The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ she shrugs, cheerful. her life has been full of boyfriend, no one can rain on her parade tbh. ] Congrats, little newbie squire.

[ she grabs his tie and tugs him down so she doesn't need to lean so far to kiss his cheek. ]

[aww, he'll lean down for her.] So, what, does that make you a knight?

[ she snorts, shaking her head. ] No, it just makes me a squire longer. I've been here for a year and change.

Is that about how long the process takes?

I've heard less. Eric's kind of a dick though so it'll be never for me. [ her shoulders lift in a shrug and she scratches at her scar absently. she doesn't seem too fussed tbh, but she's never been that ambitious so it doesn't bother her. ] I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, Alexander.

Alex. No one calls me Alexander. Ever.

[ in your comment, checking out your ass. gus looks hot as hell, as per usual, with his disguise 19. he and alex can be twinsies. he strolls up like it ain't no thang, drinking his beer in boredom. ]

Harrison. [ he leaves it for alex to decide if it's his first of last name tbh, but he's never actually introduced himself by his first name.... ever. ] Welcome to the club. [ he raises his glass like cheers and flashes a smile. (cha 20 total) ]

[will save 11; he didn't stand a chance. gus is going to be his now, bitch.] Thanks. So, Harrison, are you an actual knight or still just a squire?

I'm a knight. [ a beat. ] So if you need anyone to, uh, show you the ropes...

Oh, I'll be sure to let you know if any questions come up. [and then he gives a charming smile of his own. (cha 19) his fingers brush against gus's shoulder, like he's just helping him with some pesky lint.]

[ his will save was ridiculously high, but he's not even trying, so fuck it. he briefly glances down at alex's hand, smile slipping into a smirk. ] Or if anything else comes up. [ like your dick. ]

[ambitionist]

Exactly. Anything else. [don't look into his eyes son it's like the danger zone. you're gonna get eye-fucked.]

[attollores]

[Some time into the party, Alex would be approached by this lady, wearing a black silk cami with a sheer over-top above black silk pants and black flats. Sitting on her shoulder is this huge bird, gold eyes oddly intelligent as they look at Alex, almost seeming to weigh him. Upon closer inspection Alex might notice that Alainn's eyes are unnaturally green, her face slightly pointed, body slight in build.

She smiles, extending her hand as she stops in front of him.]

Alex, right? Me name's Sir Alainn O'Rourke. You're my new squire!

[ambitionist]

[he doesn't notice anything particularly unusual about her (spot 6) — but then, he's been drinking. and also SHE HAS A GIANT BIRD ON HER SHOULDER. it's distracting, ok!] Right, that's me. [he shakes her hand, grinning.] Pleasure to meet you. What's the bird's name?

[attollores]

[her eyes flick to said bird, grinning at alex's enthusiasm. reaching her hand up she clicks her tongue lightly and the hawk steps to her hand, large talons gripping delicately at her flesh.]

Her name's Fede. [as the bird comes eye-level with him she cocks her head on a slight angle, a soft prawk coming out, almost like a birdy 'hello'.

She likes you.

[ambitionist]

She's gorgeous. [he reaches out cautiously — because birds can be vicious ok — to stroke fede's feathers.] Much like you.

[attollores]

[fede allows him to pet her, preening under the attention nearly. alainn raises an eyebrow at his remark, laughing at his comment.]

We both thank ye for the compliment. Keep that up and ye'll have her eating outta yer hand in no time.

Don't mind if I do. So, is she a familiar, or ...?

[attollores]

[delight fills her eyes, a surprised laugh coming out as she strokes fede on the head.] Familiar, I guess you could say.

You know your way around magic, then?

Not personally. [he shakes his head.] I'm not — I just know a lot of things.
