[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from rescuing Gar in New York City, but before the planned Keijen Blade concert at the beginning of 2017.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. [ at one point, jack emerges from his private conference with wynn, and approaches spike, extending his phone and nodding towards the back. ] Wynn wishes to have a word.

[bigbad]

[Spike doesn't voice his initial thought: Am I in trouble? Because... yeah. Wynn's kind of terrifying. Instead, he just nods and takes the phone, heading towards the back himself.]

Hey, Boss.

[wynn]

Sir Chessing has informed me what occurred on the meeting. Including what happened to Sir Moulet.

Considering you were the one present, however, I'd like to hear your version of those events.

[bigbad]

Right. [Spike grits his teeth slightly. This is important, which sucks because it hurts and he'd dearly love to do anything but talk about it. But it's his job. He can do this.]

Well, we opened the door and there were all these baddies standing there staring at us. Blade was all ah, Dumage, come with us, you don't have to pretend to be with the good guys anymore, come be with me and my magical god prick.

[This is exactly what happened.]

And she went with him. But you know. None of them killed me despite loads of posturing, so I suppose there's that.

[wynn]

And do you believe she went with them to keep them from killing you, or because she was simply waiting for the opportunity?

[bigbad]

[Spike doesn't answer for a moment. Not because he's not sure, but because he is sure, but knows what everyone else would say about his answer.]

I think she didn't want them to kill her. I think whoever's still standing at the end, she'll claim she was with them the whole time, really. I think she's too bloody good at her job and will play whatever cards it takes to keep herself on top.

[He sighs.]

And yeah, I think she didn't want them to kill me. Call me a bloody fool, but I don't know how else she could've played it that left us both breathing. [A beat.] Metaphorically, in my case.

[wynn]

Do you believe that if granted the opportunity, she would return to us willingly?

[bigbad]

[Spike tilts his head.] Hard to say. I think she would, but that opportunity would have to be bloody great. And fully safe.

[wynn]

I've something in mind. But I would need your help, if you feel she might trust you. At least more than any of the rest of us.

[bigbad]

Not bloody wrong. [Dumage definitely doesn't trust most of them, and he can't rightly blame her. These days, he's not sure who he should be trusting either, and at least everyone else seems to like him, more or less.

He's not sure if Dumage trusts him, but she sure trusts him more than she trusts the rest of them, however far that takes them.]

Well, I'm down to help. Certainly I'd rather she wasn't with those bastards. What's your plan?

[wynn]

One that would place you in no small amount of danger. But I give you my word that I will retrieve both of you from the situation, at any cost.

You need to get to her, and that involves going directly to them.

[bigbad]

Danger doesn't bother me. I'm bloody immortal. [He says right after almost dying. Whatever, he didn't.]

[wynn]

You will, in essence, offer yourself in exchange for her. They'll no doubt take you captive - and expect her to opt to remain. It will at least bring you close to her, and you can convince her to leave with you when granted the chance. It must all happen very quickly - they won't expect us to try anything again so soon.

And if you hear anything about Rafael while you are there, all the better.

[bigbad]

[Spike hesitates. He isn't scared for his life, of course. Immortal or not, he doesn't value it enough to be scared for it, no matter how much certain people yell at him for that. But his life isn't the only thing on the line. Not anymore.]

Are you sure that's wise?

[He trusts Wynn. But he also sure doesn't like the idea of putting his brain and everything it contains so close to the bad guys who like reading minds. They've already gotten into his head too many times.]

[wynn]

It's not at all.

That may, in fact, be the only reason that it may possibly succeed.

[bigbad]

[......well, Wynn's lost it. But wisdom's one of Spike's dump stats, so he's not about to argue.]

All right, I'm game. Plan So Bloody Stupid They Won't See It Coming it is.

[wynn]

Very well. I'll meet you at the airport. [ annnd click ]

[bigbad]

[Spike stares at the phone for another moment before he slowly walks back to his seat. He turns to Rose, expression almost bemused.]

I'm gonna do something stupid.

[littledhampir]

[You know what's not at all comforting? That face and those words, Rose's eyes narrowing as she sits up straight in her seat.]

Define stupid.

[bigbad]

I'm going back for Dumage.

[That is exactly the definition of stupid.]

Wynn thinks it might work.

[littledhampir]

[And Rose just. Stares.

And then.] No.

[See, this is fine, she's perfectly calm right now.

That might have been a Nat 20 Will Save, though.]

[bigbad]

[He shrugs his shoulders, looking away from her.]

Sorry, love. I already said I'd do it.

[littledhampir]

[More blinking, as Rose starts to shake her head.]

I don't care. Take it back.

[Because she still honestly believes at this point, she can alter reality, despite knowing full well, life never works that way.]

[bigbad]

Rose. [He turns towards her again, clasping her arm.] I have to do this.

[littledhampir]

[It starts to sink in now, that sickening realization that she could be talking to a brick wall for all it matters. He's not here, asking her permission or wanting her opinion. He's telling her.

But Rose has never been one to accept things the way they are.]

No, you don't. You don't have to do, anything! [Her voice going up a half octave as emotion starts to mingle through her words.]
