What was supposed to be a night to unwind wound up with a confrontation between Failboat and Keijen Blade that didn't exactly go the way the team was hoping for. However, in the process, they at least managed to get Isabella back and extract Dumage from her long term undercover assignment.

The remainder of the night is spent back at the hotel, recuperating, in order to catch the flight back to London the next morning. This also means saying goodbye to those who will be going back to Chicago: Isabella, Burt, and Rafael.

[He's also not sure if the girl that has too many nightmares to sleep but is too depressed to get out of bed is the best choice for driver, but it's not his car. He slides into the shotgun side of Dumage's car because he's too cool to call it but not to cool to want it.]

Dammit [He mutters quietly, and slides into Dumage's ride - trying to put as much space as possible between him and Spike.]

Uh, F... Finnick [He blurts out, just a few moments after getting in, still looking dazed.] Des and I have totally badass and entirely too-heterosexual and matching cars... And he kissed a dude... But, I mean, you don't think that makes me look like...? I mean... I've done my fair share of honeypot stings with dudes, and I'm pretty damned great at it, but that doesn't mean... I mean, does it? that 27 drive check is sure sexy, des. unfortunately it also means that when he suddenly discovers the hard way that his car doesn't have any brakes, he's going incredibly fast down the road - which happens to be slanted downwards, where it boasts a beautiful view of the thames... right up ahead.

and oh hey. no one else has brakes either.

with a nat 20 drive check, dumage gasps, and then flawlessly engages the emergency brake, grinding the car to a dramatic sideways halt in the street with only minor jostling to those in the vehicle.

with his 27 drive check, des is smart enough to try the emergency brake first, but to... no avail, because the thing is apparently also out of commission. instead, he can downshift to a lower gear, and drive onto the grassy median, allowing the uneven ground to bring enough resistance to bring the car to a stop yards away from the waterfront.

with her crit failed drive check, vi's knowledge of evasive maneuvers flies out the window entirely. her car careens straight for the edge, and hits the railing fast enough to send the car into a rolling flip straight into the river.

luckily, at least everyone has the time to make some reflex saves in that vehicle as kat screams "JUMP!" along with some obscenities, throwing her door open....

[Elena thankfully doesn't lose her shit because the one thing she remembers about being home was CRASHING INTO A FUCKING LAKE, but her will save of 19 assures that she doesn't immediately panic.

Her reflex save of 11, though, probably still isn't enough to get her out of that car in time. A W E S O M E.]

[ yeah vi's reflex save of 9 isn't going to get her anywhere. karma for driving elena (and you know, other people...) into a river. her will save of 20 also keeps her from freaking out but it's still not going to rescue that reflex save for her.

[ mark jumps out the opposite side, rolling to his feet with a nat 20 tumble check of awesomeness. he watches the car go flying in a state of total shock, his head then whipping back to make sure the other cars aren't... barreling after them. ]

[He looks back at Gar.] Just out of curiosity- brakes do come standard in company cars, right? This isn't just some minor oversight.

[ buffy is comfy in the passenger seat, bracing one hand on the roof and the other on the dash as they skid to a stop. she throws the door open immediately when the vehicle slows and bolts out of it, trying to get a look at the others. des and gar can sass, buffy will leap into protector mode over teammates. ]

[Spike curses and shoves his way out of the car, running towards the water. That their cars had cut breaks is a bad sign, but his teammates drowning would be worse.]
