[now that she's moved in, astrid has gravitated towards the library. libraries are nice and fun and she hasn't been to one in a long time. but once upon a time, she liked them. so now she's here, found a giant book about the anatomy of different races and has decided to commit a cardinal library sin: WRITING. IN. THE. BOOK. it's like she thinks she's the half blood prince or smth. there are some other books scattered around her, which she probably ... has also written in.]

[Lila tiptoes in, dropping her stack of books on the table along with her scarf and jacket, before putting them back where they actually belong. Because I guess she wants to be the junior librarian or maybe she is just that bored. Either or. She passes Astrid a couple times before she stops.]

Oooh, Belle is going to kill you.

[she shrugs like wow do you think i give a shit but mostly because she ... genuinely doesn't know why she should give a shit.]

Belle, the librarian. [Who else would be upset with defacing the books? Well, probably whomever wrote it or something.]

If you're not the librarian, I don't know why you're so broken up about it. [she goes back to writing. to her own credit, at least they're neat and tidy margin notes (although sort of excessive) and not idk teenage girl doodles of zac efron's face.] I'm pretty sure nobody's touched these in the last millennium, anyway.

Pretty sure someone around here is that old. [Who knows what that is meant to imply, but whatever. She moves back to her own books for a while, putting them back and collecting a neat stack of new ones that basically run the gamut of weird topics.]

They invented this thing a while back, called a notebook.

Updating the books. That haven't been touched in a millennia. ...and who are you updating them for?

Myself, I guess. I don't like looking at things that are wrong.

[ at one point, when astrid looks up, a woman is standing there, staring at her, her expression nearly blank although she manages to radiate some level of authoritative YOU DONE GOT CAUGHT. ] What are you doing.

[her eyes glance up while the rest of her head stays still, and she gets a feeling of uh-oh. this bitch is not 12 like lila, ok. but whatever, authority doesn't scare her. you're not her real dad.

[once again, this is a situation in which most normal people would feel a feeling of "oh shit", especially after ... being such a little shit. AND ALSO ESPECIALLY AFTER HALF-ASSEDLY GUNNING FOR A POSITION THERE. but astrid is not normal people ... ]

Does the library fall under the Hoard's jurisdiction or is this some kind of power trip thing? [note that she hasn't stopped writing in the book while having this conversation.]

[Andrew doesn't hate books, but he does find them ... outdated. Still, there are some things that you're able (begrudgingly) able to find in a library more easily than the internet.

Andrew hates admitting that. And yet here he is. With a book in hand, he's walking around the library and reading. There's no telling why he thinks this is a smart idea because he is clumsy as fuck and runs right into the chair Astrid is sitting in, stubbing his toe pretty hard.]

[him running into her chair jolts her out of what she's doing, causing her to make a line across the page instead of words in the margins. :c RUDE.]

[He steps back, putting pressure on the foot he ran into her chair, then proceeds to hop on the other foot, because it fucking STINGS right now.]

I think it's broken! [It's not. He's just a wuss.]

[she gives him an unimpressed deadpan look.] I seriously doubt it. You probably just stubbed your toe. Or sprained something at the very worst, I guess. If you have the bones of a baby bird. [eyeroll] Stop whining and sit down.

[He hops a few more times, looking at her as if he's uncertain if he should, but he can't exactly hop all the way back to his room, can he? Moving around the table, he slides into a chair and winces.]

[she shakes her head as a silent way of saying "w/e i'm over it." because she is.] If you didn't just stub your toe, wait until all your reactionary pain is out of the way and check to see if your toe is bruised, swelling, deformed, or any of that. That would mean you broke it. If your toe doesn't hurt anymore but your foot still does, try to wiggle your toes. If you can't, you probably fractured something in your foot. Annnd if it's not that, try to stretch your ankle in any direction. If it hurts, you sprained your ankle.
