With five dead members of a gang whose members are composed of entirely non-human Shadowkind, Belgium police are concerned that a gang war is about to break out, with accusations flying towards an anti-Shadow gang in the same inner-city neighborhood in Brussels.  The Knights are sent to get to the bottom of this, and to that end, they've arrived in the city and made their way towards the section of town where the deaths have been occurring...

[Tightening her grip on Baal's arm, Avaleen speaks in a low voice.] I think it best if we return to the others, don't you.

[his eyes were watching the group of three men and nodded]

Yes, I think it would be a good idea.

[ one of them shouts something out in the native language, which i...don't think any of them speak?? but it's clearly directed at them, and draws some derisive laughs from the others ]

[Unless they're speaking English or Groot (Treant) then nope. Avaleen will however, pointedly ignore their foreign jeers and not stop at the shop front itself but move to open the door so they can see how the rest of them are fairing.

I guess the rest of the group will hear the jungle jangle of a bell as the door opens. HAI GUYS! For those who look they would see that despite her silence, she looks a little stricken.]

[Bonnie sees them enter since she's already on her way out and blinks.]

Trouble?

[he tossed a look over his shoulder, keeping track of those three outside.]

Not yet, but we should probably move along to avoid it.

Not a bad idea. We have someone to look for now, at least.

Let us hope that trouble doesn't follow us then. [Ava casting a look back in the direction of the gang of men.]

It would delay us considerably. [Bonnie pulls her phone out and keys the cathedral on third into it (computer use 30).] Come on, it's this way.

[ it's easy enough to locate third street, and while those guys trail after them for a short, they turn back after they pass second. the cathedral looms over the other buildings here in what is not at all a good part of town - there's visible graffiti everywhere, trash in the streets, people passed under blankets against buildings. the church is the only landmark that actually draws the eye with its intricate architecture and the large statues that look down upon the city from its edges.

as they draw closer, anyone who makes a listen check of 15+ can hear audible yelling in Dutch and German coming from around the corner - it sounds like multiple people, in some kind of altercation. ]

He doesn't understand the languages that can be heard as they get closer, but he can hear the tone of the words - the anger and yelling - combined with the decline in the way that the streets look, that he is going to put up his hand before they get to the corner, his other going to hook his thumb on his pocket close to his gun. Just in case...]

There is trouble ahead.

[Bonnie's listen check of 8 means she doesn't hear anything, but she can understand German so once they get closer she'll be in good shape. She nods, frowning slightly.]

That's not surprising. Be on guard.

[And while Ava too hears what's going on (Lis 23) she has no idea what that language is so she's not much help there. Going on alert all the same as she looks to the argument and the Church beyond the men. (Spot 24).]

[ as they round the corner, they'd see two groups standing off, each composed of five or six people. one side is led by this dwarf, sans the grenades, and it looks like all his buddies are also shadowkind. he's getting all up in the face of a human with a blond spiked hair-do, who sports tattoos that ava sees as very similar to the ones on the men who'd been watching them. the dwarf rams a finger in the guy's chest, and the man proceeds to spit right on his face, drawing sneering laughter from his pals. ]

[Since Ava was lead on this mission, so Baal turned to her.] Do we interfere?

[monosaccharide]

Obviously. That's what we're here for. Hey! [Bonnie strides forward.] What seems to be the problem?

[silverguardian]

[ the dwarf turns his head to look at her as nyna takes a step after but stops herself from getting too close.

"Stay out of this if you know what's good for you." ]

[monosaccharide]

[Bonnie gives him an imperious look, drawing herself up in full royal fury. For a tiny pink woman, she can be pretty terrifying (activating frightful presence! all foes within 10 ft lower than level 9 must make a dc 17 save or be shaken for 5 rounds.)]

I am giving the orders here. Do not make me repeat the question.

[ everyone else looks pretty disturbed tbh but the dwarf just puffs his chest and turns to her ]

They're killing my people, that's what. I don't have to answer to you!

[monosaccharide]

Thank you. [She gives him a sunny smile and a nod, then turns towards the others.] Do you deny these charges?

[ "You're damn right we do. Always trying to fucking start trouble, these Shadow runts," the leader of the opposite gang grumbles. ]

[he made a hand to stop her, and then sighed. They were here to help. but not to interfere with every squabble on the street. He sighed, staying with the rest of the group though to let the Princess handle the situation she put herself into, his hand hovering near his gun just in case.]

[Considering they're talking about the murders, it seems to be a legitimate squabble to get involved in. She purses her lips and looks at both gangs.]

Obviously the only way to settle this is a thorough investigation. Fortunately for you, that's exactly what we're here to do. I assume you're all willing to cooperate thoroughly so that justice can be done?

[(Diplomacy 24) She looks around meaningfully at everyone. If people don't want to cooperate, they're probably hiding something.]

[ the dwarf looks grumpy about it, but he looks away, arms folded, and doesn't protest.

the human leader looks them all over more closely. ] You cops? You don't look like cops.

[More than happy for Bonnibel to handle take the role she is most comfortable with, Avaleen only chooses to interject under the scrutiny of the other leader.]
