The acting Heads of the Knighthood - Hasmed and Solace - have made a decision that is not easy for many. Given the terrible state of everything happening in America, they've decided to relocate operations entirely to the States, and have secured a facility vaguely near Las Vegas: agreeing to work alongside the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization to find a way to take down Blade. It is certainly possible, with the grim missions that lie before them, that many, or all, of the Knights may never return. Reactions to the announcement are certain to be strong, but it's time to choose what they will bring with them to their new life - and for some, to decide if it's a journey they can bring themselves to take.

Most of the facility is underground, and the Knights are each granted badges that will act as keycards to get them into the barracks area that has been sequestered for them in its own building (called the Enclave), as well as to access the other rooms that are open to their use. It is more or less similar to this, but scaled up in size to account for the larger numbers of people housed on base. There are separate buildings on the base compound for the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (The Sanctuary) and for those members of Hellsing (The Bulwark) who have relocated as well. The entire compound itself is referred to collectively as "The Harbor". Peter Fargason will continue to run training drills daily, attempting to mold the Knights into a more efficient combat unit, and Hasmed, Solace, Koraith, Dovan, and Lis'sa will continue to assign missions to members of the Knighthood, ostensibly aimed towards slowing the tide of monsters and evil doers heading to Los Angeles and protecting Shadowkind in America from the "war on Shadowkind" being waged by the American government, as non-humans are being rounded up as potential threats to the country. Hasmed and Solace have assumed joint leadership of the Knighthood, and appointed no Dragon's Claw to replace either the deceased Sir Bancroft or the now gone rogue Sir Chessing.

Gone is the eclectic decor of the castle rooms, replaced by a much more uniform look to each assigned barracks, which, unfortunately, sleep two to a room because of restraints on space. Feel free to sign up for a roommate on the thread on this post. In fact, everything here is much more polished, state of the art, and modern, which is a jarring change from the castle. How well people adjust may depend on quite a few factors... but for now, they are free to attempt settling in.

[ as people begin to arrive, they will be greeted in clumps by director phil coulson, who will go over the protocols of security, etc. with them and field any questions. he is a particularly mild-mannered man on the surface, with an almost entirely unassuming air and a habit of keeping a slightly pleasant smile on the edges of his lips, that makes him actually rather hard to read. ]

... You'll find your access cards will grant you entrance into any of the facilities you may need to use for personal training and recreation within the confines of this building, which we call the Enclave. S.H.I.E.L.D. will provide the Knights with access to resources on a requisition basis, facilitated through Lis'sa Trinall.

We hope to make this transition as smooth as possible, and our operatives have been instructed not to make any waves by interfering in Knights' business. To that end, we expect, of course, a mutual understanding and respect for areas sanctioned as S.H.I.E.L.D only on the base.

You'll be allowed to exit the compound when necessary, but are asked to exercise caution about being followed to the area. We have satellites monitoring the region, and ask each exiting Knight to carry a unique transponder that will identify them for what they are upon return. Failure to return with your transponder in place could result in a rather unfortunate situation for all of us, so I would ask you to exercise extreme caution in doing so.

We're looking forward to seeing what this partnership can do for both of our organizations. You're welcome to bring any problems that might arise to me directly.

[ In their time settling into the SHIELD base, Skye is hustling to act as liaison even when she knows she won't be a particularly welcome face. By now it's gotten around to pretty much everyone that she's been a SHIELD mole the whole time, that the Guadalajara mission was a set-up, and that it was Skye's suggestion for SHIELD and the Knights of the Silver Dragon to collaborate.

It's most evident by the fact that she isn't staying in the Enclave, but in the SHIELD-only spaces.

A. She takes an effort to help with some tech support for the transponders when they don't want to work right to let newly assigned Knights to spaces in the Enclave they're allowed to go -- tech support, in other words. Or sometimes correcting some ex-Shadow Worlder's inability to use technology. Which, well, is still a kind of tech support.

B. She makes the same effort around the Bulwark for agents of Hellsing, but she notably does not attend training sessions run by Peter Fargason. Thank God, coming back to home base has presumably freed her from those. She doesn't really want to deal with it.

C. She tries to follow up on Keijen Blade and on other appearances of Shadowkind gods in this plane. Alex's concerns about what 'we gotta do something' is gonna look like hit her especially hard, so she uses all the technology and history and government documents at SHIELD's considerable disposal to try and look through records of anomalies going as far back as the early 20th century when SHIELD was still the Strategic Scientific Reserve (nat 20 on this research/computer use check; 34/47 respectively, depending on which it ought to be).

D. She tracks down the Knights and squires who had personally developed relationships with her while she was the mole. Not to apologize directly, in every case, but to track them down and make sure they clear the air and know where they stand. Some of them do deserve apologies. And some she just wants to let them get their feelings out so that they can move on from it. Anyone on the Guadalajara mission or anyone who had substantial CR with Skye already is due for a heart-to-heart.

