No. [Someone apparently remembers the stories she learned. (Wis 21) That someone is also seriously impressed.] Seriously? Some of the most hardcore gladiators were Celts. Legit, if Romans are like Marines, Celts are like... fucking Navy SEALs.

[Des says something in what can only be considered Celtic, but it's archaic and has a more guttural Welsh sound. And despite his southern accent and generally weird grasp of the English language, it sounds flawless. Once he's finished, he shrugs.]

Too bad none of them ever went willingly. [He's surprisingly good-humored about this.] Your people and my people weren't exactly fast friends in the day.

Yeeeeah. My people don't exactly have the cleanest hands -- hell, half our own army was conscripted or slaves. Still is, kind of, for people like me, after a while it's not a choice but a necessity. [Which is not the point so she just pushes on.] You gonna hold it against me?

I can barely remember what I had for breakfast last Tuesday, much less Rome in its glory days. [He pulls the front door to the hotel open for her.] I tap out after a couple centuries for grudges.

[omg gentleman.] Good. 'cause I'm pretty sure I need you on Team Don't Let Vi Make Bad Life Choices. [She pauses just over the threshold.] Are you coming up or are you gonna hang here for a little while longer?

Eh, I'm done brooding about my car for awhile. [He blows a lock of his fluffy hair out of his face.] We'll see how it goes when I see Tex again.

I was about to say I couldn't believe she'd murder your car with a truck but then I remembered we're pretty much talking about John McClane. [Which Vi likes about her, honestly, but she can see why it would get... bothersome. Especially if it was your car being slaughtered.]

Exactly. I don't consider her incapable of any kind of meaningless destruction.

Dunno. I only got "there was a giant worm and they needed help" out of her explanation. They're not worm chow, so I guess it worked.

[STILL DUMBFOUNDED. Though the claws don't seem to bother her because she just shrugs.] Doppelwhater? Isn't that the weather thing?

[Uh-huh, she means the Doppler Rader. Wee lamb.]

Doppelganger. Shapeshifter. Ask Spike about it. It's a real riot watching the faces he makes.

No, he just wanted to chase it down and tear it apart like a good little attack dog. Myri talked him down.

That's the route he took? I would have picked a different path but, hey, I'm super at bad plans.

On one hand, I don't blame him. On the other, we were pretty much boned either way. Covert ops ain't this team's style. Especially when the worst member of the team is a covert operative.

I don't think we could even attempt covert considering part of the mission was shoving Finnick into stardom. [She shrugs like what are y'gonna do? and grabs an apple from the basket on the reception desk.]
