[ Meaning the book she's reading. He was a little hesitant to disturb since he himself can get rather prickly if someone tries to tear him away from his reading, but he deemed it a risk worth taking. ]

You enjoy books?

That would be a bit of an understatement. I have a quite passionate affair with them. My wife used to say I'd leave her once I found the right book.

You'll have a hard time finding a better library to search than Wynnefalshond's.

That's true. Every time I walk in there I feel like a little kid in a candy store. Provided that it's a kid who really likes candy.

I can't believe there's an entire room of books just about dragons.

It is of course a sad thought that a lifetime might not be enough to get a look at them all. Well, unless one has a very long lifespan.

I suppose many who live at the castle do. Hundreds of years, even.

In spite of what I just said, I don't know if I envy them that or not.

I find myself wondering, good sir, if you ever do anything but read with your spare time.

[ she looks up and registers who it is with a little smile ] Oh, I have some other hobbies, don't worry. But I blame traveling to an entirely new world. I have a whole new dimension's worth of books to read, and there are so many things about this place to learn...

I reckon I just never found reading to be the best way to learn, myself. But different strokes.

[He crouches down so he's looking up at her instead of down, tilting his head to the side to read the book's title.]

I'll admit I'm rather fond of the Knights' horses, as well. I take them out riding sometimes... visit them...

Oh? That's nice, I bet you can use the fresh air after all those dusty books. Horses aren't too fond of me, as a general rule, and I prefer staying away, too.

Maybe you just haven't met the right horse.

[smugfox]

Possible, entirely possible. But I run plenty fast without the aid of one, so it might be better for both me and the horse to just leave some distance between us.

I don't think anyone will force you to make their acquaintance.

That's very good to know! I'm lucky to not have been a squire back when horses were more needed, I suppose.

Considering that it takes an hour to reach the city even by automobile from the castle, I imagine some years ago they were all very familiar with the horses.

I'm just lucky I can run fast...

Although automobiles are alright, though I never got around to actually learning to drive.

I still haven't had much cause to try my luck behind the 'wheel' either. I think I'd like to learn, though.
