

Hey, don't worry about it. If every Knight was technologically inclined, they wouldn't have had an opening for me.

I'm just not real good with the reading, so like reading on a computer screen is just nah.

I get it. It's not for everybody. But you know, they've got accessibility stuff for that. Programs that read pages aloud, and stuff.

Yeah, I use that in the lab. [ she seems pretty unwilling to use any other features, but it also seems more like shame than a old lady's offense that the internet even exists. ]

[ she sense this shame. it's familiar shame. so skye decides to just ... dive in. ]

I dropped out of high school. I mean, it's not the same thing, but I get it. The book learning thing isn't all it's cracked up to be.

[ it's really sweet and actually does lessen some of vi's discomfort with her inability to read. ]

It's really not. And so much of stuff I want to know is in books, like what the fuck.

Like what? [ It sounds like she means something specific, so Skye's going to invite herself to prying. ]

Like gods and why my baby is orange, though I should really just ask Solace and Hasmed about that. I try to keep the randomness to once a month for Solace at least, he puts up with so much drivel coming out of my mouth, he deserves the break.

Right, he's your section head, huh? Is that scowl, like, a permanent fixture or has he ever made another facial expression?

I think I saw him smile a little when I delivered Hayley's baby, or with Shayla... you know, I think he might just like babies. Ilmater is a serious god, though, I'm not sure any of his clerics are going to be bubbly.

Ah, no kidding. I knew a couple people in New York while I was living in New York who worshipped him. Definitely not as uptight as Solace, though.

He's got a lot on his plate, so I usually chalk it up to that. There's not a lot of clerics in the castle, surprisingly, so sending us out has to be a paperwork nightmare.

I never thought about section heads doing paperwork. I mean, it's not like the Knights are accountable to anyone but Wynn.

Might be proverbial paperwork, but Hasmed's desk was definitely covered in stuff when I went to his office.

No, it makes total sense. Records of the missions, reports, evaluations. I wonder where they keep it all.

Room of Requirement for filing cabinets. [ she nods, impressed with her own idea. heck yeah. ]

I wonder who curates something like that. It's totally gotta be Lis'sa, right? That sounds like a nerd's wet dream.

I doubt she'd do it for the other sects though.

So maybe each section head's got it under control. Sucks for the sect with the least organized leadership, I guess.

That'd be the Freelancers, I guess, no offense. I wonder if Wynn does his own paperwork. Oh! Maybe that's why Christos is always so... grumpy, he pulled the short stick.

That's ... Damn, probably true. Does this mean we should be doing our own paperwork? [ asks the girl who's never been on a mission. ]

[ she shrugs in a don't ask me way. ] I pass all my shit off on Solace, yo. Knighting Groot right after the attack so I didn't even have to do any work there either. I don't know why they give me squires, I'm trash at it.