Feel free to drop into any of the above general scenarios. ]

[ For Gwen, there was never much of a choice when it came between staying or coming here. Given the recent changes, she didn't exactly trust their self-appointed leaders to look out for the best interests of all their people, and more than that? Gwen had never been good at sitting on the sidelines.

All this weird, wonderful and maddening shit they dealt with on a daily basis? It got into your blood. It became so much a part of who you were, that the promise of danger became the fix you needed, even if you weren't willing to admit it. Perhaps if she'd never joined Torchwood, her life would have been very different, even after coming through the Veil but once you got that taste? Once your eyes were opened to the way the world really was, it was impossible to ever go back. ]

The Enclave

[ For at least the first week, Gwen's main concern is ensuring everyone is settling in alright. For her part, that means checking in on people to see if they have everything they need. she understands that others might not be comfortable with raising any concerns they have with those in charge, but Gwen doesn't have that problem. Despite her misgivings, she does want this to work, just not at the cost of their people. ]

Training

[ For whatever it's worth, SHIELD isn't the only group she has misgivings about, which is exactly why Gwen has taken to attending the training sessions run by Helsing. Sometimes as an active participant, but quite often - like today - purely in the capacity of an observer. She can't deny the benefit of the extra sessions given the current situation, she'd just feel better if they weren't being overseen by a group of outsiders with ideals that didn't quite marry with their own. ]

[ Mealtime, when she's on the gun range, in her room etc. Gwen will make a point of being very visible after they arrive at SHIELD, just in case anyone wants or needs her so come at her. ]

[ In fairness, anyone who had met Kenzi in the past would be understandably expecting that if anyone was going to bail on a trip to near certain death, it would be her. She doesn't exactly have a history of being the most capable Knight, more inclined to be found drinking than training and one of, if not the longest serving Squires in the Knights history. They were probably just as surprised as her arrival at SHIELD as they were by the fact that she'd been sent on the Intel gathering Mission to L.A. but a lot had changed for Kenzi over the last year or two.

Some may have noticed that she'd spent a lot more time in the training room or outside working with Katniss ~~before she ran away with Cristos and Francesca~~. That she now carried a weapon with her everywhere she went, not about to be caught without one like she had been the day of the attack. She still drank, but not as often or to the same excess that she used to, even getting up before lunch, a thing that had been unheard of before.

She's still Kenzi, however. Grossly inappropriate. Drinks more than she should and still partial to leather, black eyeliner, and terrible puns. ]

The Enclave

Anywhere you might conceivably look for her

[ At least some things remain the same and while she might not have Hawley's room to convert into a bar, she does have what remains of his stash, as well as some of her own. There's not enough to sustain every functional alcoholic in the Knights, but for those needing to source a drink in the wake of the big move? Kenzi has got you covered.

Either come hit her up for booze or join her in her room for a drink or six. I'm sure Natasha won't mind. (~~You should have expected this, Natasha, honestly.~~)

Training

With or Without Helsing

[ No, that's not your eyes playing tricks on you. That is in fact Kenzi putting in some extra training time. Even more surprising is that... she doesn't actually suck. Maybe you spy her doing some target practice with a crossbow (Atk 26, 23 & 27).

Or maybe you're the person who has attempted to secure her with a rope to see if she can get out of it... (Dex Check + 20.)]

[ It's Kenzi. She's not about to slink away to her room and she's not opposed to making nice with either SHIELD or Helsing. As long as they don't fuck with her, she won't make their lives hell... well... if Fitz were here she'd totally be driving him up the wall but that's just for fun. [ Most of you are probably wondering... who the hell is this chick and why is she coming with us to Las Vegas? In Darcy's defense... she doesn't care, she goes where Jane goes. ]

Bio Engineering & Research

[ As Darcy figures she and Jane are going to pick up where they left off here, one of the first thing she's going to do is check out the lab. While the Knight's set up was nothing to sneeze at, there's something about a military grade lab that screams 'our budget would make you cry'. ]

It's so shiny... Is this how real Scientists feel? [ No offense to Jane but her lab was held together with string and chewing gum compared to this place. ]

[ Darcy will happily make herself at home here, so expect to find her in the lab a fair amount, playing with their expensive toys. Girls gotta eat and relax in between, though so expect to find her in the dining, rec and common areas. Maybe you heard a rumor that she's had dealings with SHIELD before. She'll happily dish. ]

[ Ava is, blissfully, perhaps the least distraught about the move from London to Las Vegas. She is the person most likely to find the positive in everything and while she might be sad to say goodbye to their home, she sees it as only a temporary change.

That is until they arrive and realizes they will be living underground. For somebody who spent most of her time outside, the prospect of not even being able to open a window and breathe in fresh air is mildly distressing but in a way that's so very typical of Avaleen, she'll find a way to make the best of it. It might not be the home that she was so fond of, but it held the people that had made the Castle so, and for her, that was what mattered most. ]

It Takes a Village

[ For security reasons - as she highly doubted frequent movement above ground would be viewed favorably - Ava's trips outside of The Enclave had been limited, to say the least. When she did go, she made a point of not lingering too close, should anyone happen to come her way but she'd found the only other people around for miles, were the very Knights who felt exactly as she did.

