open ♔ castle farewell socialization

home - machine gun kelly, x ambassadors, bebe rexha
WHO || The Knights [ota!]
WHAT || The Knights prepare to depart for America
WHERE || The castle, London
WHEN || Directly after this is announced, Fall 2017
HOW || Actionspam

The acting Heads of the Knighthood - Hasmed and Solace - have made a decision that is not easy for many.  Given the terrible state of everything happening in America, they've decided to relocate operations entirely to the States, and have secured a facility near Las Vegas.  It is certainly possible, with the grim missions that lie before them, that many, or all, of the Knights may never return.  Reactions to the announcement are certain to be strong, but it's time to choose what they will bring with them to their new life - and for some, to decide if it's a journey they can bring themselves to take.

[ This is the social log for anything before the Knights relocate to Las Vegas ]

I- [he had opened his mouth to announce himself, but this man seemed to think they had met already. Rogers? His muddled mind tried to make the connection to that name, feeling like the gears were rusty from misuse.

Could it be another name that Rogerrik had taken for himself? It sounded close enough, and they looked enough alike that most people thought them twins before they knew the age difference. Had his brother been the one to pull him from the waters of death, and transported him here to this strange castle? Was he behind this, one of his twisted games he was so find of, toying with Torrigan for a few laughs before he murdered him as he had the rest of their family? Fear spiked along his spine, along with the first embers of anger, though he was quick to tamp both down deep. The man before him had seemed surprised by his presence here, which made Torrigan think it had been long enough since his brother had been here that he was probably safe, at least for a few days.

He gives a shake of his head and tries to force a normal smile, wondering how he was going to play this off. Acting the fool would do better to suit his needs now, and pretending he had amnesia of sorts may buy him time. (Bluff 21??)
]

I'm sorry, I don't know who that is. I've only just... [a pause as he tries to find a way to say this, coming up with nothing but the truth as the most believable thing to say] You see, I've only just woken in your woods past your lawn. [ he points vaguely towards the woods and the tiny cabin therein.] I was able to find clothes in a small cabin just there, and I will return them, but I was wondering if you could help me at all? Perhaps you would be so kind as to tell me where I am?

[how lucky you are, Val'drin]

[ wow val'drin is

not prepared for this shit wth ]

I'm sorry. How did you say you wound up in our woods, exactly?
torrigan: (0045)

[personal profile] torrigan 2019-03-19 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
[He scratches the back of his head, looking back to said woods like maybe they would be able to tell him, but no such luck. He shrugs after a moment with another shake of his head, mouth twisting a bit wryly as he tries to explain but... falls very short.]

I um... I don't really know? I just woke up from this really vivid dream about being in the River, and there was a girl there who saved me from this thing [he shudders, recalling the taste of burning copper in the back of his throat] and I have no idea what it was, but thankfully Faith was there. At least, she thought it was a dream. I believed that I was dead, or going to die, or... I don't really know. It must have been a dream, since I'm not dead.

All I remember is she disappeared, and she called out to someone, and then I woke up.

In the woods.

Alright, let's try an easier question. Where are you from?
torrigan: (0520)

[personal profile] torrigan 2019-03-20 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Ancelstierre? It's capital, Belisaire, to be specific. Are we close to the capital?
valdrin: (pic#2488520)

[personal profile] valdrin 2019-03-20 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Of England. Which I'm starting to suspect you've never heard of...?
torrigan: (0250)

[personal profile] torrigan 2019-03-20 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
[he shakes his head, a sinking feeling starting in his stomach.]

No, I'm afraid I haven't. Is it near to Ancelstierre? [Wisdom check ... 8... Sorry Val'drin, that you get to deal with this.]
cabot: (and you look so innocent)

[personal profile] cabot 2019-03-20 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh dear. [ yeahhh he's... catching on here. ] I think perhaps you should come inside for a moment.
torrigan: (0248)

[personal profile] torrigan 2019-03-20 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
[well that... doesn't sound good...]

Uh. [another look behind him at the woods, his hand coming up to rub the back of his neck.] Yes, perhaps that wouldn't be such a bad idea.

[he will follow Val'drin inside, looking around curiously at the gigantic structure and lavish architecture.]
cabot: (but it just don't feel the same)

[personal profile] cabot 2019-03-20 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
[ val'drin leads him into the lobby, and then towards a hallway. the large place has an empty feel to it, which is strange. ]

Do you remember any fog?
torrigan: (T188)

[personal profile] torrigan 2019-03-20 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[it is indeed strange that such a big place would feel so empty of people. Though his mother's castle was on a smaller scale than this one, it had always been full, Lord's and Ladies, and other nobles always bustling about within it's halls.

