The morning after, the Knights board a plane at their private airfield, and begin the couple hour flight to the country of Slovechnia. Wynn has laid out a plan for them as such, leaving Sir Gar in charge of seeing it executed: they are to send in a few Knights to infiltrate the wedding, while others steal an ambulance from a local hospital. Using magic to make Sarandis think he's having a heart attack during the ceremony, they will intercept the outgoing call to the paramedics, and pose as them to take him out of there and straight to a private airfield to meet with Wynn. They're all aware, however, of just how smoothly their plans tend to go where these villains are involved - especially if the Mind Master shows up.

Either way, it promises to be an interesting day...

[ dimitris lowers his head with a sigh, pinching his eyes closed as they head toward the doors. dumage is left there arguing with her parents... ]

Take all the time you need. You know where we'll be.

[ Steve falls into step with Astrid and Felicity and discretely gestures that they hurry it up. He doesn't want Madame Scary Eyes to follow too closely.

He hasn't had much time to really pay attention to the comms. But they're moving. He takes it upon himself to move ahead once they're outside to open the back ambulance doors. ]

[And with that the three of them will load Sarandis into the ambulance, and Felicity will make her way up to the front and slide into the shotgun seat as they need Astrid to doctor and Steve to punch if necessary. She'll continue to play the part until Sarandis is out cold, talking to Gar as though she were the actual ambulance driver.]

Potential heart attack. We need to get him to the hospital ASAP.

[also to gar, continuing her doctoring:] Make sure the primary angioplasty coordinator knows we're coming. [and then, to sarandis:] The aspirin?

[ kitty stands outside behind the ambulance as they load, consulting with the doc on the phone, and puts a hand over the speaker to say to astrid: ] Physician says belay that. He'll meet you at the hospital. [ she digs in her purse to find her own keys-- ]

[ gar, from the front seat, stares out the window in horror, as a massive number of police cars begin approaching from every direction, sirens blaring. ] We have to go now! The doors!

[ dimitris tries to sit up as much as he can at that strange pronouncement. ] What the devil is going o-- [ and notices gar in the rearview mirror, recognition lighting up his features ] You!

[ He doesn't need to be told twice. He's already getting up into the back of the ambulance and turning to pull the doors shut. ] Go!

[astrid decides that ... it's time for dimitris to go to sleep lmfao. so she grabs an anesthetic injection to inject into his arm and does it like a real medical doctor. (atk nat 20, 26 total)] Good night!

[ welp. dimitris was not expecting that shit, and while his eyes get wide when the needle jabs into his skin, he quickly goes cross-eyed, and then his body slumps before he can even protest.

a bunch of officers get out of their cars, their doors opening one after another as they move to take cover behind their vehicles, and then there's the sound of a ton of guns being aimed over the hoods. officer G begins yelling something vehemently... in Slovechnian.

kitty is left gawking outside the ambulance for the moment, her eyes moving between the closed doors and the suddenly TONS OF POLICE POINTING GUNS THIS WAY ]

[Shiiiiiiiiiiit cops. Felicity lets her eyes scan the area in front of them, using her sweep talent to try and suss out a way out of this that doesn't involve mowing down innocent policemen who are just trying to do their job (spot 26).]

Do you think if we back towards the parking lot and book it the ambulance will be able to handle going briefly off road?

[Mostly talking to Gar because they need to drive and they need to drive now, and the cops have conveniently blocked themselves in that way.]

[ the bad news is that to the east beyond the parking lot are more buildings, meaning that the best they can hope for is a tight squeeze behind K's police car, and there are definitely lots of cars parked in that lot as well that they would have to squeeze through to do so. they could off road to the west and do the same behind A's car, instead.

but for all that, it's... probably their best bet to do one or the other, yes. gar glances backwards long enough to see dimitris pass out, and then back out the window to survey the officers, looking like this is the worst day ever. over the comm, she says: ] We need back-up, out front! [ she grips the wheel with both hands, and then ... slams it into reverse. this is unfortunate for kitty, who was... right behind the ambulance, and failed her reflex save. guess this explains her crit fail. gar was not expecting that sudden BUMP and slams on the brakes, eyes widening in concern as she looks in the mirror to her left. ] Oh goodness! Who was that?

[ Steve's closest to the door and it only takes him a moment to lean over to peer out the small backdoor windows. He winces and turns to face the front. ] You hit that scary intense lady. We should go. She might be mad.

[astrid grabs a bonesaw out of the equipment in case ... dimitris wakes up or kitty lunges for the doors or something??? she just wants to be prepared, okay.] I think everybody's already pretty mad at us. [the police???]

[ kat rounds the corner and jerks to a stop in the driveway, surveying the situation like ??? ???? how did this happen to meeeeeee ] Oh, for fuck's sake.

