[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from Dimitris' wedding.

I suppose I've been in this world long enough now to see all sorts of kinds...

The world is full of all sorts of colorful characters, isn't it. [What he's seen here hasn't been quite as literally colorful as the clientele he'd seen back in Angel's Los Angeles, but there's no denying that there's a hell of a lot of variety to be had.] I promise, cupcake, I'm the friendly sort of demon.

I can't confess to knowing much about... demons at all, honestly.

Hardly a personal failing, sweetheart. A lot of us do what we can to keep ourselves out of view from folks who might not know how to handle coming across someone horned and garden-hued-- that said, I don't even know how many people like me there are in this world.

[This world's Los Angeles had been so unlike his own, peppered with races he didn't quite recognize, though none of them reminded him of the veritable rainbow of demons and ghouls that would drop into Caritas on a nightly basis.]

Here, I might well be one-of-a-kind.

Hard to say. Variety is the spice of life and all, so if you meant other friendly demons, I wouldn't be opposed--

You'll be glad you spared yourself-- though if you're ever curious, I could probably tell you some, but you'd want a stiff drink with you.

[To be fair, Lorne always feels that everyone should have a stiff drink on them at all times.]

Pals it is. [ she smirks in response. ] Suppose that means I'll have to stop by on your karaoke nights.

[He places a hand over where a human's heart would be almost immediately at the prospect.]

Honey, I would be heartbroken if you didn't.

[It's probably not a good time to point out where his heart actually is. He's picked up on human colloquialisms well enough.]

I'll see you then. I would have to be the cause of a broken heart.

[ she's been the cause of many, but for entirely different reasons. but instead of dwell on it, she smirks and decides that now is a good time to see what else is out today. she'll be keeping an eye out for this guy from now on. she likes him. ]

That's about the size of it. Reading the future isn't an exact science, but I help set people on their paths, point them in the right direction. I might not see what the end result of a given situation is going to be-- but I can see exactly who a person needs to collaborate with to achieve success.

[Angel and Lindsey come to mind, and he almost immediately wishes they hadn't. His smile flickers, only for a moment, before his game face is on once more (Bluff 29).]

If the interest is there, you bet. Every week might be a bit much for some people, but combat-wise, there's not a lot I can do. I'd like to offer up the talents I do have.

Is that because, like all those trashy sci-fi movies tell us, the future is undetermined and always in flux? So there's really no way of predicting what's going to happen, just that something is and who it's going to happen with.

Gotta say, this place gets more and more interesting.

Something like that. The future itself can be effected by a thousand different things, some of them seemingly insignificant, making it impossible to predict-- but there are certainly possibilities to be seen, and sometimes it takes someone who can see past what you're willing to admit to yourself to help set you on the right path.

[It's like having a mystical therapist.]

It does, doesn't it? I think it's growing on me.

Insignificant, impossible variables frustrate me. I like to know what's going to happen.

Nobody can know that, not exactly. Even if someone can paint most of a picture of the future for you-- you always have the power to change it. That's the beauty of free will.

[Unpredictable, sure, but there are some things that are more important than having everything mapped out to the last detail.]

You really go in for that? Free will, no destiny, no grand plan?

Oh, I certainly believe in destiny-- but I also believe that nothing is an absolute. We have the power to influence our destinies, even if it's just a little bit.
