[ with his nat 20 move silently (total of 47), christos looks like he's gritting his teeth, considering leaving faye stuck to the wall with a few knives so she won't give them away. but lila's at least covered it, so he just rushes ahead of them all towards the building, blending entirely into the night, and slipping into the shadows on the porch. ]

[ with a spot of 18, she starts glancing around the porch for an easy access point at the windows, also keeping an eye out for any security devices that might trigger an alarm if she does try to slip in that way. ]

[ there's a small security box by the back door, probably numerical access to disable some sort of alarm, and there's a dog sleeping in front of a doghouse around the corner, that's just starting to stir as emma notices... ]

[Faye gets hauled up off her ass by Lila and follows along. Basically she's just trying not to fuck it up at this point.]

[ WHAT IS AN ETHICAL WAY TO KNOCK OUT A DOG. she didn't bring meat or chloroform, ok. she swats christos' arm and points him towards the dog. you can figure that shit out, bro. she goes to set to work on the security box (disable device 19, emma brought her juvenile offender kit). ]

[ don't worry, faye, lila will teach you how to be a better criminal. consider it your birthday present. ] This is one of those times I really want a taser. [ she whispers to faye. ]

[ while emma finishes pulling all the wires that should turn the alarm off (keyword: should), christos casually yanks a knife out of his boot and before anyone can protest, sends it whizzing through the air. it strikes the dog right between the eyes (atk 33, dmg 8) and with a quiet half-yelp, the dog ceases to be a problem.

[ emma hears the thunk of it burying into the dog's skull, and she looks over, examining what she hadn't paid attention to while disarming the alarm. she looks between christos and the dog, alarmed and uncomfortable, then moves right the fuck on. ]

Alarm system's off.

[ DID HE JUST...!! if looks could kill, man, christos would be jesus. minus the rising from the dead part. lila manages to not say anything (will save 21), but she is going to write wynn a strongly worded letter because that is fucked right up? why couldn't she stay in the car with felicity and anastacia? sob sob sob. ]

Yay. [ SHE DOES NOT SOUND EXCITED. ]

[Faye does not give a single fuck about the dead dog, honestly. She's just tired of standing around, trying to be quiet. She doesn't do quiet. She does big and dramatic and makes her presence known. Ahem.]

Great. So... what now? We just use the front door?

That's the idea, yes. [ ignoring lila's judgy face over there, he pushes the door open with nary a sound, revealing the interior hallway of the place. a staircase heads up to the left, and various doors lead off here and there. two jackets are hung by the door and christos takes note of them. ]

[ as does emma. she's a bail bonds person/sheriff ok, she's used to this shit (investigate 24). she purses her lips. company isn't part of the plan. but it could work out in their favor. she points them out to faye and lila as she steps inside, following silently after christos (move silently 17). ]

[ lila frowns when emma points out the two coats. super, someone else to deal with. but she doesn't say anything, just keep trailing along in silence (move silently 27), though she does urge faye to go before her so she can bring up the lead in case someone needs to be shot. ]

[Oh my god someone should have left Faye at the hotel. She is not even trying to be quiet (move silently five). The way she sees it? They have this shit on lock, so what is the point in creeping around. Her steps echo as she moves before she climbs a few steps, nails tapping along the banister as she decides that's where they're going.]

[ the pair of heels tucked beside the door advertises that whoever else is here is likely female. christos has another knife in his hand and he looks like he's wondering whether it'd be worth it to bury it in faye's back right now with the way she's noisily heading up. instead he reaches out to grab her wrist and shoot her a poisonous glare. STOP. TAPPING. ]

[ very quietly, lila whispers a question. ] Christos, do you speak French?

Why? [ that's his bitchy way of saying no ]

I was hoping to peace out before this blew up in our faces, but now I can't. [ YA'LL UNCULTURED SWINE. ] Let's just get this over with.

[Faye yanks her wrist free but at least doesn't go back to being obnoxiously loud. Continuing up the stairs, she chooses not to comment on Lila's distaste for the plan. She's having fun, so fuck everyone else, basically.]

[ NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR FUN, FAYE. they head upstairs into a short, darkened hallway. a few elegant tables just against the walls, topped with vases, etc. christos skulks down the hallway, another dagger out in his hand that glints in the scant moonlight slipping in between two curtains in the opposite window. he listens at a few doors, before continuing down, silent as a phantom. ]

[ emma doesn't bother to stop along the hallway while christos does, because it's simple math: she had her shoes off in the foyer, which means they're familiar enough to be in either his office or his bedroom. those would be towards the back of the hall. she keeps quiet enough to listen as she advances to the end of it (nat 20 listen check). ]

[ lazily following all y'all, not paying attention in her fit of do not care. look, she's running through everything they know so she doesn't have to think too hard when they're threatening the mayor and his girlfriend, who is probs that hot badass from earlier. it'd be nice, two birds, one stone, she wouldn't have to introduce herself again... ]

Sounds like they're both out. [ she presses against the wall beside the door, leaning back to whisper to the others. ] You wanna lure him out, or do this in front of his girlfriend while they're in their underwear? [ as far as bailbonds-swan is concerned, both are legitimate options. ]