[ but quickly decides to do something about this... cops situation to distract them from the ambulance, bless her heart. she raises her hand and shouts out some latin... and then giant hailstones start raining down on police officers E, F, and G, bouncing off their cars and dealing 11 bludgeoning dmg and 7 cold dmg to them and their vehicles. ]

[ the police are not happy about this and E backs away out of the hailstorm, as F and G throw their doors open and get back in their vehicles to get out of the way of the giant chunks of ice raining down on them. H and I start firing on Kat with a -8 penalty for the distance (atks 7/16/6/18) - the last shot actually hitting kat, but bouncing off the invisible shield of her mage armor which shimmers around her. A and B take aim at the ambulance tires (atk 16/19/17/17), popping both of them on the driver's side. the ambulance lurches a bit. C backs up the car and starts driving it across the lawn to avoid the hailstorm. J moves up beside H and I, talking into his walkie-talkie.

kitty groans and gets to her feet, backing away from the ambulance towards the steps. ]

[The ambulance lurches to one side and Felicity groans. They're not going to get far with half their tires gone, but they still gotta get moving somehow. Felicity reaches forward into the glove compartment to grab where she stashed her Excalibur.

She doesn't want to shoot anybody, but she will if she has to. She's also careful to keep the gun out of sight so she doesn't give cops a reason to shoot out the windshield.]

We should still try and get as far as we can, but I don't know how far that's going to be with tires gone.

We... we have to try. [ with that, gar cranks the wheel and decides to break to the right through the parking lot (drive check 20 - 8 from blown tires = 12...) which means that she sideswipes a car in the parking lot with the ambulance, which unleashes a horrible screeching sound as they press past it ]

Bloody hell! [This is fun for someone with vampire hearing. But it mostly just makes him madder as he growls and hurls himself the rest of the distance towards Kitty, finishing up with a kick to her knee (atk 36, dmg 26 with penetration).]

[ He doesn't feel a hundred percent happy to be stuck inside the ambulance during all of this. He's never been the type to sit on his hands and just run from the trouble. Steve's always been the one to run towards it to protect people. Which is exactly why he reaches for the compartment he stashed his shield and grabs it. He glances at the group. ] I'm gonna try to keep them from following. Don't stop. [ Then he turns to throw himself at the doors. He jumps (nat 20 with 36 total) from the moving ambulance and lands on his shield to skid across the pavement. ]

Steve!! [hoooly shit. well she is going to close the doors behind him. good luck son.]

[ realizing that C's car is going to attempt to follow the ambulance, kat sprints forward and then waves a hand at it... and abruptly the siren of the vehicle dies, and the car slows to a halt as she uses shutdown on it. officer C visibly reacts with confusion, before looking up and noticing kat, shouting something at his partner. D leans out his window, shooting at the mage (atk 14) and then landing a critical hit in her stomach (nat 20, dmg 14) causing her to let out a loud: ] FUCK!

[ F and G both drive their vehicles forward, trying to surround steve. H, I, and J take advantage of the new cover to move up behind G's vehicle. K backs up to block the only viable exit out of the parking lot into the street. A, B, and E all keep their guns trained on Steve, readying an action to fire if he makes a move. ]

[ meanwhile, spike lands a vicious kick on kitty, who grunts but keeps her balance, and backs away, calling to the guards on the steps to: ] STOP HIM! [ before doing a full retreat across the lawn in the directions of the cops, raising both hands as she moves towards the cops, looking very convincingly the victim here (bluff 41). the two guards make their way down to flank spike, both trying to grab him by the arm. he gets one attack of opportunity against gray (atk 29, dmg 12), preventing him from getting that close, but orange grabs him (melee touch atk 29: opposed grapple 30 vs. 41) and spike shakes him off violently. ]

[Since Felicity is not Steve "I just like to throw myself out of moving vehicles" Rogers she is not going to jump out of the car to help with the fight, but she will get ready to do some fighting if K follows through with blocking their way out. She shifts to go roll down the passenger side window and prepares to shoot K winds up blocking their way.]

[ gar's panic increases as she notices the police car cutting off her intended route, looking back to see what astrid is shouting about. her mouth drops open as she realizes that steve is now back on the ground, being surrounded by police, and she says over the comm in a harried tone: ] Please try to keep the murder of police officers to a minimum and get out of there. [ as for their prospects of getting out past that police car - fuck it. off roading it is, and she turns the ambulance to the right, heading for the side of the chapel (drive 12) and... scraping a ton more cars in the process which slows their progress and beats up their ride a little more. at least the vehicles in the lot keep the exposed good tires from being in the sight lines of the cops... ]
