Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return.  With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane.  Their destination?  A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains.   This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia.  Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair.  It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.  

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

vi & charming ♃ closed

[ when the meeting seems to break up on the hunt for decent rooms, vi tells isabella she will catch up to her once she talks to charming. she trusts isabella to find the best room, tbh. collecting lucia and her staff, she moves back to charming with toddler in hand and nudges him toward the door. ]

Come on, gimme a tour. We have like... four years to catch up on. And you are overdue for a haircut.

[uncease]

[It's not until Vi walks back with her daughter that Charming even starts to realize just how much he's missed while he's been here. His eyes go wide, all sorts of silent questions hanging in the air.

But he needs to start with the most important thing first. He drops down to one knee to get closer to eye level with the little girl and gives her a smile.]

Hi there. I don't think we've been properly introduced. My name's David.

[ "My name is Lucia Reedhym," the little orange girl says with perfect diction like she's practiced. "Imma princess." ]

She's spent a lot of time on Andres Isle in the past couple of years? Lu, David is one of Momma's first friends here.

[ lucia ponders this. "No, that's Zia Felicity." ]

I said... okay, you're not wrong, but... [ she waves her hand dismissively. whatever, not an argument she needs to have with a toddler. auntie felicity can win this one. ]

[uncease]

[He lets out a soft chuckle.]

It's very nice to meet you, Lucia. This place can be kinda boring, but if your mommy is okay with it, I can take you to meet a friend of mine. A fluffy friend. He's a little shy. One might even say he's... sheepish.

[The friend is a sheep 8)

Look... Charming was sent into deep seclusion in the mountains of Russia and has spent all these years working hard on his dad joke humor. You're welcome.]

[ "Momma!!" ]

I am all for fluffy friends. Lead the way, fair prince. [ she gestures forward but who know what way they're even going! lucia hopes up and down cheerfully and abandons vi to take david's hand because she doesn't understand stranger danger like at all even a little bit.

her village is all she knows. ]

[uncease]

First, we need to get you both bundled up. [It's not too far, but far enough and he doesn't want either of them getting sick because of a little adventure.]

I've got an extra coat you can wear. [He says to Vi] But we might have to get creative to find something small enough for her.

[graveflowers]

She can share with me, I'll wear her like a backpack.

[ shove the collar back on the coat a little and lu's head and just poke out the back. vi's small enough that two people could fit inside a borrowed coat, one person and a toddler will be fine. ]

Maybe make a poncho out of a small blanket. We didn't actually get a packing list before we got here, but there's gotta be a shop in the village I can raid for parkas.

[uncease]

[He will defer to Vi's expertise on that matter of keeping her own child warm. He nods and pushes himself up to standing, keeping hold of Lucia's hand.]

We'll just stop by my room first and then head out to introduce you to some of my friends.

[And on the way...]

So it seems a lot has happened since I left.

Yeah. Just... a little. [ a little. ] Remember how I told you I was gonna marry that elf, Luthir, the one from my birthday party, the one who came to hang out with me in Chicago?

[ she shrugs, looking a little smug still because no matter what happened, no one can say vi didn't fight for what she wanted. ] I married him.

[uncease]

[His jaw drops a little and his eyes light up because- well, that sounds great!!! Such a happy thing that definitely didn't end in tragedy!!!]

That's amazing. Talk about a called shot. [He grins at her, but then it kind of hits him.] Wait- is he here with you guys?

[graveflowers]

No. [ her smile only slips a little because she feels bad about bursting his bubble. ] He died, the night after the wedding. Lu was our wedding night baby.

[uncease]

[Well, there's some emotional whiplash.]

I'm... God, I'm so sorry, Vi. What happened? [He stops and shakes his head.] Sorry- you don't have to answer that.

[graveflowers]

It's okay. The god that was stalking me, we fought him. Luthir died to protect me and Lucia. A unicorn told us I was pregnant, it was a whole thing.

[uncease]

[he just stares at her because... wat]

That's literally the least insane version of events, bud. You're gonna have to trust me on that.

[uncease]

[He raises both eyebrows and nods, still leading them to his room. Which isn't terribly far so surprise we're here. He opens the door and steps in, holding it open for the both of them. It's pretty bare. There's a bed, a sword, a couple changes of clothes, and a small crate that's got a few bundles of folded paper that are wrapped with twine.]

I think I've got something under... [He gets down on the floor and reaches under his bed for a spare blanket he used more in the early days before his body acclimated to the cold.] That and my extra coat should keep you warm enough. [He grabs that as well and holds both out to her.]

[graveflowers]

[ vi takes them but her eyes are drawn to the crate. ] Writing your memoirs? Pretty sure they kicked someone out of the Knights for that.

[ she gestures lu over and starts fussing with the blanket around her, trying to figure out the best way to keep her warm. ]

[uncease]

[He looks confused for a moment, then notices where she's looking.]

Oh. No, those are just... [He trails off and lets out a quiet laugh.] Letters. They're letters. [He glances down at Lucia. If anyone would understand, it would probably be Vi.] To my daughter. Emma. Did I tell you about her? God, it's been so long...

You told me you had a family, I didn't realize they were here.

[ if she did, vi would have sought his family out once david vanished. ]

I also didn't... realize she was old enough to be a knight. [ lmao or that emma is her age??? ]

[uncease]

It was... difficult for me to process back then. I don't remember anything from before the Veil. I still don't really understand it, but being here has given me time to realize that it doesn't matter if it doesn't make any sense.

[graveflowers]

[ vi's expression twists with sadness. all this time he could have had his family... ]

after charming talks to jack

[uncease]

[He should start packing, but before he gets started on that, there's something else that David needs to do. He heads for the room where Vi is staying. With a deep breath, he raises a hand and knocks.]

Vi? You busy?

[graveflowers]

Nope! Come on in.

[ she's inside, sitting on the floor of her and isabella's room while lucia snores on the bed. the walls are covered in ivy like it's the outside of a fancy brick home, but that seems to be keeping it a little warmer than say the hallway. insulation, what what!

she's felting dolls for shay and lu. if they look like failboat people that is just a coincidence. the gar doll manages to be Very British even without a face. ]

[uncease]

[He heads inside, leaving the door a little cracked out of habit. Look- outbursts can happen. Having a better exit strategy is always good.]

I, um... [He feels weird standing while she's on the floor so he just makes himself comfortable and sits on the floor across from her.] Jack was able to confirm that Amara's curse is broken. I can go back.

[ he just settles in next to her and a smile touches her expression automatically, glad that so much of their ease together had lasted the test of time. but then he is speaking and her mouth drops open in surprise.

he can go back, go home to his wife and daughter, to his family. she isn't able to hide the flicker of unhappiness, but then she reaches out to grab his hand, squeezing it hard. ]

Good. Oh, David, I'm so happy for you.
