[Jack can't help but find it terribly impolite to go knocking on Buffy's bedroom door, no matter what the hour, so instead she received a very brief text transmission on her phone that asked her to come drop by his office at some point during the afternoon, if it was convenient. It isn't as if he doesn't have enough paperwork to keep him in there awhile.

Of course, this all involves... finding his office.]

† If she goes searching on her own: Roll a d20. A roll of a 13 or above can locate the office. Particularly high rolls mean she finds it quickly and vice versa.

[ Oh sick burn. She can see the judginess in that incredulity and it makes Buffy's shoulders tense, at first with sheepishness, but then with indignation. ]

Yeah. I am. So, are you gonna help me find his place, or are you just gonna keep staring at me like I'm wearing last season's shoes?

[lissatrinall]

Mm. [It's not a yes or no, just a sort of thoughtful sound of assessment, as if the question tells her a lot about you, Buffy. She glances down at the pile of papers on her desk, which don't really seem to be separate from all the piles there. It's hard to know how she keeps track of anything. Finally, she pushes her chair back and stands.] I'll walk you there. I could use a break.

[ She lets out a heavy breath, obviously relieved, and lets the door swing open more. ]

I'm guessing you just got here. [The girl has a naturally soft-spoken voice, but the double 'ss' almost comes out like a quiet hiss, making it sound like she has the opposite of a lisp. She rounds the desk and moves out the door past Buffy, locking the office with an old looking key behind them.] I suppose it's a bit overwhelming at first... [She sounds doubtful, as if she either didn't have that problem, or is having difficulty remembering it.]

Jack didn't exactly give me directions. It was like "hey, show up." [ She's not trying to sound like she's making excuses but ... well, isn't it an excuse? It's not like she's overwhelmed. Well, okay, granted, very much so. But totally not the cause of getting turned around! That was beyond understandable. This girl was just ... rude. ]

Maybe he wanted to see how resourceful you were. [She sounds amused by the idea.] Jack doesn't really like to play games, but he might have looked at it more from a practical point of view.

... Do you think it counts as passing if I use you as a resource?

As long as I don't mention the part where you thought my office was his. [She gives the tiniest smile as if to make it a mystery of WHETHER SHE WILL OR NOT]

Oh. Right. [ There's a breathless pause, and then she looks up with concern again. All the questions. ALL OF THEM. ] You don't think this is really a test, do you? I mean, he totally didn't seem like the weird twelve labors of his squire kinda guy. Which, okay, granted, it might be hard to come off like that kind of guy at a party, but -- [ 8( Hrnngh. ]

I'm not sure. It's been a long time since he's had a squire. Dragon's Claws usually don't, since their whole deal is working alone. [She turns a curious gaze onto the other girl] You must be something special.

[ That curious gaze looks more like a creeper gaze currently from Buffy's end. So she's all leery and such. ]

That's what I keep hearing, but I'm really ... totally lacking of the specialness. Just plain old Buffy.

[Well. Yes. It does tend to come off that way. She can't halp it :( And now she's just going to casually discuss what Wynn said was probably best kept as downlow info.]

[ (UNSURE) BUT WYNN TOLD HER NOT TO TELL. She gulps a little, hesitating, then decides lying is her best option. For some reason. You can tell someone didn't pay attention in Knighthood oath class. ]

... What, me? No. Very no. I'm the anti-Shadow. By which I mean this world. Or, well, sort of this world, but, you know. Across the pond of ... this ... world ... [ She slowly trails off, deflating. ]

[She seems doubtful, but at the same time, doesn't put up an argument] Hmm.

[Annnd they round the corner past the library] What made you join the Knights?

Wynn found me. [ Buffy preferred her nonspecific replies, thank you very much. Nosy bitch. As if Buffy wasn't equally nosy with everyone else. ] I didn't really have anywhere else, so I guess I just ... Here I am.

[lissatrinall]

So you see it as your only option? [Her tone doesn't exactly sound judgmental, just ... analytic, almost overly so]

More or less. Not like it's a bad only option to have, though.

Right now, I just think I'd prefer to find Jack's office. [ She gives an awkward smile. ] No offense. But, I'm pretty sure I've already qualified as late.

None taken. [She pulls up to a stop in front of a door] Right here.

Oh, good. Now I just get to hope that there's no dragon guarding his office that he's gonna make me get through before I'm allowed to even start my training. [ This is her sarcasm. Kind of. Seriously, ok, if this was a test that she failed she is not ruling out the possibility of more tests involving dragons. She looks back at Lis'sa. ] Thanks. [ And then moves to open the door ... ]

[She just smiles mysteriously, and then moves back down the hall the way she came.

Inside Jack's much, much, much more organized office with its friendly and inviting leather furniture smell and fish tank, he's behind the desk, looking over one piece of paper - the only piece in sight. He looks up and smiles.]

Ah, good afternoon. [He opens a drawer to slide the paper away and stands up to hold out a hand.]

Anyone ever tell you guys that you should maybe invest in a castle map? Like, big piles with signs that say "take one" stationed by every staircase. [ She crosses the room, glancing around the room and letting the door shut behind her. She doesn't really acknowledge the hand, just scrutinizing. ] Some scary looking girl had to help me find the place.