It's after one of these trips that the blonde is seen covered in dirt and carrying what looks like a bundle of blankets. The usually open and friendly woman, appearing more than a little suspect, her eyes darting around as she rushes for her room. Any subsequent appearances over the next couple of days, wouldn't be any more reassuring. She can be seen hurrying to and from the kitchen, carrying an assortment of things back to her room and even makes a trip to the Lab, returning with several metal dishes and a syringe that's missing its needle.

If your curiosity isn't already piqued, perhaps the strange noises coming from the room she shares with Groot will be enough to get your attention. Muffled little cries and even soft howls and yips, quickly followed by gentle hushing and cooing, from a woman, whenever the sound of footsteps draw near. ]

[ Want to encounter her before sneaky business? Go for it. Girls gotta eat and she'll be trying to make herself useful wherever possible. She's also on hand for healing anyone who goes overboard during training or is generally just a walking disaster. Unfortunately, the tech of the base is far beyond her comprehension, so the struggle will be real for Ava. The only reason she can manage the key cards is that they had those back at the Castle. ]

[ Sawyer isn't entirely sure what she's doing coming to Vegas. She's not exactly a magical powerhouse and she's hardly a supporter of the Solace and Hasmed regime. The presence of Helsing unsettles her and she knows little to nothing about SHIELD, other than the fact that they saw fit to have a mole inside the Knights. There would have been two people she might have looked to for guidance on the current shift, but that was Sir Chessing, one of the few people she could say had earned her respect... and Alice, the Knight she had been squired to.

Jack had gone rogue along with a bunch of other Knights and as for Alice? Not everyone had returned from the Knights mission at the Keijen Blade concert. ]

The Enclave / Wildcard

[ Sawyer is likely to have a harder time than most, settling in but she's never been one to hide away. While she's not keen on training with the Helsing people, she does come out to spend time with the other Knights in the commons and also the dining area for meals.

Her own training is a little more of a solo act, Sawyer finding somewhere quiet to work on new spells but no matter where she goes, she's always in the company of a certain ferret, Oscar often curled around her shoulders and sleeping or scampering off to make mischief when she's too focused on something else. ]

[ Frankie has always been the kind of person who will go with the flow, and that wasn't any different when it came to matters of life or death. While she was sure her family would have liked nothing more than for her to head back to Australia instead? She just wasn't the kind of person who could walk away from a fight, especially with so much on the line.

She's one of the people who hasn't made a secret of how shady she thinks the latest leadership change has been, but it doesn't bother her enough to make a bigger deal out of it. She's happy to casually challenge when she thinks its appropriate, otherwise she'll keep her head down and get things done. ]

The Hangar

[ Of course the first thing she's going to do is go check out SHIELD's toys, Frankie heading there soon after she dumps her stuff in the room to get a look at what they've got. While the ex-boeing is nice, it's the Quinjets that get her attention. Don't worry she's adopting a strictly look but don't touch policy but just so you know? She really, really wants to touch. ]

We have got to get ourselves a couple of these...

Technology Room

[ Frankie's not entirely sure if the intention was for the Hoard to take over the technology room, but she has no problems in doing so once she discovers its existence. It's not their sector back in the Castle, but she could make this work and if you hapen to come this way, you'll likely find her cataloging the inventory here so she can see if there's anything else they might need. She may also be playing with the shiny things they don't have back at Knights HQ. ]

[ Without even asking if you want one, a beer appears in front of your face. The cap already removed from the glass bottle, as if to make it harder for you to refuse it. ]

[ Frankie is rather at ease here at SHIELD so she'll be out and about. If not at the aforementioned places, she'll play a game of pool or grab dinner with others. She's not overly keen on the training sessions but might show up from time to time, preferring to train away from Helsing than with them. She's more likely to put in her time at the Shooting Range. ]

[Malina isn't ... avoiding Skye, exactly. It's just that she's got a lot on her plate.

She's got a worried cat girl who's convinced this covert government agency is going to ship her back to her "owners" that Malina would very much like to electrocute, and is sleeping on her floor. She's got a best friend who's worried about his little sister and the things he did to save her. She herself, is not entirely comfortable in this covert government base in a country that she hasn't lived in for almost a decade and a half. Then there's all the knights she has to check in on, worrying if Hasmed and Solace are going to get them killed, there's really no room to parse her feelings about Skye.

(Beyond, well, turns out you can con a con, if you're a better con. Then again, Malina hasn't really been a con for that decade and a half now, has she?)

Still, she can't do that forever so when Malina steps outside to leave a message on her dad's machine ("Dad, I'm serious, just take what you got and get out of the states. Please. It's for the best. Don't say I didn't warn you."), she turns around and there's Skye. She jumps, one hand resting on her chest before she exhales slowly.]

Sorry, didn't see you there.
