The morning after, the Knights board a plane at their private airfield, and begin the couple hour flight to the country of Slovechnia.  Wynn has laid out a plan for them as such, leaving Sir Gar in charge of seeing it executed:  they are to send in a few Knights to infiltrate the wedding, while others steal an ambulance from a local hospital.  Using magic to make Sarandis think he's having a heart attack during the ceremony, they will intercept the outgoing call to the paramedics, and pose as them to take him out of there and straight to a private airfield to meet with Wynn.  They're all aware, however, of just how smoothly their plans tend to go where these villains are involved - especially if the Mind Master shows up.  

Either way, it promises to be an interesting day...

[ He takes that as a good enough reason to sit opposite them. He clears his throat and looks at Gar. ] Ya know--I've seen a lot of commanders during the war. About half of them didn't know what they were doing. The other half--well, they amazed me. [ He smiles softly. ] And you definitely fall in with them. I'd go to bat with you in charge any day.

[rationalizes]

[ she looks touched by the compliment, if not a little doubtful, and looks down at jack casts steve an approving glance ] That's... very kind of you to say. But I don't know that that was an example of my finest hour.

[recruited]

Gotta learn to forgive yourself. In war things don't ever go as planned. You can go down to the last detail and sometimes it can just be derailed with the slightest bump. You rallied and you kept us on task. That's what being a good leader is. Not cracking under pressure. We did what we came here to do.

[ Gar, he's gonna be proud no matter what you say. ]

[rationalizes]

We did, at that. I only hope it didn't come at the cost of Slovechnia's already... tenuous tolerance toward Shadowkind.

[recruited]

We'll find a way to right the wrongs that happened to their police force. We'll figure something out. [ Steve believes in fixing everything okay? He's very positive. A beat and then he looks at Jack. ] I'm a little offended you never told me you were engaged.

[dragonsclaw]

It was... a bit of a troublesome subject, for a time. [ but his smile, and the look he casts gar now seem to indicate it's not anymore ] Not on account of Jeanne, of course.

But that's all behind us.

[recruited]

If you can find it. Hold onto it I say.

[ Unfortunately Steve doesn't ever remember feeling like that about a woman in the past. What he feels for Cordelia right now is new to him. All new. ]

I'm happy for you. You deserve it. [ He pauses. ] Both of you.

[chessing]

That's very kind of you. I think it's something we can both find strength in. [ but he's very british and private and that's probably as publicly mushy as he's going to get about it rn ] I'm glad you made it out alright.

[recruited]

One day I'll stop being surprised I come out alive.

[ Steve's pretty much adopted the philosophy that with work like this you can't expect to walk away sometimes. He usually doesn't verbalize that though. ]

I hear I have you to thank for recommending me for this mission. Thank you.

[dragonsclaw]

I thought it was important for someone to be on the mission who might bring a balanced outer perspective. Jeanne agreed.

[recruited]

I'll admit I was a little worried about going after him. [ He shared that with Jack and Wynn both. Not wanting to just sit on his reservations. ] I'm glad it went the way it did.

[rationalizes]

I'm just glad we didn't see any signs of the Mind Master.

[recruited]

What's her deal? I only know what I hear around the castle. As far as bad guys names--it's interesting. Then again when they put the word Master in their title it's kind of telling of their personality.

[rationalizes]

She's an exceptionally powerful psion. Perhaps the most powerful the Knights have ever seen. She works for Draken Crombe, but she has some ties to a yuan-ti cult as well. Snakebloods.

[recruited]

She sounds--like a complicated woman.

[ He's not sure what to say because that's a lot of information to absorb. He recalls who Draken Crombe is from the conversation before. ]

I was just thinking the other day--man this world doesn't have enough ultimately powerful bad people in it. [ He scratches the back of his head. ] I heard she showed up during the castle attack. [ He was busy outside so he didn't see her. ]

[rationalizes]

She did. I was there.

I've never seen anyone come across so... unstoppable.

[recruited]

Everyone has a weakness. Even the biggest and the baddest. They come down harder, but happens.

[ If he can take Ultron then he's pretty sure they can take her down. Loki was basically a God and they stopped him and an alien army. The impossible situations always look darkest before the dawn. ]

Don't get discouraged.

[rationalizes]

I'm endeavoring to keep my chin up. It's nice to at least have a success under our belts now.

[recruited]

[ He leans forward just a bit to point to Gar. ]

And you made that success happen. By keeping us on track.

[chessing]

She doesn't give herself nearly enough credit, really. There's a reason Wynn has kept her on as mission lead all these years.

[recruited]

I can see it. Maybe it's for the best that she doesn't realize how good she is at this. Wouldn't want her to get a big head.

[rationalizes]

You're far too kind, the both of you. [ just gonna blushu like crazy over here ]

[recruited]

Credit's given where credit's due. [ He smiles. ] The only thing I'd ask to redo is maybe have the girls grab a bigger EMT shirt.

[dragonsclaw]

If you need an extra, there might be some on the plane.

[recruited]

Oh no. That thing's shredded somewhere in the back. [ He looks down at the t-shirt he managed to snag. Not a perfect fit, but it wasn't threatening to bust open anytime soon. ] It tore open while I was reaching for someone in the middle of everything. Very embarrassing. I looked like the least professional EMT worker.
