The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Someone has to remind these people what style looks like. [ she sweeps her gaze across the room, resting her drink against her shoulder. ] It's as if nothing's changed. [ she lets out a little 'hmph' noise ]

Are you really so surprised? [For as much as Failboat has been through over the past year, everyone here had been going through their own lives, doing whatever it is knights that aren't on a possibly unending mission do. Spike wouldn't know. This has been his first mission.] I'd imagine most of 'em haven't even noticed we're gone.

Doesn't it strike you as a bit depressing? All that stagnancy?

[bigbad]

[He shrugs.] Probably not stagnant to them. We don't know their lives any better than they know ours. [He glances back at her, a bit of a smile on his face.] Then again, I hardly ever come back here. I wouldn't notice a change even if it did happen.

It just seems as if with all these resources, they might be, well, getting more out of it.

[bigbad]

[Spike raises an eyebrow.] You sound like you've got ideas.

[postergirl]

Oh, I always have ideas, darling.

But in the meantime, are you planning to ask me to dance?

[bigbad]

You could always ask me. I'm a modern sort of vampire. I'd even let you lead.

[He raises his eyebrow and holds out a hand.]

[postergirl]

I don't know, I've always found it prudent to let the man think he's leading. [ she slips her hand in his with a mischievous smirk and then tugs him out to the floor. ] Come on, then.

[bigbad]

Good thing I'm not most men. [He lets her pull him out onto the dance floor, but it's probably a good thing she's leading since he got a dance check of 3. Sorry about your toes, Dumage....]

Most men can tell their left from their right, I think. [ yeah she's just gonna... stop that and reposition his hands b/c with that check they are not even in the right place. ]

[bigbad]

I'm not much of a dancer, usually. [He gives her an apologetic look as she adjusts his hands.] I'm more about the violence than the grace.

Something charmingly masculine in that, at least. [ it's ok she's got this, with her ... dance of 21, she'll even make it look like she's not leading, spike. ]

[bigbad]

[Aww, Dumage, bb. So sweet. He's more than happy to let her lead, and he finds himself even enjoying himself.]

After talking to Finnick, I'm almost loath to ask. But how well are you keeping it together, in the wake of all this... mission nonsense?

[bigbad]

Well, I'm not drunk off my arse most of the time. So I think I'm dealing a bit better than he is. [No, really, he's okay. Except for all the jealousy and heartbreak.]

Can vampires even be affected by alcohol?

[bigbad]

We can if we try hard enough. [He grins.] Vampire constitution. Not always a good thing. But that's what fey wine's for, right?

[postergirl]

You'll have to forgive me for being glad you're not a functioning alcoholic. I'm not in the mood to be anyone's designated driver. Particularly when someone's rigging our cars to kill us.

before he can respond to the joke, however, spike is greeted with a sudden, intense pain in his skull, akin to what happens when he harms a human, except that it feels worse. and it comes out of literally nowhere. ]

[bigbad]

[WHAT THE HELL HE ISN'T THAT BAD A DANCER. He starts blinking, confused for a moment, before grabbing his head and screaming like his head's being torn in half. Since that's... what it feels like.]

[postergirl]

[ dumage is just gonna... stare for a second, because what the actual fuck. ] Spike?

[bigbad]

[He grips her hand so hard she might need a cleric (str 21) as he tries to stay upright.]

My... head... [In case the screaming and grabbing it didn't tip her off.]

[postergirl]

[ she tries to wrench her hand away because he's hurting her, but she can't, so instead she grabs his shoulder and looks over her own, calling desperately: ] What are you standing there for? Where's a cleric?

[ alanna returns from her tour with myri to find dumage shouting. what a pleasure. her eyes widen when she sees spike screaming and she immediately pushes through dancing couples to run to their side. ]

Mithros. [ she swears, reaching a hand out to touch spike as if to calm him. she isn't using magic yet, but turns to dumage. ] What happened? [ if there is anything magic about this shit that will kill a healer U BEST TELL HER NOW. which is a legitimate concern given that there's no blood. ]

He simply started screaming. [ she shakes her head, agitated. ] We were just talking.

[ she does see fit to note: ] He's... he's a vampire, I don't know if that affects any of your whatever-you-will.
