This isn't exactly a squiring after party. Lila's never been to a knighting (and the odds are not in her favor) but she doubts this party is much like it either. The invitation comes in the form of a mass text message sent the day before -- she doesn't care who gets it, its not as if Wynn is going to come to her party. A date, a time, a location, and the rules. She doesn't give a reason.

The rules are simple: dress up classy, don't bring a gift, and wear a mask. It's a masquerade, after all, a mask is a prerequisite. Lila is even so kind as to provide them, a porcelain bowl perched on a chair by the door holds an array; running the gamut from Phantom of the Opera white to classic Venetian blue and gold to Dia de los Muertos red and black. Anyone without a mask is subject to Lila's wrath.

The room is entirely lit by tea lights floating in small glass bowls, leaving long shadows across the walls, and strings of red fairy lights draped across doorways and windows. Music is playing somewhere, loud and dark, forcing you to press up against the person you're talking to. A table shoved against the wall is covered with bottles of fancy champagne, wine, expensive vodka and, the odd man out, pink lemonade. She and Faye might have gone a tad overboard with the alcohol. Blue plastic cups sit in a tottering pile off to the side, a jumble of colorful paper umbrellas dotting the free space on the desk. Another table holds a towering monstrosity of nibbles -- chocolates and tiny cream puffs, miniature Madeline cookies and delicate eclairs. Nothing to fill up on if you're worried about drinking on an empty stomach. Not her problem, she is obviously catering to the younger crowd here. Namely herself.

Lila is around, face half hidden by a simple lacy black mask. Her one blue eye and one green eye would be a dead giveaway if her scar didn't already make it perfectly clear who is behind the mask. She's not playing hostess, she had enough of that back home being Daddy's little darling. This is the first birthday party she has had in almost four years, but even determined to make the most of her experience, she remains at the fringes, drink in hand. The combination of pink lemonade and vodka makes her nostalgic.

Don't worry though, she has her gloves on.

[he ate his fill while waiting for her, so he's ok with relinquishing the rest of the chicken.] I was just asking. How was I supposed to know?

[ good because she's busy being a pig over here. but she's chewing like a lady so it's all good, she's just very hungry after copious amounts of vodka tempered with surprisingly little pink lemonade. ] Mind reading isn't your super power? Just the split second healing?

[watchmaker]

Yeah, and the moving things with my mind. Can't have it all, I guess. [OR CAN YOU THO??????]

I'm sure you could try, you're really smart. So where are you staying?

[watchmaker]

I don't know, I didn't book a place. Wherever's nearby. Unless ... [there's an unspoken "what about ur place????" there.]

[bittersweeter]

Yeeeeah, I already booked a hotel. Just in case. [ such a grin, she has no shame. ] I mean you still owe me a birthday present, chocolate not withstanding.

[watchmaker]

Well aren't you something. [he's a-ok with this turn of events, grinning back.] What, you mean I'm not enough of a present for you?

[bittersweeter]

Oh no, you're perfect. I just don't want to get arrested on my birthday for indecent exposure for jumping you in a Nandos.

[watchmaker]

We should probably leave soon, anyway, I think they're trying to close. [as in they were supposed to close forever ago but sylar had to come in and be That Customer. the staff is probably praising jesus at the sound that they might be gtfo-ing tbh.]

[bittersweeter]

There is one piece left, geez. They'll survive, I leave exorbitant tips. [ yeah lila doesn't care. whoops! ]

[watchmaker]

[obvs sylar doesn't care either, so. otp.] Then finish it, and we can move on to your birthday present. The one that isn't chocolate.

Stop talking to me and I will. [ she sticks her tongue out at him before, you know, eating the last piece of chicken. and snagging the water again to finish that as well. ]

[watchmaker]

[he shrugs and puts his hands up like whatever bitch, eat away. and drink his water. IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY.]

[bittersweeter]

[ damn right it is. although lbr he pm lets her get away with this all the time, so really he has no one but himself to blame for her being spoiled. food, attention, presents, truck flipping. truck flipping. i mean, really. he set the bar pretty damn high for himself and he keeps vaulting over it. but even still, she finishes quickly, wipes her mouth with the napkin and drops it on her plate. ] Okay, I'm done.

[watchmaker]

Great. [he puts some money down on the table, then gets up.] To the hotel, then?

[bittersweeter]

[ she bounces up out of her seat and skirts around the table to take his hand. yes, they're holding hands. dwi. ] Yeah, once you hail a cab 'cause I didn't drive. [ he might have seen the taxi, lila, you could be stating the obvious here, stupid. ]

[watchmaker]

[he'd love to deal with it, ok. as soon as he grabs the chocolate off the table before they leave. there.] That's probably a good thing, if you were doing shots at your party.

[bittersweeter]

There wasn't much else to do. Little kids get games and pool parties, pin the tail on the donkey and tag, I just got alcohol. [ which even considering the last birthday party she has was her thirteenth where she and cassel drunkenly pierced each other's ear... her birthday parties haven't changed much. her hand lifts to the tiny scar on her ear before she lets it fall, shaking her shoulders to shove the memory away. ] But I also got you, so. I still win.

[watchmaker]

It's a shame we never got to use our tell. [oh look here comes a taxi. he's gonna hail it like a boss. aw yeah.] After all that time we spent practicing.

[bittersweeter]

I know. It really is too bad. And only one of us has a mask. [ a little pout, because she would have liked to have him at her party, but oh well. she'll live. make him come to her next birthday. ] It was fun practice though.

[watchmaker]

Maybe your next birthday. [mindtwins, ok. getting in the taxi now.]

[bittersweeter]

[ she slides in and quickly directs the cab driver to the hotel, it's all of fifteen minutes away, they probably could have walked, but no. WHY EXPEND THAT KIND OF ENERGY. besides, now they have time for activities. or chocolate, which she zeros in on as she slips back into the seat, reaching over to retrieve it. ] All I want is the cherry one.

[watchmaker]

[he helps her out and holds it out to her.] Why settle for one? They're all yours.

[bittersweeter]

I know they're all mine. [ she cracks the box open, flipping the little crinkly paper liner over to see where everything is mapped out, but it's dark and she's apparently blind (spot 5), so she winds up just touching every candy until she finds the domed one. mm cherry. ] But I only want one.

[watchmaker]

For what it's worth, the cherry ones are my favorite, too.
