Lis'sa meets the squires inside the laboratory, behind its "Biohazard" labelled doors. She doesn't really offer much of a greeting, or even introduce herself - just waits inside the strange multi-storied library section until everyone is gathered, and then instructs them to follow her up the steps.  A great deal of models are suspended from the ceiling that look like space age designs for jet planes, cars, boats, and any number of other things. There are other objects that are much more inexplicable: a giant silver ball, suspended by several rods, for example.

There's another set of doors at the end of the balcony, and she swipes an access card through a reader besides them. They depress with a space age his. revealing a clean white laboratory, with rows and rows of tables and lab equipment set up. Numerous knights buzz around in white lab coats, working under microscopes and on computers, conferring over a number of projects.

"This way," she instructs simply, not sparing the lab a second glance, heading for a door on the left hand side of the room.  She presses a hand against the panel there, and the red light changes to green, unlocking the door for everyone's access.

Beyond is a very long room, with rows of labelled cases and cabinets with transparent glass revealing what's inside.  Lis'sa steps crisply to the other side of the large stainless steel table.

Gadgetry

These two items represent your standard issue equipment. You're also encouraged to avail yourself of a sword - however the Dragon's Hide will assist you in selecting one of an appropriate weight and grip when your weapon's training begins. If some other melee weapon is preferred, they can assist you with locating one at that time.

[She move smoothly to the case behind her, unlatching it and removing several items, which she lines up perfectly on the table.]

Our Research & Development team is consistently working to invent or improve items to assist in field work, and after being assigned a mission, you are free to return to this room with a member of the Dragon's Hoard in order to sign out any of the items you see in these cases.

[She gestures over a pile of what looks like jewelry and cosmetic materials, both men and women's] High tech surveillance equipment, and a variety of other tools are built into innocuous looking devices in order to allow you to operate more subtly, without revealing the existence of our Order to those outside of it.

[She points out a wristwatch] Our most popular item as of late. It features a wire grappling hook, recording device, miniature circular saw, [She depresses a button on the side that makes the clock face suddenly sprout tiny blades and whir around rapidly] and an extremely potent high grade laser.

[She snaps the watch off, looking at the squires finally. Yes, somehow he has managed to almost entirely avoid eye contact until now.] You'll be expected to receive proper orientation to any item before using it in the field. The same warning applies about misuse of equipment.

[He moves over to the gadgets section, his interest more noticeably peaked. His eyes, though they can't be seen behind his goggles seem to be scanning the entire table quite thoroughly. He'd really like to try out all the different types of gadgets they have here.

It would be nice having an entire department that worked on gadgetry among other things, that not only made the items, but kept up with maintaining them as well. Though he was pretty good a rigging things up when necessary, it would just be damn convenient to have something already prepared and most likely it would have a better probability of not falling apart on him.]

[She catches his interest and pipes up:] Was there something you wished to see demonstrated?

[His eyes scan the table in front of him, his lips thin as he considers. Finally, he reaches out for the wristwatch, holding it delicately in his fingers as he looks for the activation points.]

This one sounds like fun. Where's the button for that nice little saw? [He really didn't feel like accidentally lobbing his fingers off this afternoon.]

You need to depress both points simultaneously. [She gestures to the two buttons on either side, one of which is set into the side like a reset button that requires the edge of a nail to depress]

[He takes the watch from her, then depresses both buttons. As the blades spin out he gives Lis'sa a mischievous smirk on his lips as he glances around as though looking for something to test it out on.]

It would only be practical to see just how powerful these blades are, don't you think?

[lissatrinall]

[She nods at the far wall, which... has some scratches on it already]

[Carrying the strange little hard rectangle in one hand, and a handled box in the other, Myri simply stares at the rest of the array, slightly slack-jawed.]

Stargods... [She whispers, completely overwhelmed at this point.]

Are we meant to know how to use these things. This money and these... weapons? [Not to mention everything else. Her eyes continue to drift to the gadgets on the table, wondering what miracle each one holds and not being able to understand the magic.]

[lissatrinall]

They may be unfamiliar to you, but you'll be assigned mission partners who can teach you how to use the card in lieu of currency. And I said, we provide weapon training, if you decide to partake in owning one.

We do not expect everyone who joins our organization to be familiar with these items already, no.

[witchwoman]

[Relief washes over her noticeably.]

I will learn fast. I have known magic my whole life. This is not so different.

[lissatrinall]

Once you get your head around it, it makes more sense than magic.

[witchwoman]

[She looks uncertain, but curious.]

May I-? [It's all very shiny and she just wants to touch a few of them...]

[lissatrinall]

That's why they're there. Just please be cautious. I don't need any of you losing any fingers. The clerics are busy enough without having to grow them back.

[piratitude]

[Andrea is just...staring at that watch with an expression that probably looks like someone just slapped up upside the head, which...it almost feels like to her. It's almost too much at once, but at the same time...

Oh so curious.]

Um...I suppose at some point you might explain what all of that meant, but uh...explain 'misuse'.

[Because she at least understood the words 'grappling hook', and she getting ideas]

[Lis'sa turns to examine her, trying to think of a colorful example] Using it in a way that endangers yourself or others. Such as losing control of a laser beam, or using the equipment to harm someone.

[piratitude]

[Well, she'd never hurt anyone on purpose, at least not anyone that didn't have it coming.]

Oh. Well...makes sense. You're gonna teach how to use these things?

[Because really, she's never even seen a wristwatch before now]

[She picks up the watch, though she's handling it carefully]

How d'you fit all that in here, anyhow?

[lissatrinall]

Most of its spring loaded. The grappling wire curves around the interior of the face, and the mechanism for launching it's very small. The laser fires from a point in the very center of the watch, and the buzzsaw is composed of spikes hidden under the rim.

[spymaster]

[This? This has his eye, and where the rest are staring and questioning and such, James is just once more looking.

Like a creeper maybe, really, because his gaze is rather intense to be looking at the gadgets. But this is after she's finished talking, as he was paying close attention as to how she had been behaving, acting. Not making eye contact until then? Well just what was going on here now...

But no his interest is more on the gadgets for the moment and he looks like he is seriously debating taking one to study but is holding himself back, instead crouching down to peer at them from table level to try and look at them from different angles.]

[lissatrinall]

[She still notes his piqued curiosity, sliding down to his end behind the table, and picking up the piece he's currently examining, which is a man's ring.]

An ultra high frequency single digit sonic agitator. I wouldn't suggest activating it in here.

[spymaster]

[Oh, that's, not what he was expecting but he's just going to nod, standing up straight now.]

No, no of course not. No one here would take to it kindly I suspect. Internal power source, activated how may I ask?

[lissatrinall]

You have to apply equal pressure to two points on either side, and twist it 180 degrees.

[spymaster]

Fascinating. [And yes he's just hand waving that right now, with his fingers. It is interesting to him, really.] And the others, various other devices to aide in, other situations, just what else is there?

A large number of things here are surveillance devices, explosives, sensors to indicate the presence of certain things, trackers, distraction devices, scramblers... [She shrugs] Are you looking for something specific?