He follows Val'drin, so caught up in looking at the opulence surrounding him that it takes a moment for him to respond to the question.

Had there been fog? He thinks so, the River had that hazy quality that made everything at the edges look foggy.
]

Yes, I think I do. Why do you ask? [ had Rogerrik told this man about Death? Was this man a necromancer as well? He did have red eyes, and grey skin, but not the right kind of grey. This was a natural hue, not the pallor of death. It was still curious that he should mention fog though...]

Because your story is hardly a unique one. I believe it's likely you've been ripped out of whatever world you once called home, and brought to this one. Through what we call the Veil - usually signaled by a journey through mist.
torrigan: (0418)

[personal profile] torrigan 2019-03-23 01:18 am (UTC)(link)

[ what the fuck did he just say??]

Wait, what?

[that is... so obviously not what he was expecting to hear, he literally loses all train of thought beyond "whatever world you came from."]

I wish there were an easier way to say it, but I'm afraid that's the best I've come up with.

The whims of the gods, perhaps. Maybe something more sinister. Couldn't say myself, but the results are the same.
torrigan: (T189)

[personal profile] torrigan 2019-03-27 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Maybe something more sinister? That just screamed Rogerrik. Or should he say, Kerrigor as his brother had insisted on being called in those last moments before... before...

He shakes his head to clear that train of thought, focusing once more on the conversation.
]

So, wait, you've heard of this before?
valdrin: (pic#2488520)

[personal profile] valdrin 2019-03-27 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It happens literally all the time. To a great number of people who usually live here, actually.
torrigan: (0250)

[personal profile] torrigan 2019-03-27 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[He literally... doesn't even know what to say to that. It's just one of those things you don't expect to hear every day. Or ever.

He looks around a moment for a place to sit, finds nothing and finally rests his hands on his knees, breathing deeply in through his nose and out through his mouth. He is having a bit of a hard time not feeling like he is going to fly apart into a million confused, angry and scared pieces. With a really good for him will save of 18 he is finally able to pull himself together enough to ask the next logical question-
]

What do I do now?
cabot: (and you look so innocent)

[personal profile] cabot 2019-03-27 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ oh no this guy is having a meltdown, what do

val'drin ... awkwardly pats him from a distance for a second until he gets his shit together ]
Well. That depends on quite a few things. You might consider it... a clean slate, in certain ways. You get a chance to make a new life for yourself.
torrigan: (T45)

[personal profile] torrigan 2019-03-28 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
[How can he think of starting a new life when so much of his old one is calling for vengeance? How can he move on? Does he even have a choice in the matter? If this man was right, and this was a totally different world, then he had no chance of finding his brother, there was no possibility of avenging his family.

It doesn't sit right with him, it probably never would, but until he can come to terms with the fact that he may never make it back to his home, he needed to figure out his next steps. Finding a place to stay, finding work, getting as much information about this world as he could, those things needed to be his focus for now. Val'drin had said that many of the people who lived in the castle had had the same thing happen to them. Perhaps this was some kind of blessing that had been granted to him, to bring him to this specific place where this was apparently a more common happening.
]

You mentioned that others in this castle had been through the same thing, yes? Did that happen to you as well? Is it common for others like myself to... to end up here?
cabot: (everybody wants to be loved)

[personal profile] cabot 2019-03-28 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Well, given how little I know about you, "like myself" is difficult to say. But yes, and yes. It's hardly pleasant, but also hardly the end of the world, although I'm sure it feels that way to you now. There are people here to help with this sort of thing. We're one of them, actually.
torrigan: (0382)

[personal profile] torrigan 2019-03-29 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
[he makes a fair enough point at that.]

Who are you then?
valdrin: (pic#2488520)

[personal profile] valdrin 2019-03-29 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Val'drin Cabot, at your service. A Knight of the Silver Dragon. You've stumbled across our base of operations, as it were.
torrigan: (T179)

[personal profile] torrigan 2019-03-31 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, that was fortunate for him, at least.]

You're part of a Knighthood? [This was at least something he could perhaps be useful doing?] That's at least something I'm familiar with.
valdrin: (pic#6952656)

[personal profile] valdrin 2019-04-01 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Something of an unusual Knighthood, but the basic principles, I imagine, are somewhat familiar.
torrigan: (T177)

[personal profile] torrigan 2019-04-02 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
So, this Knighthood. What exactly do you do in order to help someone like me? Do you offer some kind of work that can be traded for food and shelter, perhaps? [He's a survivor, after all, and gathering the tools necessary to survive is essential. Maybe he could work here for a bit, learn something of this world and see just how much truth there was to Val'drin's words.]
