Now officially Knighted, Vi exchanges her ceremonial armor for a wedding gown, and the guests head into London to gather at the Chelsea Physic Garden.  The evening is warm and clear, and the flowers in full bloom, chairs set up on the main lawn with name tags on them for people to find their seat.  Gentle Elvish music plays everyone in, and at the front of stands an arbor covered in wisteria.  It's a remarkably peaceful setting, enough to dispel further some of the grimness of the past few days and create an atmosphere of smiles and warmth.    It seems to reinforce what Luthir has been telling Vi all along: that maybe now more than ever, this is the sort of thing they need, in order to remember what they're all fighting for.

[A wedding feels a little strange after all that had happened recently but at the same time, Rose (Disguise 20 total) could see the need for something to celebrate and there wasn't enough money in the world that you could offer her to miss seeing the look on Luthir's face when Vi came down the aisle.

For most of the reception though, she'll be sticking around Table 3 but she can probably be enticed to step away for a dance.

Otherwise steal somebody else's seat while they're away so you can talk to her. She swears she'll stop eating long enough to talk back.]

[ Rose was sure sharing her table with an italian pop star, who she... might even recognize. A knowledge (pop culture) check of 13+ is all it takes to recognize him as Rafael Giovanni, the singer who infamously accidentally shot his girlfriend onstage at his debut televised concert last year. Either way, he's remarkably friendly, so when the two of them wind up alone for a second, he'll hold out a hand. ] I do not think I heard your name, signorina.

[About all Rose knows is that he's 'Italian Guy with the blonde' (PC 8) but she might click once the name exchange happens thanks to regular updates from Elena during his trial.]

Oh, hey... [She's 90% sure signorina wasn't an insult so that was good.] Rose Hathaway. I'm friends with the... both sides, kinda.

As am I, though I feel I know the bride much better. The groom does not seem to say much.

Yeah that's just Luthir. It works though because Vi's the opposite so I think they balance each other out.

I suppose there may be something to that.  The opposites attract, they say.  But the things they both treasure most, that they would fight for, these things are the same.  This, I think, is the most important of things.

[Perhaps unintentional but in that moment, he could have been speaking of Rose and Dimitri, her gaze moving to the Russian as she listened.]

I think that's a huge part of it. [She even manages a smile.] Having somebody who gets it. [She pauses then adds, a slight smirk on her lips.] Having somebody who is used to the fact that you're never around doesn't hurt either.

[ his eyes seem to subconsciously skate across the crowd, as if he's looking for someone. ] ... Si. But such a thing is never simple.

[A small frown touches Rose's lips as she considers his words, finally giving her head an infinitesimal shake.]

I think things are only as complicated as you let them be. Nothing is ever simple but if you love somebody then you make it work.

You sound as though you speak from experience.

[Confusion touches her expression, mostly because she does, she just doesn't remember it but it applied to her current situation as well.]

See that guy over there. [Motioning towards Dimitri. A Spot Check of about 3 would probably mean he could see him because the six foot seven didn't exactly blend well.] We pretty much never see each other because when he's here, I'm not or vice versa but the times we do get to be together? We make it count. You can focus on all the reasons why it shouldn't or can't work or just enjoy the reasons why it does. If I had to choose, I choose the option B.

[Seriously Raf. How do you do this?! Rose doesn't wax poetic to just anyone.]

[ wow he crit failed his spot check so he somehow thinks you're pointing at spike (yes, i randomly rolled that). his expression turns to surprise because SPIKE HAS A GIRLFRIEND???? ] You and he--

Si, I can imagine... it has been hard. [ since he's been off on this mission for two years?? raf is still in a state of bewilderment over this whole thing. ] How long have you--

[There just aren't enough words for how hysterically amazing this is.]

Uh huh. [So oblivious to the misunderstandings.] A little over a year? I'm not going to say it's easy or anything. Most of the time it sucks but like I said. If it's right, you make it work.

[Can we also talk about all the hilarious similarities between Spike and Dimitri? Duster? Check. Used to be evil and now isn't because of restorationy things? Also check. Spent the evil era being in love with a woman who kills Vampires... Just saying.]

[Someone else has been sticking around Table 3 for reasons, and at the moment Elena is sitting next to Rose, nursing her soda.

Without warning, her head tilts toward her friend, leaning her temple against Rose's shoulder.

She just glad you're here, okay.]

[A soft smile touches Rose's lips, her head tilting to rest against Elena's as a hand snakes out to capture hers, giving it a gentle squeeze.

She could only guess at what being here was like for her, putting on a mask for everyone around them but Rose also hoped that maybe, at least once or twice throughout the night, one of her smiles might even be real.]

You think Luthir will mind if I start calling him Mr. Vi?

[Her smile cracking wider, trying to get a matching one out of Elena.]

[Joking helps, and the smile that her comment brings is closer to real, if only briefly.]

I think the question is if he does, will he bother speaking the words out loud to tell you?

[Despite being in close proximity, Elena has barely talked to the man. But he makes Vi happy, and he's a good person, so she's not going to begrudge them anything.]

Nah. He'll just get this look. [She pauses a moment, then adds more for humor.] It's hard though because his stop that look is very close to his I'm happy look. One's just a little less constipated.

[Despite being Squired to him, Rose didn't actually know Luthir all that well, just the brief conversation here and there when he was around the Castle which admittedly, wasn't often at all. She'd probably heard more words come out of Vi's mouth and they'd only met at Elena's Knighting Ceremony.]

[Elena just shakes her head. She understands all too well. She's seen those looks plenty of times.]

At least someone can do face interpretation. I've long since given up trying and just hope for happy most of the time.

[Though with Vi the way she was, she doubted she was correct in that assumption.]

[Seriously. What was it with Rose being surrounded by the stoic, silent types. Dimitri. Luthir. Davin?!

Rose turns her head a little to press a kiss to the top of Elena's head.]

You glad you came? [Not that she could imagine that Elena would have skipped the wedding but still, it was Rose trying to ask if she was having an alright time, all things considered.]

[Dimitri was definitely the strong, silent type. She guesses that he's different alone with Rose, just as Luthir was likely different alone with Vi.]

Yeah. [She manages a smile.] I haven't bailed yet, after all.

[She paused, grin widening as she prepared for a joke.]

Faye's here. Bet if I threw a glass of wine at her it would make for one hell of a distraction. [Don't worry! She won't.

She so would but as long as Faye avoids Rose, Rose is going to avoid her.]

My alternative plan involved streaking but with Dimitri here? There'd be less blood spilled going the other route.

[That grin? Rose might enjoy Dimitri's jealous streak more than was strictly healthy but it was kind of hot went he got all grr argh.]

First time I met him? [Here anyway.] Some guy spilled a drink down my front and then tried to "clean me up"... Dimitri steps in and I swear! I thought he was going to break his arm.
