Cordelia and Steve have gotten together to plan a rather fun party to celebrate Sarandis being taken down. Abbie even managed to grab them a rather awesome band to entertain the guests and everything else was hand picked and decided on by Cordy and Steve. It's not as fancy as a squiring after party, but it's just as fun. The ballroom has been "dressed down" a little to match the relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy yourselves!

Not ... exactly, but I've been poking through the people in the Hoard until I find the right fit. I've talked to a guy about working on my suit though.

[hacker]

Tell me it's not Tony.

[supertardiness]

[He perks up a bit because yep, it's totally Tony.]

Oh, you know him?

[hacker]

Not super well, but enough. He's probably thrilled to see your supersuit; he lost his, coming through the Veil.

[supertardiness]

[His eyebrows go up a little higher at that.]

Really? He didn't mention he had one. Well, he talked about working on tech, but I didn't get the impression he was a superhero too.

[hacker]

No kidding. He doesn't exactly radiate heroism.

[supertardiness]

I don't know, they can surprise you sometimes. He's definitely more verbose than some of the other heroes I've met.

[There's a beat.]

He kind of reminds me of a friend of mine, actually.

[hacker]

I wonder if that's what always happens after you come through the Veil. [ She purses her lips in thought, then explains. ] I had the same reaction to Topher. He reminds me of a friend I used to have.

[supertardiness]

Huh.

[He considers for a moment before shrugging.]

Maybe it's our brain looking for the familiar. A way to make us a little less homesick.

[hacker]

[ she nods her agreement. ]

Not replacing what we lost, exactly, but ... making the hole hurt a little less.

[supertardiness]

[He nods and makes a face because he still knows there are things missing. Moments where he's caught thinking about how Cisco would geek out over the lab or hearing Caitlin's voice in the back of his head, scolding him for overexerting himself, but at the end of the day they're not there.

And he tries to find the reprieve where he can.]

Yeah. Just enough familiar to get by. And it helps that I do have a couple friends here from home.

[hacker]

One way or another, most people seem to. I wonder if that's a trick of the Veil and some weird sense of fate, or if it's Wynn, finding people who know each other and recruiting them.

[supertardiness]

In my case, I think it's more a situation of Felicity knowing what to look for. I tend to be pretty obvious when I'm using my powers to help people.

[hacker]

If you want the boring and obvious solution, sure.

[supertardiness]

[He smirks.]

Destiny is a weird thing. And it can be a lot to live up to.

[hacker]

You don't think it's a little comforting? Something bigger than you already knows the path you're going to be on?

[supertardiness]

[He pauses for a moment, before shaking his head.]

I've been there. Not like ... destiny exactly, but I met a guy from my future once? And ... his entire vendetta against me was based on the person that I became in his future. I don't want to live up to the pressure of decisions I haven't even made yet. I'd rather things happen in their own time.

[hacker]

Whoa, future? Seriously?

[supertardiness]

[He nods slowly before shaking his head.]

This guy wanted to stop me from being a hero, so he figured that if he couldn't beat me after I became one, he could go back in time and wipe me out before I even get started. And when that plan didn't work, he manipulated me into being the Flash - basically engineering me to become what he wanted.

[He shakes his head.]

People shouldn't try to shoehorn you into something and call it destiny. Otherwise it basically leaves you questioning if it was really yours to begin with.

[hacker]

Sorry, I'm stuck back on the part where you just breezed right over the fact that time travel is real and it works and you've seen it.

[supertardiness]

[Barry just hesitates before raising one hand to rub at the back of his neck.]

Yeah, I've also kind of ... done it.

[Oops? Did he forget to mention that?]

[hacker]

Wh— How?!

[supertardiness]

I run really fast? Like mach two and higher fast. And apparently, if you go fast enough you can break into something called the speed force and it'll allow you to travel through time. First time I did it was an accident, the second time on purpose, but going back in time? It just ... screws everything up.

[At least in Barry's opinion.]

[hacker]

... Speed ... force. [ She slows her speech, both to confirm she heard him right and to emphasize how ridiculous it sounds. ] So can you do it again? Can you go into the past? What if you went further back in time here than in time you've been through the Veil?

[supertardiness]

[He shakes his head because no. Nope. Not doing that intentionally, but also at the same time ... ]

I can't run as fast as I used to. Coming through the Veil ... slowed me down some. Plus, I'm not really sure even how it works? A lot of it is emotional and getting into a place where I'm that scared or upset is ... a lot.
