[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from rescuing Gar in New York City, but before the planned Keijen Blade concert at the beginning of 2017.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. [ annnnd up they go, belle drawing out a key as they approach the door. there's no pretense of knocking anymore, it seems, and she lets herself in with an ease that speaks of having been here plenty of times. ] Gaston? [ she calls out as they enter. if anything, the place seems to have become only more hyper-masculine in the last couple years. ] It's me. I've... I've brought Auric.

[ and in struts the man of the hour, his dark eyes as full of contempt as ever as he stalks across the floor, side-eying gold. ] Belle.

Bring him in. [ he turns away to go take a seat in his large leather chair, where he is seated directly below a large rifle mounted on the wall beneath some requisite antlers ] Our Belle is most... persuasive, I'll give her that, Dark One. But she seems thoroughly convinced that you're a different man than I took you for.

[Gold's 24 will save means that the lip curl of impending snarl is merely a clipped smile as he steps across the threshold, sweeping his eyes over the decor. No accounting for taste. If Belle's going to be caught between two men, she doesn't exactly have the best of prospects, now does she?]

You caught me by surprise, Gaston. My apologies. [and that's about as sincere an apology as he's liable to get.] Honestly, I should thank you. Had it not been for that... unpleasant first meeting, I might not be in the place I am now.

[ gaston raises his eyebrows skeptically at belle ] Ah yes. The "reformed man", is that it?

Nothing so dramatic as that. [he waves a hand dismissively.] I prefer to think of it as more of a renewed sense of clarity. Perhaps even a better understanding of the person I am, even without my memories.

[unengaged]

And just who is that person, Gold? [ the name comes out on half a sneer, as if he can't help himself. ]

Someone who isn't allowing a title that doesn't exist in this world to concern him. Whoever and whatever the Dark One is, there is no such thing in this world.

Evil doesn't always need a title. I imagine you agree with that, at least.

Indeed I do. But I believe one must actually do something diabolical to be considered evil... Assuming you aren't simply labeling me that way for convenience, Gaston.

One spell aside- one that clearly plagued me with enough guilt to flee from my home and Belle for a year- can't truly be counted, now can it?

Of course. I imagine fear of being killed for exposing his true nature had nothing to do with it.

[dryly:] It was a suggestion spell, not a murder attempt.

It was proof that you have no respect for a man's will. [ he glances back at belle, who is already looking uncomfortable like gdi this is not how i was hoping this would go ] Or a woman's, for that matter.

And you think this meeting was entirely because I put Belle up to it, do you?

I'm curious to hear what you hope to get out of this meeting.

A chance to clear the air. Perhaps clear up some lingering misconceptions.

Gaston, you told me you were willing to talk. [ her tone is chastising, as she takes a single step forward ] If you have concerns, now's your chance to ask.

I want proof of his good intentions.

[incredulous as fuq] Proof?

[ she steps forward again, this time slightly in between them ] That's not what we discussed.

[unengaged]

[ and now he's on his feet, stepping to close the space between the two of them ] It's exactly what we discussed. It's not my fault if you weren't listening, Belle.

[oh sugar you just gone and done the dumbest thing in your whole life.]

Perhaps it isn't me we should be concerned about where twisting Belle's desires are concerned.

Both of you - stop this! [ belle reaches up to grab gaston's arm, trying to gently exhort him backwards, and in doing so, her coat falls open slightly and something catches gaston's eye. her arm is occupied as he reaches deftly to pluck it from her belt. her cheeks go pale instantly as he draws the dagger forth ] Gaston, give that to me!

And what is this exactly? [ it's sure an easy game of keepaway about to happen here, and he turns his head to examine the blade as he holds it aloft ]

You can hear the beat drop from Awolnation's "Run" playing in the background rn. Still, Gold makes a phenomenal will save (28 to be precise) to not PANIC, and follows it up with a pretty good bluff (32)]

It's a dagger, Gaston- surely you know what one looks like- and it belongs to her. So why don't you act like the gentleman you claim you are, and return it to her.

[that bluff at least covers up the sheer amount of I WILL MAKE YOU PAY FOR IT he's thinking right now.]
