Sidelined from the mission that has been many of their lives for years, the group who had once stood against Keijen Blade has made a dangerous gambit - they've decided to leave the Knighthood, knowing they may never be allowed to return.  With them, have gone Sam and Dean Winchester, and Faith Lehane.  Their destination?  A distant monastery overlooking the village of Krozna, in the Ural Mountains.   This hidden location was home to many Shadowkind who did not wish to deal with the prejudice that their appearance might force upon them out in the world, particularly in Russia.  Wynn had apparently established a location here for Knights that broke the rules of the Knighthood so extremely to reflect upon their crimes, or for those whose powers made it impossible for them to live out in civilized society.

This monastery of misfits is run by a man named Mikhail Kalachnik, a willing exile who volunteered for the position, a man vouched for as trustworthy by both Jack Chessing and Finnick Odair.  It is here that the former Knights will set up a base of operations from which they intend to rescue Rafael Giovanni, research a way to stop Keijen Blade, and take him down once and for all, along with the evil Mind Master.  

But first, they must get to know the exiled Knights with whom they will be sharing this hideout...

We needed a place to rest, to prepare. The castle was no longer safe for us.

[littlebeast]

What are you preparing for?

[witchwoman]

A battle with a dangerous enemy. [No use sugar coating it, even if she's not handing out specific details.] We hope to rid the world of a great evil.

[littlebeast]

Why here? We don't have much.

[witchwoman]

I believe it's less about what you have and more about where you are. No one would look for us here. [The smell of food and the sound of Myri's voice is basically the perfect combination to draw Amaranth's attention, so here comes a big ol cat with his wings visible but folded against his back.]

[littlebeast]

[ sveta doesn't start at the cat thing, which is probably the weirdest thing yet about her ] He is beautiful.

[witchwoman]

[Amaranth lifts his head up a bit, preening at the compliment.]

Careful- he won't leave you alone if you feed into his ego like that. [She smiles as she says it, though.] His name is Amaranth.

[littlebeast]

Is he friendly?

[witchwoman]

When he wants to be. [She coaxes Amaranth closer.] Amaranth and I have been together since I was very young. He's my best friend.

[littlebeast]

Can you speak to him?

[witchwoman]

[She nods]

He can understand us. And talk a little when he wants to. Not out loud, of course, but... [She taps her temple with a finger.]

[littlebeast]

To your mind. So you can speak to him.

[witchwoman]

[She smiles and nods] Most of the time, I don't even need to speak. We have a connection. I suppose it comes from being together for so many years.

[Or also from being twins, but she doesn't know that part whoops.]

Have you ever seen a flywacket before? That's what he is. [Amaranth will take that as his cue to show off a bit, extending his wings and leap/gliding up to the counter nearest Sveta.]

[littlebeast]

[ she tilts her head, examining him but not getting too close ] I haven't. Is he from the Shadow World?

[witchwoman]

In the sense that we were not born on this side of the Veil, yes. But I think we are the only ones from the place we were before. No one I've met knows of a land called Coronnan.

[littlebeast]

Then you are the ones who carry its memory. What was it like?

[witchwoman]

[Myri quiets for a moment.]

I may not be the person to ask. I wasn't-- People didn't understand my abilities. I never lived in any village for very long. But there was beauty in the countryside- a sort of quiet that I haven't found until we arrived here, actually.

[ she considers that for a moment, before saying quietly: ] You had to hide.

[witchwoman]

[Amaranth moves closer to Myri, shoving his head under her hand for forced petting- a comfort for the both of them.]

I did- for most of my life. They thought I was dangerous- a demon, a monster.

[littlebeast]

[ she finds the woman looking at her intently, before she asks very seriously: ] Were you?

[witchwoman]

[Myri has thought about this far more than she likes to admit.]

I don't think so. But they did. And their voices were the loudest, carried the farthest. They had grown up in their villages and I was a stranger.

[littlebeast]

Is that why you're here?

[witchwoman]

Not exactly, but... in a sense. Much like the villagers didn't understand my abilities or how I used them, some members of the Knighthood don't understand what happened on our mission and planned to keep us from completing it.

[She pauses for a moment before asking in a soft tone.]

Why are you here?

[littlebeast]

[ she steps away, fiddling with her fingers ] Because I was a monster.

[witchwoman]

[Myri doesn't step closer, but instead offers a gentle smile from their new distance. Amaranth is a bit bolder and purrs loudly as he approaches, hoping to rub his cheek against Sveta's leg.] People often think that when they see something they don't understand. You don't seem like a monster to me.
