[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies. This takes place after the Knights have returned from rescuing Gar in New York City, but before the planned Keijen Blade concert at the beginning of 2017.

[ The unfortunate can stumble across the kitchen in the morning, where Rey is experimenting with food. For most people, that means stacking weird things on sandwiches, but for Rey, that means baking eggs in weird ways and mixing them with things that you simply wouldn't expect; everywhere from sardines to figs. She's pretty determined in her work, and at the very least, she's eating whatever horrible creations come out of this.

In fact, she seems to lack the discerning palate to really know what's terrible and what's not. ]

[dante was just gonna make some mac and cheese ... maybe a mac and cheese pizza, that's what he's into ... but then rey is here, working on her next culinary disaster. he's trying to to be judgy, maybe it's a shadowkind thing!! like ... maybe. he'll try to be polite.]

What'cha making?

I haven't figured that out yet.

[ But she did figure out that the fresh stuff tastes better than the pre-packaged, all sorted and pre-made to go together food. So she just needs to ... learn how to actually pair food herself. Right now, she has slabs of sandwich meat rolled inside a tortilla stuffed with garbanzo beans and soy sauce. ]

[he tilts his head while looking at her masterpiece, like someone examining abstract art.]

Is it ... it looks kind of like a burrito? That's usually ground meat, though. I could show you how to make one if you want.

[he's not gordon ramsay but he can make a few things okay. burritos take like barely any skill points.]

[ she looks at him like ??? ]

I know how to make ground meat.

[he looks at her like ??? back!!]

What? No, I was gonna make a burrito for you. Like, the whole thing.

[ that makes no sense in the context of what he just defined a burrito as, but she begins to realize that maybe he ... was only specifying part of it. yes that makes the most sense. ]

What else is in it?

Usually ... meat, rice, beans, salsa, guacamole, any vegetables you want like lettuce or tomato or whatever ... but you can have one with less or more stuff. Whatever you want.

That's so much food!

[ her eyes get wide as plates just imagining it. she's not imagining a burrito, for the record. more like a taco bowl. ]

It's just a little bit of each thing! [he'll start rummaging through the kitchen for those ingredients instead of standing around talking about them now. hopefully there are taco tuesday observers in the castle and he'll find some. it'll be fine.] You put a little of each thing on there and it makes a big delicious whole.

I don't know. Are you sure all of it goes together?

Absolutely. If you don't like it, I'll eat it instead and you can go back to ... your creative tortilla.

[ well that's fair. she nods. ]

[he gets to work on making her an awesome burrito. i rolled a 14 for craft: cooking so, y'know. it's like ... chipotle quality or something. it's lookin' pretty good. which is why he presents it to her looking all pleased with himself.]

Annnnd I think that'll do it. Try it out.

[Oh ... oh God what is that smell and why is he going towards it? Probably because he's worried that the Doctor is trying to make some kind of alien delicacy without the proper ingredients.]

Doctor, I already told you, you can't make ...

[And there's a long pause as he gapes at the fact that that is not the Doctor. Unless (s)he regenerated and didn't tell anyone.]

... Sorry. Thought you were someone else.

The medical wing is that way.

[ she points, helpfully. he's looking for a doctor, right ? ]

[He blinks.]

Oh, no. Sorry. I was talking about a man called the Doctor, not an actual doctor. Long story.

[He eyes her curiously for a moment before taking a step forward, looking with a kind of curious dread to see what she was cooking.]

I'm Rory.

[ this world is confusing and none of it makes sense. rey pulls a face, stares at him a moment, then nods and just embraces it because why the fuck not. better get used to its oddities now. ]

Rey. [ she holds up a plate that looks like an attempt at enchiladas but using pita and marinara and jalapenos. ] Hungry?

[That ... actually doesn't look as terrible as it could have been. And once Rory is sure he can discern all the ingredients, he'll nod.]

Sure. What'd you make?

I don't know what it's called. I was trying to imitate something that I saw someone else make. I think the sauce is wrong.

[ psa marinara is not interchangeable with salsa and pita is not interchangeable with tortillas, but she tried. ]

[And trying is the important thing. He'll go for a fork, though, because he said he'd try and it, and it can't be any worse than some of the weird alien food he's eaten in the past.]

Yeah. Marinara like this is usually for pasta, not pitas.
