open ♔ castle farewell socialization

WHO || The Knights [ota!]
WHAT || The Knights prepare to depart for America
WHERE || The castle, London
WHEN || Directly after this is announced, Fall 2017
HOW || Actionspam
The acting Heads of the Knighthood - Hasmed and Solace - have made a decision that is not easy for many. Given the terrible state of everything happening in America, they've decided to relocate operations entirely to the States, and have secured a facility near Las Vegas. It is certainly possible, with the grim missions that lie before them, that many, or all, of the Knights may never return. Reactions to the announcement are certain to be strong, but it's time to choose what they will bring with them to their new life - and for some, to decide if it's a journey they can bring themselves to take.
[ This is the social log for anything before the Knights relocate to Las Vegas ]

(skye & alex)
She's not made for a Knight's life. Not really. It's too ... removed.
It also means she can't really get back and figure out where Alex went, though. She knew he was gone, but she hadn't had the chance to ask around on her way out to see if anyone knew where he'd gone. He hadn't left a trace, either. Wherever he was, he wasn't using his real name.
So she grabs her laptop, the only possession that she's carried with her through all this, and she parks in a cafe until she finds him. It's not easy. By the look of it, Alex really didn't want to be found by anyone from the Knighthood. He's covered his tracks, and he's obviously got experience covering them too — no surprise, given his time with the mob. He's got good reason to hide.
But, well. Skye hacked into SHIELD from a van. She's got this.
Eventually she gets a receipt, though, from somewhere in downtown London where one of his cards was used. From there she can find the last place his cell phone pinged a GPS satellite, and ... There he is. She stuffs her laptop into her bag and heads down to the apartment of Epiphany Greaves. Whoever the hell that is.
Skye has changed her clothes, at least, since she'd seen Alex the previous day. It's taken her all day to find him, though, so it's close to dinner time before she's knocking on the apartment door. ]

piffy and he had worked out the fake identity details the night before, and he already had some fakes she'd given him before. he was like yep i got this nobody is ever gonna find me. at least, not for awhile. there'd be too much chaos around the castle to be doing an immediate full head count — that was what his logic brain decided, anyway.
his logic brain decided that, since that was probably true, nobody would notice if he used his card one last time to buy a fuckin bagel. HE WAS HUNGRY 😩
and that's how he gets busted. he almost doesn't get the door, seeing how he's not supposed to be here (hiding from piffy's dad is a whole separate misadventure), but piffy's not there to get it and his paranoia gets the best of him. he peaks through the peephole in the door.
the fuck??? ? ?
he opens the door by roughly one inch. ]
The fuck are you doing here?

[ This, Skye says to the tune of 'duh?' They had established that already, hadn't they? That when she was done, they'd talk. Well, here she is: ready to talk. For some reason, he appears intent on giving her the ice-out, treating her like she is a traitor knocking down his door.
At least she doesn't take it personally. Instead, she tucks her hands into her jacket pockets and shrugs. ]
You gonna let me in or are we doing this in the hall?
no subject
[that's what he says, but he opens the door. a fool. like when someone says they won't get you a soda as they get up to go to the fridge. ]
I waited for you. For like an hour. I didn't realize you meant "someday."
[ real talk: he's a petty salty biscuit. ]

[ Sam Winchester's dick came up, don't @ her. She glances around the hallway of the apartment building, then pushes her way in past him, taking a look around. This apartment definitely does not belong to Alex Karamazov. It's got that weird Instagram witch vibe to it. Skye's nose crinkles. Maybe the real witch vibe. ]
Are you ... staying with someone?
no subject
his instinct is to be cagey, but he's also like ... well skye is ~The Best Hacker I Know~ and could probably find all my secrets in 30 minutes or less anyway. secrecy is a fool's plan. ]
Yeah. I'm not going back to the castle. Not interested in the way they're cleaning house.
[ there's more to it, of course, but that's the cliff notes of the cliff notes. ]
no subject
[ She doesn't have to point out the reasons she agrees, even if she gets the sentiment. Hasmed and Solace are off their gourds, collectively. But Skye's still of the opinion that sticking with the ship is the best way to fight the big evil. That's the way of things. ]
Well, good news. The castle's not staying at the castle super long either.
no subject
... What's that mean?
no subject
[ As she sees it, SHIELD will be presumably taking the lead — after all, the Knighthood has no leadership. But she's sure that's a fight that's going to come down eventually. ]
We're moving out to a SHIELD base for future operations. Soon.
[ She looks just a little satisfied with herself. ]

[ plain. flat. as dry as the desert. he moves to take a seat on the couch, deciding this is going to end up being a whole Conversation. ]
no subject
Skye stays standing. ]
I never told anyone about SHIELD. I couldn't; I was on assignment. The Director wanted me to evaluate the methods and values of the Knighthood, feel them out as potential allies. This is a good thing, Alex. We can work together.
no subject
a whole ass mood. what a truly awful taste of one's own medicine. ]
So you were, what, a double agent? The whole time?
[ it's not the same vaguely annoyed tone he's been staying in the range of. the question is something more removed and analytical-sounding than that. there's risk assessment running in the background of his head. ]
no subject
[ 'You' doesn't really feel accurate -- no, he'd left the Knighthood. This isn't about loyalty to them. It's about Alex himself, and his friendship with Skye. That ... hurts. It's hard to confront. But it at least sobers her up considerably. She's not longer trying to justify with tactics. ]
It wasn't personal.
[ She hates to hear Ward's words out of her mouth, but she has perspective now. And SHIELD isn't a bunch of nazis. ]

He didn't have much choice as far as timing this better. Sorry, gurl.]

[Hopefully she recognizes his voice?]
Sorry, I woke you.

[ She bolts upright. It's been weeks without a word. Honestly, she'd started to fear the worst, but — ]
Don't apologize. [ She's breathless, relief apparent. ] I'm just glad you're alright.
no subject
[He feels bad for worrying her.]
How are things where you are?
[He's been worried too, okay.]
no subject
[ That's sort of sleepily said, but she's rubbing the dust from her eyes and getting on with it. ]
I came clean. To everyone, about everything. We're leaving the castle behind. [ Beat. ] So, hey, if you get homesick ... [ Bad joke? ]
no subject
When all of this is over, I'll have to figure out where home is again, I guess. But I'll be sure to look you up.
[He's clearly making light of the situation, too.]
no subject
[ But she's laughing as she says it. It's a sad laugh, though. Somewhat strained by distance, by the fact that it would actually be great for that conversation to be on the table, but ... it's not. Rapidly barreling towards death sort of negates the 'is this casual' conversation. There might not even be a 'this.' ]
This burner, does it receive texts? I can give you my number with SHIELD. Drakenet surveillance free. That way if you need anything ...
no subject
[It's not entirely a joke, but the likelihood of them both coming out the other side of this is...probably unlikely at best.
It makes it easier to see the other side though, however improbably.]
I can't guarantee I'll get any of them right away, but I will eventually when I'm somewhere with a signal. Drakenet surveillance free is perfect as long as it's safe from anyone who might come looking for us. [A beat.] Are you staying in London?
no subject
[ They don't have the manpower they used to, but she has a feeling they could pull something off if Sam needed it. ]
I'll just feel better if you know how to reach out without worrying about Hasmed or Solace sending the Dragon's Waste Management or whatever else they do to people they call traitors.
no subject
[He doesn't even mean it in a bad way anymore. It's just the way things are.]
I think they've got their hands full, but we're not taking any chances just in case. That said, we're cut off from basically everything most of the time, so I might need you to look up some stuff for me in the future if that's alright.
[There's no internet. It's a nightmare.]
