Cordelia and Steve have gotten together to plan a rather fun party to celebrate Sarandis being taken down. Abbie even managed to grab them a rather awesome band to entertain the guests and everything else was hand picked and decided on by Cordy and Steve. It's not as fancy as a squiring after party, but it's just as fun. The ballroom has been "dressed down" a little to match the relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy yourselves!

[ He stares at Buffy like maybe he entered World War three when he wasn't looking. Because this all seems really weird. ]

I think she's just trying to be protective. Back home my mortality kind of is a non-issue. I got shot on the mission and I think it maybe just freaked her out? [ He is assuming that she was talking to Buffy about him being hurt and not the Archer situation. ] I didn't come to talk about her though.

[slay]

[ She opens her mouth like she's ready to retaliate — I mean, correct him — but she stops when he course-corrects. Buffy tilts her head. ]

Then what did you come to talk about?

[recruited]

To apologize.

[ He says quickly. Wanting to avert any other issues that may crop up. He doesn't want confusion to consume their whole conversation. ]

For walking out on all of you. I've already apologized to Wynn, but I feel like I should apologize to all of you too.

[slay]

[ Buffy stares him in the face, letting it sink in, and taking a sufficient moment to silently accept his remorse. Then she shrugs. ]

You get stuck around the same people long enough, you get set in a certain way of doing things. Of ... accepting things that you shouldn't, cutting corners, making compromises. I think you acted like any person would when they were overwhelmed by what they felt was unreasonable. It's good that you were willing to stand up for that.

[ He doesn't want to run into the same hitch he hit with Felicity earlier. He considers touching more on the subject, but this party isn't the time or place. He promised Cordelia he'd have fun. ]

Thank you. You might be the only one that feels that way. I don't think I made many friends in that room.

[slay]

What clued you in, all the arguing? [ Sass aside, she smiles with warm but sad reassurance. ] Nah. That wasn't a you thing; sometimes, I get the feeling it's the only communication we can get. Surprisingly non-chatty bunch, when it counts.

Yeah. Lot of arguing. Reminded me of me and my team back home when we first started working together.

[ Granted they had some other underlying issues that played factors. None of them really trusted each other and for good reasons. They still argue. What happened with Ultron was proof. ]

Actually it reminded me of us a lot of times. [ He smiles weakly. ]

Bear in mind this is ... four years down the line.

[ Buffy's actually grimacing at the comparison to a newly formed team because she KNOWS THEIR DISSENT IS A LITTLE EMBARRASSING, but they do love each other. That's why they get away with being like this. ]

When you get close enough, and you've known each other long enough, you stop pulling punches.

That's part of being a team I think. You don't always agree. We've got strong personalities. Quiet ones. It all gets mixed up. I think the ones that butt heads the most are me and Tony. [ He pauses. ] Sometimes Thor and Tony. Natasha and Tony too. [ He frowns. ] On occasion Bruce and Tony. [ Are you seeing a pattern, Buffy? ]

[slay]

It's a wonder Tony's got any head left.

His personality is just--it's a little stronger than ours. He's an acquired taste. It took me a few years.

[ Considering they tried to kill each other at one point. ]

He's a squire I think so--try not to punch him in the face if you can help it. [ Because it's inevitable that Tony will piss someone off here. ]

[slay]

Don't worry. Learned that lesson. Since Arthur, I don't punch the good guys in the face unless they're very durable. Like a weeble-wobble.

What's a weeble-wobble?

[ So old. ]

[slay]

It's a ... type of punching toy. [ Buffy deflates, shaking her head. ] They, uh. They don't fall down. That's their thing.

I've never heard of them. I get it now. [ Sometimes Steve needs reference material. ] Who's Arthur?

[slay]

Um. King Arthur? Pendragon. He's a Knight.

[recruited]

[ This was not something that was discussed with Steve. ]

From the stories and legends?

[slay]

And real life history, as it turns out. I'd introduce you, but he works out of a different office.

[recruited]

Wow. I never would have thought we'd have King Arthur working with us.

[ Kinda blowing his mind. ]

What office?

[slay]

I'm not positive, actually. After he fought with us on Andres, we never got a chance to catch up again.

He's probably out doing something for the knights. Or maybe he just took some time off?

[slay]

Oh, probably the first. There are offices all over the world. I'm sure he's working out of one of them.

I mean. He's King Arthur. It's kind of weird to imagine him just taking a vacation right?

[slay]

Isn't that what he did with the whole once and future thing?

I'm pretty sure he didn't have cars, planes and cellphones though. That's kind of the strange part.
