[ It's been an eventful morning downtown.  After a troll hit up a bank and the customers within, he went on a violent rampage through police officers attempting to escape, that have ended with a standoff.  He is currently holding a busful of people hostage, surrounded by squad cars downtown, and the Knights have been charged with helping contain the situation without any civilian casualities... ]

[ bored, kali sidles over to edain. ] Sooooo have you ever disemboweled a troll before, because that looks like your kind of thing.

[When a orange cat comes flying at your face, you either duck and cover or deal with the consequences. Thankfully for Rory, his ability to duck and cover was heightened on the Roman battlefield and before he even really knows what's happening he's already ducking to cover the injured man in front of him (reflex save nat 20, 23 total).

He then tries to glance to see what got the cat so excited and spots the raccoon in a jumpsuit peering at them through the window (spot ... nat 20, 33 total), and jerks up to try and cover him, keeping his eyes on the troll to make sure he doesn't pick up on that as well, because that ... could just make things worse.

Where is wife to see him being fantastic? She's never around when he needs her.]

[Groot looks between the conversation happening near him and the bus before he moves over to Kali and Edain as well, head tilted in interest at the coming answer with a somewhat...disturbing half smile on his face.

He's so cute until you remember he's probably murdered a whole lot of people oops.]

[Accepting the megaphone from Jared, Gwen steps away from the group so that the Troll with have a clear line of sight from the bus to her, her voice booming, loud though tinny as she presses the button to speak.]

My name is Gwen Cooper and I'd like to speak with the individual who is in charge on the bus. First of all, I'm not with the police but I do have authority to negotiate with you. I see no need for things to escalate from here. If you'd be willing to communicate with me then I'm sure we'll be able to come to an understanding that we can all be happy with.

[Rocket would be sweating if he had sweat glands. BECAUSE FLERKEN IN HIS FACE. GIVING AWAY HIS COVER. he at least jumps down quickly once the commotion gets particularly fucked up, running back to the others.]

It ain't workin', but good news, he might eat the flerken, so... dunno how well that's gonna go for his digestion, but hey! Two birds, one stone, right?

[Rory shoots up when the troll starts coming for him, not because he particularly cares for the cat, but he's more concerned about the raccoon on the other side. He deftly tries to wave one hand so that the raccoon will escape the troll's notice (sleight of hand 17) just because he doesn't know the raccoon has bailed yet, as he tries to talk the troll down, and probably will fail (diplomacy 14):]

Why don't you talk to the nice woman outside the bus instead? Have you ever tried eating cat? I'm sure they're quite mangy.

Can't we just go to the door and offer him a whole pig from the butcher shop and then maybe when he isn't hungry enough to eat an alien tentacle cat he will talk to us or we can disable him. Or offer him a whole pig from the butcher shop and then punch him in the face? Or a trade, me for one of the wounded passengers. Me and a whole pig. Rocket is too bite size and I doubt Groot seems appetizing at all and I'm stronger than Edain and you're human. [ so therefore fragile sry2say. ] I only look small and breakable.

[Chewie yowls loudly as Rocket leaves because DAMMIT ROCKET YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO HELP HER. STOP IGNORING HER.]

[Groot punches one of his fists into an open palm.]

[Surely he's confident he can at least last while they evacuate the bus.

What he said. [ kali still has no idea what groot is saying, but she's choosing to believe that he's agreeing with her because he and rocket love her like drax's long lost daughter. ]

[Rocket looks up at Groot and shrugs.] I mean... he's real good at hittin' things. It's kinda why I keep him around.

[ in the meantime, the troll scowls at rory on the bus.

"Fine. No good mangy snack. Crush it!" that seems to be... an order. crush the cat, rory. it's fine. ]

I'd say we've got our distraction with that thing in there. Let's use it, one way or another.

Alright then. [Nodding.] We also need to secure this alien, the last thing we need is it escaping and laying eggs all over London. Groot, you focus on the troll. Everyone else, passengers, the Flurken and backing him (Groot) up.

[It takes him a second to realize that the troll is referring to him crushing the cat (wisdom ... 6), and it mostly happens a little like this:]

Crush ... crush the cat?

[a beat.]

Wait, you want me to do it? Is that really necessary? I mean, why don't we just let it off the bus? That makes sense, yeah?

[He's gonna try. He's gonna try so hard but the dice are determined to roll for shit today (diplomacy 14).]

[Chewie yowls at the window again, then turns towards Rory and the troll, hair on the back of her neck rising as she lets out a low growl like JUST TRY IT MOTHERFUCKER.]

[Rocket looks at Kali with pleading raccoon eyes.] Get the flerken.

As in murder? Okay. [ hopefully someone wants to correct her before she murders carol's pet and no one is the wiser because she's loping forward toward the bus like THAT MEANS LET'S GO, I GUESS! ]

[ the bus has a front door, emergency back door, and emergency side door halfway through on rory's side.

the troll leans over rory menacingly, gritting his teeth together (intimidate 16). "I SAID. CRUSH."

a couple seats over, a little girl starts crying. "Mommy, he's not gonna hurt the kitty is he?" ]

[What the troll doesn't seem to realize is that Rory's got a lot more steel to him than he looks. Despite the fact that the troll is very scary, he's faced down scarier aliens and won (will save 19).

(Or maybe it's just the fact that he doesn't want to upset the little girl. He's got a soft spot for little girls.)

His spine straightens as he looks the troll dead in the eye as he stares him down, trying to be just as scary, but there's the very real idea that the troll would likely crush him instead, but at least he's trying (intimidate 12).]

[ kali's just going to peer in through the back door, clocking how many passengers there are and which door would be best to herd them out? (spot 38, hide 37) ]

[Meanwhile, Groot is gonna go do the distraction thing and walk to the front of the bus and peer in the front window, waving at the troll to try and get his attention.]

[Rocket moves into position right behind Groot, prepared to provide back-up if his buddy needs it. he has both his excaliburs out and everything. aw yeah gunslinger raccoon.]

As in capture. [Though lbr. The flurken looks like a cat so.

And Gwen is going to position herself by the front door of the bus, trying to see how many many passengers she can herd out that way while Groot distracts the Troll. (Spot 22 / Hide 24.)]

[The flerken sure does look like a cat, and sure doesn't appear to have any tentacles and though she is yowling angrily, there aren't really any obvious signs to make it clear she's anything other than a normal cat. Rory doesn't seem like he's about to crush her, so she winds her way behind him, bumping her head against his back. Protect her, strange human who doesn't want to crush her.]
