The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Some time into the party, Alex would be approached by this lady, wearing a black silk cami with a sheer over-top above black silk pants and black flats. Sitting on her shoulder is this huge bird, gold eyes oddly intelligent as they look at Alex, almost seeming to weigh him. Upon closer inspection Alex might notice that Alainn's eyes are unnaturally green, her face slightly pointed, body slight in build.

She smiles, extending her hand as she stops in front of him.]

Alex, right? Me name's Sir Alainn O'Rourke. You're my new squire!

[ambitionist]

[he doesn't notice anything particularly unusual about her (spot 6) — but then, he's been drinking. and also SHE HAS A GIANT BIRD ON HER SHOULDER. it's distracting, ok!] Right, that's me. [he shakes her hand, grinning.] Pleasure to meet you. What's the bird's name?

[attollores]

[her eyes flick to said bird, grinning at alex's enthusiasm. reaching her hand up she clicks her tongue lightly and the hawk steps to her hand, large talons gripping delicately at her flesh.]

Her name's Fede. [as the bird comes eye-level with him she cocks her head on a slight angle, a soft prawk coming out, almost like a birdy 'hello'.

She likes you.

[ambitionist]

She's gorgeous. [he reaches out cautiously — because birds can be vicious ok — to stroke fede's feathers.] Much like you.

[attollores]

[fede allows him to pet her, preening under the attention nearly. alainn raises an eyebrow at his remark, laughing at his comment.]

We both thank ye for the compliment. Keep that up and ye'll have her eating outta yer hand in no time.

[ambitionist]

Don't mind if I do. So, is she a familiar, or ...?

[attollores]

[delight fills her eyes, a surprised laugh coming out as she strokes fede on the head.] Familiar, I guess you could say.

You know your way around magic, then?

[ambitionist]

Not personally. [he shakes his head.] I'm not — I just know a lot of things.

[attollores]

Fair enough [she gestures to a nearby table, turning that way]

Care to join me for a drink?

[ambitionist]

I suppose one more drink couldn't hurt ...

[attollores]

O'course it won't. [she sits, passing fede to the back of the chair to her right. A passing waiter proffers a tray with drinks and she snags two, smiling a thank you at the man as Alex takes his seat, clinking the drink onto the table before him.]

So Alex, I'm probably the hundredth person to ask you this today, but what brought you to the Knights?

[ambitionist]

Well, you're not the first. [he takes a sip of his drink.] I was going through a rough spot when I was recruited. So, you know, I'm just happy to have a place to call home. Where pretty much everyone speaks English.

[attollores]

Who recruited you? [taking a drink from her glass.]

[ambitionist]

Uh ... I think his name was Eric? Blonde, scowly?

[attollores]

[well that name sure turned her smile into a frown.] Carpenter, huh? Ugh, my apologies.

[they're so not best friends it's hilarious.]

[ambitionist]

[and that earns a raised eyebrow from him. GOTTA DROP THOSE DEETS GURL.] What? What's wrong with him?

[attollores]

Ye mean aside from having his panties so far in a twist it's a surprise he doesn't talk in a soprano? [there is absolutely no love lost in her voice as she speaks]

[ambitionist]

[snort] Yeah, besides that.

oh my god can't believe I lost this! I am so so sorry!

[attollores]

[she takes another sip of her drink, shaking her head.] He's a good Knight, really. He just has a problem with...everyone nearly. Wouldn't know a good time if it bit him in the arse.

That's a shame. Those kinds of people, I find, are the ones who could use a good time the most.

[attollores]

Ugh, okay enough talking 'bout Carpenter. Tell me something about yourself.

[ambitionist]

[he snorts a laugh.] What kind of something? Big something or a little something?

[attollores]

How about a medium something?

[ambitionist]

Breadbox-sized? [he laughs] Hm ... well, I'm from New York. Born in Brooklyn, lived in Manhattan for a long time. The Knights picked me up when I was in Japan, though.

[attollores]

[that peaks her interest and she leans forward, cradling her glass against her cheek.]

Japan, really? What brought you from Manhattan to Japan?
